Alarm or security system (excluding aftermarket systems)

    Exterior lights (other than headlights)

"wires eaten by squirrels due to soy based wire insulation"

Anonymous, IL (2020 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Headlights

"Over the past several months, I noticed repeated water intrusion in my headlamp assembly. While the condensation initially cleared within a few days, it reappeared shortly thereafter. When I used the turn signal, I observed an irregular blinking cadence. Inspection revealed that the passenger-side blinker was not functioning, and when I turned on the headlights, they also failed to operate. I brought the vehicle to the dealership for service. Having purchased the Ford Protect extended warranty for $2,955, I reasonably expected the repair to be covered. The dealership required Prior Approval and sent in a report. Ford Protect determined the issue was caused by a water leak within the hermetically sealed headlight assemblya defect I believe stems from a manufacturing-related failure rather than ordinary wear and tear. However, the warranty claim was denied on the grounds that water intrusion is excluded from coverage. The dealership did give me a repair estimate$2800.00. You may want to investigate these extended warranty plans."

Anonymous A., MI (2020 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous, MI (2020 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

"3 of the 4 tire pressure monitors quit at the same time & the dealership quoted $480 to fix it which is more than I can afford. Due to that I have to shut off the TPM not working message 12 - 16 times every shift. Very annoying."

Anonymous, BC (2020 Ford Escape Unsure 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

Anonymous, NJ (2020 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""The navigation system is difficult to use, not at all user friendly. The audible instructions are silent for many trips. On other occasions, the audio works just fine. When the audio fails, we have to take our eyes off the road to look at the skreen.""

Anonymous, MA (2020 Ford Escape Hybrid Titanium 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)

""Ford's navigation system on the 2020 Ford Escape, has two issues. Number one, it doesn't update as far as current information on road and addresses. The second issue I've come across is that you'll put an address in and it won't recognize the address even if it's a valid address. So, you've got a GPS that will not give you directions and your left blind unless you want to try to put the address in on a cell phone application and try to navigate that way which is not easy if you're not set up, via via a place to mount your cell phone and a special cable to plug into your vehicle or whatever. Which, negates the whole purpose of having a special navigation system in your vehicle!""

Anonymous, CA (2020 Ford Escape Unsure 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Other in-car electronics problem

"The variable speed settings for the windshield wipers are all the same. The switch is defective. Clicking from one speed to the next does not change the frequency of the wipers."

    Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Parking brake

""Since purchasing the SUV, quite frequently when backing up, I would hear a loud squealing! I kept taking it back to the local Ford dealership for this problem and they kept checking it, but every time they would tell me that I had break dust or they couldn't hear it or whatever. This continued up until just last month, when finally ford issued and bulletin, but even with that I still had to pay $100 deductible and then Ford picked up the rest. I'm most frustrated and disappointed that it took almost 5 years for Ford to acknowledge that there wasn't a problem with the backup brakes. And then when they did I still had to pay $100 deductible to get it fixed!""

Anonymous, CA (2020 Ford Escape Unsure 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
    Squeaking

"Makes excessive grinding noise when backing up the first part of the day"

Anonymous, SC (2020 Ford Escape SEL 1.5-L 3 Cyl turbo)

""Brakes make terrible noise when backing up the day after rain. After driving about 10 miles, the noise is gone. We live in WA, fair amount of rain. Terrible when backing out of garage. Neighbors can hear noise in their house. Ford dealer says is due to moisture expansion on brake pads. Warranty wont cover it.""

"The drivers side door began clicking when opened or shut. It turns out the hinge on the door had its spot qeld break and so the hinges were not attached to the door only to the body and so when it opened or shit the door sounded like it was cat thing on the paneling but it was not. They replaced the clips once but issue returned about six months later but they refused to repair the second time. Same issue occurred with the 2018 Edge. I took care of in like 10 days later (owners group said driving car was ok) and told them what was wrong. I told them what owners group had said was problem. I went to pick up car 2 days later. They said it was fixed, but as soon as I started car the same warning came up. I left car there again and told them what I thought the problem was. The next day they called and said it was done again. This time it was, and amazingly it was what I told them was wrong to begin with! No other problems since then.""
