A heavy duty good for 3/4 ton capacity as opposed to the 1/2 ton of the F-150. The Super Duty doesn't get the 2004 redesign until later. The ride is stiff and bouncy. The new 6.0-liter Diesel packs some real punch and is fairly quiet and free of vibration. Stepping into the cabin is more difficult because of the high floor.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"I installed a performance chip, which helped the fuel mileage and acceleration, especially while pulling a 12,000 pound rv."

James M., MI (2003 Ford F-250)

"Pulls travel trailer with ease, able to pass without hesitation."

Steven M., NC (2003 Ford F-250)

"Freat acceleration for a truck its size. Steering could be better, it's very loose. Suspension is what would be expected for a truck without coil over shocks (pretty rough on bad roads)"

Anonymous, WI (2003 Ford F-250)

"Truck handles well and has good acceleration."

Craig B., SC (2003 Ford F-250)

"The truck is big. It handles and rides a bit rough and its noisey in the cab. After all, it is an older diesel truck. After making minor improvements to boost the 7.3 L diesel's performance, the truck has served us extremely well. My wife will even drive the truck on occasions. She doesn't want me to sell it and that's saying sonething."

Anonymous, KY (2003 Ford F-250)

"It accelerates like it isn't pulling 15,000 pounds up a hill/in mountains. It handles great on the highway, in town, and off road. Parking is easiest if I back in. It is responsive to the steering wheel-the 'tightness' is just right for me. I also like the brakes-they are not mushy, and engage when I start putting pressure on the pedal. It does have a very wide turning radius that I'm not thrilled with, but work around."

REBEC F., CA (2003 Ford F-250)

"It pulls my fifth wheel trailer well and will haul a cord of fire wood easily."

Anonymous, CA (2003 Ford F-250)

DONNIE T., TX (2003 Ford F-250)

"This Ford truck is easy for anyone to handle and it's done the job needed for our active life and farm needs."

Kristine D., OR (2003 Ford F-250)

"Excellant driver even to win travel trailer"

Steven M., NC (2003 Ford F-250)

"We use this vehicle to tow a horse trailer. It has plenty of power and is not affected by passing tractor trailers."

Anonymous, PA (2003 Ford F-250)

"The turbocharger works well beyond my expectations and makes it easy to move into traffic while hauling or towing."

Anonymous, NV (2003 Ford F-250)

"Extremely dependable. W/o chip it gets 15 mpg and 8-10 mpg when towing a 10,000 lb trailer. Still looks great. Drives and rides like a big truck."

Anonymous, KY (2003 Ford F-250)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Seats are comfortable, and roomy. Noise is almost nonexsistent, very quiet. Ride is adequate for a truck, a stiffer suspension then the Toyota."

David M., MN (2003 Ford F-250)

"the pickup is the best ride and you can see so much better than in a auto"

John D., MI (2003 Ford F-250)

"Very comfortable interior, does not wear driver out on long trips."

Steven M., NC (2003 Ford F-250)

"Ride is very smooth other people mention how well the ride is. Truck in not 4x4."

Anonymous, CA (2003 Ford F-250)

"Rides like a car with stiff suspension. Very little road noise."

Anonymous, AL (2003 Ford F-250)

"I go on long road trips hauling a trailer, and I feel this is a very comfortable truck, the seats are comfortable, the steering wheel is comfortable no matter how I grip it-I can place my hands at 10-2, 5-7, or on the cross brace of the wheel. The air/heater works great and quickly."

REBEC F., CA (2003 Ford F-250)

"The seas are very comfortable, the noise level is very low and the ride is very smooth considering it is a Super Duty."

RONALD K., AL (2003 Ford F-250)

"Do not like that the AC is on when the heater is put in the "feet and upper body" position. Also, when the engine is forced (going up a steep hill pulling a heavy load) to pull really hard (V10), the AC stops running. Otherwise, the climate control works great, and the noise level is the most quiet of any vehicle I ever owned!"

DAVID M., MN (2003 Ford F-250)

"AC works great, low noise for a truck. Love it."

Anonymous, WA (2003 Ford F-250)

"Climate control is very good. Ride is very good. Noise is acceptable for a Diesel engine truck. Overall, it has been a good and dependable truck for me."

S S., WA (2003 Ford F-250)

"The quietest vehicle I ever owned (inside)!"

David M., MN (2003 Ford F-250)

"Very comforting to drive outside sound is very subdued"

Steven M., NC (2003 Ford F-250)

"It is a truck. All of these items are what I would expect."

Seeley K., CA (2003 Ford F-250)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"For the mileage and age the upkeep cost had been minimall"

James M., MI (2003 Ford F-250)

"I am the original owner of this truck and the only maintenance has been that recommended by Ford. Totally impressed with the reliability"

RONALD K., AL (2003 Ford F-250)

"6.0 diesel engine is very bad. Full of problems."

MARK C., WA (2003 Ford F-250)

"I bought a used 2003 F250 7.3L diesel at 120,000 miles to pull heavy trailers mostly on long trips and it does it dependably with ease. At first I had to take care of the previous owner's problems. Then with minor modifications and strick scheduled maitenance I had 65,000 miles of worry free driving and towing. I have had many, many people offer to buy the truck."

Anonymous, KY (2003 Ford F-250)

"this truck runs well and is very handy and dependable !"

HARRY C., CT (2003 Ford F-250)
