"Often after a Bluetooth enabled phone call, the entire SYNC system locked up. No radio, navigation, sound, etc. only way to fix it was to pull over, turn off the ignition, open and shut the driver's door and restart the engine. This happen whether an android or Apple phone was used AND THE SAME PROBLEM occurred with our 2015 Mustang"

In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"The Escape Navigation System cost approximately $2500 when I purchased the car. However, after the first 3 years the Nav system became out of date and required a GPS update. Ford charges about $250 for the update via CD input. This is OUTRAGEOUS!! I paid $2500 for a poorly designed Nav system and have to pay 10% more YEARLY to get updates."

"see previous comments"

Joan R., NJ (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The whole system is junk Voice command can only be activated by driver on steering wheel, Navigation system is terrible completely non-intuitive. Kenneth H., FL (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"My phone would constantly disconnect from the car."

Thomas R., IN (2015 Ford Escape SE 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Warning lights

"Car apparently has a battery drain. When trying to start after parking for the night, literally every error message the system has comes up on the screen except that the battery is low. This leaves car inoperable until it is jump-started but again, there is no indication that the battery is drained. [It gives the error messages: no key detected, blind spot information system error, awd system error, etc. but actually the battery is just dead.]"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Brakes

Antilock system (ABS), parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pulsation or vibration, squeaking, brake failure or wear.

What Owners Say

Calipers

"One of the caliper pistons on one set of brakes (I don't recall at this time which one) became stuck open, which allowed brake fluid to leak out every time I pressed the brake pedal. The brake light never came on. I only noticed when I realized I had to push a lot harder on the brakes and it was taking longer than usual for me to get the car to stop. I was told that this issue was a manufacturing defect as opposed to a routine use issue"

Julie H., NC (2015 Ford Escape SE 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous, OH (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Blower (fan) motor

"See answer with first problem. Answered there"

Anonymous, NC (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"It seems in the past 8-10 months that when we adjust the climate system for better air flow or lower temps via maximum air conditioning, the fan blower kicks on and blows loudly. There's nothing we can do to stop this unless we stop the car and turn off the ignition, then start again. We are still under the 36Kmile, 36 month bumper to bumper warranty so we're going to have this checked out"

Patrick H., NC (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The formatting on your questionaire did not offer the year 2017. All references to the year 2015 should be read 2017. The blower motor was not a serious problem and does not warrant discussion"

Reuel E., FL (2015 Ford Escape SE 1.6-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"Entire grill that holds the license plate fell off. the part is a unsturdy plastic. it costs between 65-125.00 and Ford wants 95.00 for install. It should be covered for 100,00 miles at least"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Loose interior trim or moldings

"Inside panel of the tailgate completely came off within a few months of owning the car"

Mike R., CA (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"As described previously under rust, paint started peeling off right down to bare metal at the tip of one of the tail-lights. It started as a 2mm sliver, and quickkly progressed to a 4 cm bare metal spot that did not stay bare long, for rust started to develop right away. Another bubble started at about the same time along the edge of a (actually, THE) chrome moulding on the rear hatch, the size of a pinhead and progressing quickly to about 5 mm. diameter."

Serge L., ON (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Rust

"rust at all attachment locations"

Thomas M., CT (2015 Ford Escape SE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The paint around the tip of one of the taillights simply flaked off and rust started eveloping right away. Rust has also started to bubble and come in the open on the top edge of a chrome decorative molding aboce the licence plate, on the rear hatch as well. Rust has started developing along the lower/inside (leading) edge of the hood. After reporting and getting an estimate for these, I now notice one of the welding seams at the bottom of the driver's door is now bubling and starting to show off rust. I religiously wipe dry all those edges and door and hatch surrounds after each car wash."

Serge L., ON (2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"The alert comes on too late for cars approaching on the driver's side i.e. they are already even with my rear bumper. The alert on the passenger side is activated when the car is about 10-12 feet behind my rear bumper which lets me cancel my lane change without causing an accident. Even though the two sensors (located in the outside mirror housing) operate very differently, they say that's normal and refuse to do anything to change it."
