I took the car back to the dealer 3 times during the next 4 years to complain about the problem. 1st time I was told "this is not a race car", 2nd time I was told they reset the transmission to factory defaults, 3rd time I was told this is normal. My wife does not like to drive this car because of the slipping and hard shifting. It is mot noticeable when trying to speed up to merge into traffic or go uphill. Still not resolved as I do not want to waste any more of my time going to a dealer that can't or won't fix the problem."

I took it to the dealer and was told that although the car had only 60,000 miles (on a 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty), it would not be a covered. The reason was that the faulty solenoid was bolted to the outside of the transmission case rather than the inside. Wonderful example of when a warranty is not a warranty. Since the car was operating normally (except for a rare hard shift into overdrive), I did not get it replaced, choosing instead to drive it until the solenoid fails, then replace it myself for $60 rather than $260."
