Just ahead of me, a right rear tire exploded, filling the air with large tire fragments. I jerked the wheel to the right to avoid the large tire segment, then jerked the wheel to the left to try to avoid a foot-long tire tread segment, which hit my right fender. At that high speed, jerking the wheel one way and then the other, the Hyundai remained in perfect control."
