What Owners Say
"Calipers seazed up causing vibration"
Roy A., NJ (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"see previous answer"
Laurence P., NY (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Front rotor locked up on Pilot. Had dealer repair. $480. Then one of the bolts holding the caliper on fell off when I was about 100 miles from home on a Sunday afternoon. No one open."
Anonymous, (2013 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"The car feels like it does not have adequate brakes for the size of vehicle it is.Rear brakes commonly seize causing front rotors to worp. This happens once or twice a year. Never have I owned a vehicle that requires constant servicing."
Anonymous, (2013 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)"Left front caliper locked up. Had to be replaced. Total $528."
Anonymous, MI (2013 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"The calipers warped within 5000 miles of owning the car and I have had to argue with Honda to get them fixed. They said they replaced everything a few months ago but I still have vibration"
Anonymous, PA (2013 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)"Experienced vibrations in the front of the vehicle when the brake pedal was pushed. With 65,000 miles on the vehicle it was time to get the rotors and brake pads replaced. New pads and rotors solved my problems."

Anonymous, GA (2013 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)"Brakes grabbing when stopping"
Anonymous, SC (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Have had 3 brake jobs on this vehicle--I believe it probably needed one when I bought it, but it was not done. Within 3 months of purchase, I had to replace front brakes, then 3 months later, rotors and rear brakes, a sensor and had to take it back twice regarding vibration in the steering wheel and poor response when braking--pushing to far before brakes responded correctly. This was never satisfactorily resolved. I had a fender bender a few months ago, and the body shop also had to have my brakes recalibrated before they would release the repaired car to me!"
Anonymous, MS (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Happened twice. Honda would not cover cost to repair"
Anonymous, VA (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"twice in past year I have had to bring the car to the honda dealer for brake service due to sticking calipers and corrosion of the rotors, Two weeks ago the rear brake pads were replaced and the rotor had to be ground down to remove rough surface,"
Laurence P., NY (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Front brakes began making a thumping sound when stopping from 40 m.p.h. or faster. This caused a vibration similar to the brake discs being out of round. Honda dealer repaired problem at no cost, but suggested replacing partially worn pads to minim"
Anonymous, NJ (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"I don’t do a lot of city driving and I’m disappointed having had to replace my brakes."
Karl G., WI (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Rear brakes"
Karl G., WI (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"This has been a problem since the car was new. The brakes were resurface 3 times and then had to be replaced recently. Still having problems with it. Honda don't seem to think that it's really a problem."
Anonymous, VA (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Factory rotors easily warped. Aftermarket rotors seem to work better, not sure why. We almost always use factory Honda replacement parts."
Anonymous, PA (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Damper pots leaked fluid causing front wheel vibration. New parts and front end alignment fixed. All under warranty."
Anonymous, AR (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"I have had the rotor resurfaced to fix pulsation. Issue has returned. I do not believe the rotors are properly designed for braking this size car"
Anonymous, VA (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Honda apparently used cheap metal in these rotors which caused them to warp and vibrate excessively. Had to buy new rotors to correct the problem."
Anonymous, OH (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"when traveling at highway speeds between 50 and 65 mph, the steering wheel, dashboard, seemed like the whole vehicle would shake/vibrate. Also when braking at slow or fast speeds, the same thing would happen and the vehicle would also feel like it might not be able to stop; although it always did."
Anonymous, MA (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Significant vibration of steering mechanism at speeds above 40 mph"
Anonymous, GA (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"Had to turn the front roters at just over 60000 miles."
Anonymous, OH (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"This seemed to begin almost from day-1. When I took it back to the dealer, they said it was normal. So I drove it (and tried never to ever hard-stop) until it was time for replacement. Fortunately, most of my driving is/was highway."
Anonymous, OH (2013 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)"I took the car into the dealership with this complaint and they said nothing was wrong with the rotors or calipers so I am not sure why the problem is occurring. It stops on a dime though so it is not affecting the performance of the car but it is certainly annoying."
Anonymous, OH (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"the problem only occures when braking during a sharp turn, such as turning into a driveway from a busy street. the steering wheel vibrates and there is a chattering sound from the wheel. I suspect the anti lock brake system. No loss of control. It stops immediately when the turn is completed."
Anonymous, TX (2013 Honda Pilot Touring 3.5-L V6)"Vibration in the brakes when applied. Started after my car was serviced (tires rotated) at Honda Dealer. Dealer checked and cleaned rotors, but vibration came back after few days. I was told that rotors could warp if driven in rain water! I replied that more likely grease got on them during service of tires. That is unsatisfactory, and is a safety hazard. Dealer did not correct problem as said it was not covered by warrenty!"

Honda did give me some relief in fixing my brakes, but the brake design was clearly flawed, and I never have understood why a factory recall was not issued. We had the same problem with our 2013 Odyssey."

Our 2001 Accord had similar problems when we drove it more, but yet our 1991 accord never had that problem in nearly 300000 miles. Honda seems to have badly compromised the quality of their rotors and thus their braking system"
