Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2025 GMC Yukon owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Display screen goes blank

"Both display screens went blank. No way to tell how much fuel I had, how fast I was going, nor could I control the hVAC. Everything was dead, but the vehicle still ran. Took it to dealer and it was the "computer" behind the main panel. The vehicle has been at the dealership for over a week now and the part is still on backorder."

Anonymous, IN (2025 GMC Yukon Denali 6.2-L V8)
Other in-car electronics problem

"Although the infotainment screen is large, it isn't very intuitive to use. Some features take several clicks to find what you are looking for and therefore impossible to use when driving. An example is the night vision feature. This should be added to the steering wheel. Another silly little thing is the volume control button. It is located at the bottom, middle of the screen. The natural motion is to go to the left side"

Engine Major

Engine rebuild or replacement, cylinder head, head gasket, turbocharger or supercharger, timing chain or belt.

What Owners Say

Engine rebuild or replacement

"2025 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate 3.0L Diesel Engine rare failure at 450 miles on the vehicle. First of all, and most important, the dealership leadership and their GM partners have been great to work with. The problem actually existed at the time of purchase where we were told the sound from the engine when stepping on the accelerator was normal for the diesel engine. It was rather a subtle noise and could be heard when accelerating, but not when cruising. The dealership sales manager and their technician reported the sound as normal. After about a week we took it to a different GM dealer where their technician went on a test drive and quickly said the sound was not normal. After several days of testing and coordinating with GM, it was determined the engine needed replacement. The replacement engine was in short supply nationally, but somehow one was found and quickly shipped. There are two approaches to replacing this engine and both are rather dramatic to the owner. One is to pull the entire body off the frame and remove/replace the engine to an open frame. The other approach is to take many of the front end items off the vehicle (front facade, bumper, lights, cooling parts and other major components) and slip it in. Both ways take many hours and to the untrained eye look to be extremely complicated. We are now at three weeks with an additional week estimated before completion. I wouldnt be surprised if it went to five weeks because the technician isn't dedicated to this vehicle. A loaner car has been provided. We no longer want to own this vehicle because of this rare major defect and associated major work. Under the state lemon law, we have been contacted by the GM Repurchase Coordinator where an offer to buy back the vehicle is in work. Their Repurchase Coordinator has been wonderful to work with as has everyone else. A replacement vehicle has been ordered. Yep, same model, color and engine. A special recognition of excellence to the selling GMC dealership and their leadership Lums GMC in McMinnville Oregon. This can be published if unedited."

Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

What Owners Say

Paint (fading, chalking, cracking, or peeling)

"There were several foreign contaminants under the clear coat, and or in the color paint on multiple body panels. GM offered to send it to a body shop to fix, but after hearing the downtime window in their methods, they would use to correct the issue. I decided it was better to live with the imperfections, then deal with their solution."

Anonymous A., UT (2025 GMC Yukon AT4 6.2-L V8)

Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

What Owners Say

Glass defects

"The rear hatch window was delivered with a 3 inch long 1/16 inch deep gouge in the glass."
