What Owners Say
"The steering lacks feel or feed back on centre. Other manufacturers get their electric steering right. ???"
DAVID R., ON (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Good handling - different steering modes to choose from."
DAVID P., PA (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"the acceleration is a bit slow and jerky"
LAURA H., OH (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Very lazy acceleration, rear suspension makes the car dancing on uneven road - non secure driving (on dry road). Excessive engine and road noise."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"I think accelerating is challenging at times, especially is air conditioner is on. I also find steering stiff."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Looses power/won't accelerate, currently in the Hyundai shop for 5 weeks with problem. Lemmon law fieled."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Handles really well, especially cornering. We always drive in Eco mode so acceleration is adequate but not stellar."
FRANK K., CO (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"VERY POOR traction in snow. In fact it is the only car in 27 years that I can't get up my driveway when there is some snow on the driveway."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"All good, the best handling car I have ever owned, and the acceleration is more than adequate even in eco mode. Goes up steep hills with no effort."
Anonymous, PA (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"We find it very comfortable in town and surprisingly comfortable on the highway. I'm surprised; we intended it for city driving only. At highway speeds, it gets excellent gas mileage. And while most reviewers disliked the handling, but I find it very good; planted and controllable."
JAMES F., SC (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"hugs the road very well; handles turns very well. must be patient to get the vehicle up to desired speed."
JOSEPH C., FL (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Brakes are somewhat loud at times when braking suddenly."
ERIC R., MD (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Car hesitates on part-throttle acceleration from both standing start or rolling start. For a 2 litre engine, the apparent power is disappointingly sparse and this makes turning across traffic and merging problematic if not dangerous."
Anonymous, TX (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"I had an 06 Elantra which was a great car. It was eaiser on the road. The 14 is more like a race car. Road noise is a problem."
JOHN R., TX (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"It handles very well and has good acceleration."
TERRY M., CA (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Handling is nice. Great gas mileage and a great car for someone in sales."
NANCY M., AL (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Easy to park, turn, etc. Hugs the road and feels comfortable driving."
Marie C., NY (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Acceleration is bit lackluster for this size of vehicle. Handling and turning radius could be tighter."
Anonymous, CO (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Very good handling and acceleration. Never feels out of control, better than average but not quite sporty acceleration. Corners well, steering is comfortable and reliable."
Anonymous, NM (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Very snappy and quick handling and acceleration. It drives and performs very nicely for a 4-cylinder"
Anonymous, NE (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"173 hp says it all... not a turbo either. Goes well!"
Craigg B., ON (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"It does terrible in snow. Even put different tires on which helped but still not that great!"
Paige B., IN (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"THE BRAKES DON'T LAST. OTHERWISE IT IS OK"
Anonymous, NY (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"It hugs the road well (taking corners on the freeway, etc.). Acceleration is good (being on a four cylinder), not exceptional."
Anonymous, ID (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"acceleration is a bit sluggish, handling is average."
Anonymous, VA (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"I am not feeling safe on uneven roads. Rear suspenssion makes strange movement. When I slow down automatic transmission does not change gear down, I have to switch to manual gears. Acceleration is so so."
Adam P., ON (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Car has good acceleration and handles very well and is good on turning/ curves"
Robert B., MO (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Acceleration is good, and handling is good most times. Occasionally when a bump or pothole is hit, it has a body roll."
Anonymous, CO (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"Nice looking compact from outside. Beautifil shape of lights. Horrible road noise, ugly and high engine noise. Harsh uncomfortable driving (feeling like on wooden tires). Very bad floating rear suspension. Very high fuel consumption. Week, lazy engine. Cheap plastics inside."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"acceleration can seem a bit sluggish"
William P., CT (2014 Hyundai Elantra)"My Elantra GT accelerates quite well, very peppy and good enough for me, especially for the price, but also not quite to the level you would expect with a GT badge. No problems getting on the highway or going up hills, passing in traffic, etc. Handling is good, it steers and corners well, doesn't fight me and centers pretty well. I feel confident driving it, and it feels somewhat sporty even if it doesn't have a super-powerful engine. The "driving modes" don't really feel like they're doing much..."
Anonymous, NM (2014 Hyundai Elantra)
"The gear shifting is not very responsive to the road. Turning corners requires more handling(acceleration and steering) then I'm used to. Driving up moderate hills requires heavier footwork than it should. My previous 2005 Elantra was excellent in these regards."
IRWIN R., NV (2014 Hyundai Elantra)
