This Ford F-150 represents a significant improvement over the previous model. It rides more comfortably, handles more nimbly, and has a quieter interior with better fit and finish. Movable overhead storage consoles and an optional power sliding rear window are nice additions. The F-150's powertrain delivers reasonable acceleration and fuel economy for the class.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

"Very quick acceleration.Handles nice on corners with just a little wider tire."

Anthony P., NH (2006 Ford F-150)

"Very good acceleraton"

Eric S., CO (2006 Ford F-150)

"This truck is easy to drive, very smooth, and easily keeps up in interstate traffic."

Anonymous, VA (2006 Ford F-150)

"For a full-size pickup, the truck handles pretty well. Of course, I'd like a tighter turning radius but given its size, it's quite adequate. To accelerate, I have to apply more gas but then the 5.4 liter engine responds nicely, again given its size. The braking is somewhat unresponsive, but when I really push down the brake pedal, the truck quickly brakes. Hopefully the new trucks do better at this."

Patrick H., NC (2006 Ford F-150)

"The handling and acceleration is good for a truck. However, it is a truck with a high center of gravity so there are limits to its' handling capabilities."

David S., BC (2006 Ford F-150)

"Great handling in town."

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"seats are fine and the interior still as quiet as ever.. have friends with toyotas and chevys.. they are much noisier"

Anonymous, WY (2006 Ford F-150)

"Way back in 2006, Consumer Reports didn't rate the Ford F-150 very high in regard to seating comfort. I'm here to tell you 12 years later that CR was dead wrong. I've driven this vehicle for about 50 to 60 six-hundred mile long road trips. I've arrived rested and with no soreness. The truck does fine! nearly 90,000 miles later."

"Ford has a comfortable ride"

Anonymous, BC (2006 Ford F-150)

"Headrest a little uncomfortable. Car rides smooth but a little too noisy. Overall great though. The Graco Forever car seat fits in this vehicle. Also, backseat roomy and tons of storage space in back."

Anonymous, NC (2006 Ford F-150)

"The CR 2006 review on the Ford F-150 noted that seats were uncomfortable, especially on long rides. That is partially true - it holds true for the back seat of an extended cab, since seats are relatively short and back rest is completely vertical. But I regularly drive this same vehicle for 10 hours straight and I don't feel uncomfortable at all - and this has been the case for the past 10.5 years with 4-5 1200 mile trips at a time."

Patrick H., NC (2006 Ford F-150)

"The F150 gives a comfortable ride, is quiet with lots of power. The seats are very comfortable. It's like driving a Crown Victoria with four wheel drive."

David S., BC (2006 Ford F-150)

"While it is very comfortable to drive. To get to that point is hard. There is no way to set seat settings to return to them. If someone else drives it and changes the settings one have to trial and error your way back. There is not enough room between the door and seat to get your hand. It makes it very hard to reset the seat tilt and other settings. All so it is very difficult to get in and out of. Door opening space to get behind the steering wheel. The steering wheel tilt is very akward."

Daniel D., GA (2006 Ford F-150)

"This truck has always been extremely comfortable, quiet, and smooth. We always choose it for our family road trips."

Anonymous, VA (2006 Ford F-150)

"Seat heater is great."

Phillip B., FL (2006 Ford F-150)

"Excellent ride and comfort for a truck. Better than SUVs and as good as or better than most sedans."

Anonymous, AL (2006 Ford F-150)

"IT'S THE PERFECT 4X4 WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD LIKE SNOWING."

Anonymous, CO (2006 Ford F-150)

"Clamshell doors are very noisy."
