Although the previous Pilot was previously considered a Top Pick in this category, we were disappointed with this model. It lost ground on interior fit and finish, as well as braking. Road noise remains omnipresent and the center console is crowded. That said, the Pilot is a very functional vehicle. Fuel economy is improved by one mpg overall, it still seats eight, and it drives pretty well.

What Owners Say

Cylinder head

"On trips longer than 8 hours the vehicle would start to overheat and engine would get rough. Had to stop a couple of times to let the engine rest for about 15 minutes then I could continue with my travel. Took vehicle to Honda dealer and they diagnosed a problem with the number 4 cyclinder and replaced it for free even though I had almost 200,000 miles on the vehicle"

"related to piston ring, cylinder had to be removed and cleaned. Problem was previously misdiagnosed by another Honda dealer"

Jeffrey P., FL (2010 Honda Pilot EX 3.5-L V6)

Anonymous, ON (2010 Honda Pilot LX 3.5-L V6)

When I took the car in to the dealer for regular maintenance, they ran a diagnostics test and noted that the timing belt and camshaft had been affected. Anonymous, KY (2010 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5-L V6)

"The AC would work intermittently , which became a problem last summer. I eventually troubleshot the issue since the compressor would only engage occasionally or not at all when AC was needed. After doing some research and testing i found out that the compressor just would not engage because of a faulty electrical relay. Its apparently a problem with the Honda Pilots around this time. It was annoying however I'm glad a simple relay replacement (which i did myself) and not a bad compressor."
