The Suburban is a huge, old-fashioned, truck-based SUV, the quintessential family truckster for large families who live beyond the suburbs. What sets it apart from other SUVs is that it provides three rows of seats -- for carrying up to seven, eight, or even nine people -- yet still retains generous cargo space, along with a hefty towing capacity.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Owner Satisfaction with:

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"As mentioned the acceleration is scary good, while being very smooth - it does not lurch or jerk. The handling is excellent for It size , very smooth and the turning radius seems to be better than previous models. (Now, it IS a Suburban so parallel parking and tight parking takes more skill - the backup camera definitely helps with this.)"

Anonymous, TX (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"I have owned several Suburbans or Yukon XLs, owing one or the other continuously since about 1985. This drives and handles the best of any I have owned."

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Very smooth riding car. Very stable and comfortable."

Anonymous, GA (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Extremely quiet. The ride is very smooth with a good suspension. The seats are a bit too firm and narrow."

Margaret H., NC (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Long seat cushions providing great thigh support. Very quiet interior at all speeds."

Douglas H., NM (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Seating is large enough, an important issue for me, but seats are too trucklike. Seats could be softer, more forgiving."

Kenneth P., PA (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Nice couch seated and lots of leg room when traveling long distance !"

Alejandro M., TX (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Very comfortable, quiet ride. Great choice of seat settings."

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"A comfortable quiet ride that provide safety for passengers and driver, that is capable of carrying a large load of cargo or people."

Margaret H., NC (2018 Chevrolet Suburban)

"It seems to me with the 2018 Chevy Suburban's the difference in package levels is not very wide - I.e. there is effectively no bottom level or entry level package; there all about "Cadillac" level (or at least what "Cadillac" used to be). If my wife was not such an ardent Suburban fan (2nd generation "Suburban Mom") and we did not have a need to comfortably seat 6 passengers, we would have gone with a less expensive model or maker . (This will be our last Suburban. It should last at least 10yrs - enough time for the birds to leave the nest). Note: to put in perspective, that being said, so far we are very pleased with this model. It drives very well and is pretty nimble for such a large vehicle (the acceleration is scary good for its size). Apple Car play feature works well."
