Tom C., CA (2005 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)

"the heat and or the air conditioning would get stuck on. blowing broiling hot air full blast no matter what setting it would be on. then suddenly on day it would work fine for a couple of months. several repair shops were unable to fix it because it had to be malfunctioning at time of appointment and it would miraculously work. (And then stop working a couple days later. Finally AAA diagnosed the problem. Something wrong with the sensor. Didn't work correctly probably 2 years. Finally fixed. Whew."

Joan G., MD (2005 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)

"Blower was flaky, i.e., it made noises from a wheeze to a crescendoed racket, when we bought the car in 2010; we got an estimate for a replacement but it was more than we wanted to pay. The blower finally died this month and will be replaced"

R S., NJ (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"Blower had to be replaced"

Ken H., NJ (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"A mouse had built a nest in the ductwork"

Anonymous, AB (2005 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)

"It stopped blowing air. I couldn't get the vehicle to defrost the windshield. Repaired the motor, but it still makes a strange noise and occasionally sounds like something gets stuck (it screams at me). At that point, I have to turn off the fan to stop the noise"

Melissa V., OH (2005 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)

"My Honda blower motor and air mix motor both needed replacement. Honda has high failure rate on these parts, and take advantage of this by charging a high price for replacement parts"

"Had three headlights go out in the past year"

Anonymous, WA (2005 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)

"We have chronic headlight condensation in our right headlight. Even after replaced, the problem remains. Causes bulbs to burn out prematurely, we think, as well, as the right light goes out many more times than the left ever has gone out"

Anonymous, VA (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"Had to replace sensor as headlight repeatedly burnt out"

Andrew N., ON (2005 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)

"Have to replace bulbs in headlights about once a month"

Anonymous, AR (2005 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)

"I have had a persistent issue with headlights. I replace bulbs on an annual-ish basis. Don't remember seeing that with any other vehicle I owned. Honda updated a portion of the wiring harness related to the headlights, but I'm not convinced that the change fixed the problem. This has been the only substantive and repeatable complaint I have for a vehicle I otherwise have enjoyed owning."

Anonymous, VA (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"The headlights will intermittently just not work. The brights will work, which is helpful, but annoying to other drivers!"

Elizabeth M., CA (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"On an annual basis, I replace headlight bulbs when one burns out. The dealer fixed a recall item related to the wiring harness associated with the headlights, but this does not seem to have resolved the issue. The issue is a quirk that I have accepted with an otherwise excellent vehicle."

Anonymous, VA (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)
Heated or cooled seats

"Dash switches for both front seats needs to be replaced. Unfortunately seats have not functioned correctly since repair was attempted by local Honda dealer"

Randy C., NE (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"Keyless entry was part of key, battery failed and they cannot open key to replace without damaging key, they want $250 for a new key. Given this is a second vehicle I just use the valet key to drive it"

Mike L., MD (2005 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)
Tire pressure monitor

"Comes on often"

Anonymous, LA (2005 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)

"This is an on again/off again warning light that the dealership says could be a major issue - but won't discuss it. I believe it is just a failing sensor, but there is no way to determine without a costly visit to the dealer."

Jim G., IL (2005 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)

"The dash light comes on with the tire system, but the tire pressure is good"

Kent S., GA (2005 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"Sometimes get a warning light that tire pressure monitor is not working. I just check the tires manually to ensure pressure is good, not paying $$ to fix TPM on 2005 vehicle"

Mike L., MD (2005 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)

"HAD A TOTAL FAILURE ON ONE. TIRE SHOP SAID PROBABLY JUST AGE"

Anonymous, AB (2005 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)

"Airbags have been plagued by recalls. Throughout, my indicator light remained on and Honda refused to fix it unless I paid them. Sometime after the last recall the light went out. The light passes the startup test, so I know it didn't burn out. All this scandal with their airbags, and Hondas position is always don't worry, it's no big deal; but we have new cars you can buy-- Really? Why would I buy a new Honda when the one I have is defective? The whole airbag debacle is scandalize, Honda should of just come out and said all airbag malfunctions are covered at no charge. They didn't, and for three years I drove a vehicle with an airbag indicator light on not knowing if the bags would work, or just blow up in my face and kill/maim me. The reassurance memo from their CEO was a bunch of BS as well. No dealership was willing to loan me a vehicle while my airbags were being repaired. They were however very willing to sell me one. Honda must think their customers are morons or so enamored with their automobiles, that we just automatically buy them regardless of a problem. No thanks! I'll shop around next time. Honda definitely has a trust issue with their customers, but acts dumb, like it does not exist. Honda, I'm not buying a $40,000 vehicle with defective airbags!!!!"

"A consistent noise over the past 3 months which sounds like rattling bearings somewhere but I can't isolate. Based on past experience I would say it might be the water pump, but there is no loss of fluid or erratic temperature reading YET"

Anonymous, MD (2005 Honda Pilot 3.5-L V6)

"Sometimes when the AC is on, a whining noise happens; it usually stops if we turn the AC off & turn it back on. It never makes the noise when we take it to the repair guy...!"
