Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. Road Test

The three-row Durango SUV is another impressive example of Chrysler's resurgence. While previous Durangos were rather mediocre, this one is a luxurious, refined, and capable SUV that rates at the top of its category. Too bad a history of lackluster reliability gives pause.

The Durango, which shares a platform with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, does an impressive job of combining workhorse utility with ample creature comforts. The interior is spacious, quiet, and well finished, with room for seven adults. The ride is supple and composed, and handling is responsive for a vehicle this big. Yet, the Durango also comes ready to haul the load, providing plenty of cargo room and towing capability. It's larger than most midsized SUVs, however, so it can be a bit of a handful to maneuver and park.

Display screen freezes up

"It often takes approx. 5 minutes for the electronics to boot up. During this time, the heat is on full blast, which makes for uncomfortable drives in summer months."

Anonymous, WI (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 3.6-L V6)

"Display would stop working, freeze up or go blank"

David W., ID (2014 Dodge Durango SXT 3.6-L V6)
Display screen goes blank

"The display screen would go black intermittently; I took the SUV to the local Dodge dealer for repair"

Dixie D., OH (2014 Dodge Durango Citadel 3.6-L V6)

"Display screen did not boot up for approximately 5 minutes after vehicle start rendering most controls in vehicle useless. Climate control would be fixed at full heat blowing."

"Screen would go blank at various times, It took the dealership months to solve the problem"

Anonymous, OK (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 3.6-L V6)

"The display screen would freeze up and then go blank until the car was turned off and restarted. This caused problems especially with the climate control since it is displayed/manipulated via this screen"

Anonymous, TN (2014 Dodge Durango SXT 3.6-L V6)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

"SD and USB inputs are very intermittent. They work only when they want to. Radio and cables have been replaced two times to no avail, although Radio has never been a problem as AM/SM/Sirius have ALWAYS performed perfectly. Problems started when s"

"I cannot get the music to play from my phone through the audio system"

Mary P., MA (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 3.6-L V6)

"The vehicle loses track of where it actually is located, so it cannot suggest directions. At times, it tells me that I am driving through Lake Michigan."

Anonymous, WI (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 3.6-L V6)

"Compass ranges form 90 to 180 degrees off. Useless. Dodge says the only adjustment is made by driving in circles until correct. I drove in circles till dizzy, but no help. GPS shows me to be about 90 miles from where I actually am. It, too, is u"

Anonymous, TN (2014 Dodge Durango Citadel 5.7-L V8)

"was showing completely wrong locations and was giving locations in lat/lon format and was unable to change"

Dennis C., MA (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 3.6-L V6)

"GPS would randomly go nuts. Had to make a video of the problem and send it to the technicians because they claimed it wasn't a problem. Frequently wouldn't be able to navigate anywhere. Lost "favorites" several times, etc"

Richard W., OR (2014 Dodge Durango Citadel 3.6-L V6)

"GPS is always off showing on roads not on or destination several hundred feet away from actual location, this is a position issue and not an issue with outdated maps. Also major issue with uconnect it will only work 50% of time and app to use it is extremely unreliable."

Anonymous, MI (2014 Dodge Durango Limited 5.7-L V8)

"Problem started while on a journey 1 year ago. The GPS suddenly lost sense of the direction that we we heading in as we physically changed direction of travel. It shows us going through fields and lakes, a nowhere near our actual position. The problem starts when driving the vehicle. The starting position appears to be correct when starting the car, but the GPS loses the car within a mile or two of any trip. We have stopped using it and rely on our phone GPS for now. Not happy with the poor reliability!"

"the voice control for the paired phone constantly fails to select the person/number that I tell it to dial. when it does work it's so slow that I could have dialed it myself in half the time and the constant reminder to hang up/disconnect after the call is completed is a pain in the a**. after 3 years I sure don't need to be reminded"

"Dealer tells us that the connector under one of the seats comes loose due to the seat being adjusted backwards and forwards. I cannot see or find the connector in question to fix, so have to take to the dealer each time. Problem has occurred at least five times. Appears to be a safety design error and should have triggered a safety recall to retrofit a more robust solution. The airbag light is back on now, so waiting to take the car back to the dealer. Really unacceptable and dissatisfying."

Decided to replace all coil packs on one bank of cylinders to solve a check engine light code indicating a misfire in a specific cylinder.
