Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

"The radio unit failed. It was repaired at no cost"

Russ C., CA (2012 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Radio stopped working and the vehicle had to be taken to the dealer who ultimately only pressed a tiny 'reset' button on the dash to get the radio to function again"

Anonymous, MB (2012 Hyundai Tucson Limited 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The volume control on the steering hub sometimes causes the radio to change channels rather than volume."

John S., NY (2012 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

Driveshaft or axle

"- [x] Purchase vehicle December 2018 and initially thought it was an alignment issue however had vehicle alignment several times and problem with steering did not resolve and has become much worse. Now when I drive it feels like I'm turning the steering wheel in one direction but vehicle is driving at a slant. It feels like my back end is shifting to one side or the other. First dealer said it was pulling bc of electronic steering and I was just not used to electronic power steering, but I have driven other vehicles with electronic power steering. It's difficult to hold "center" without constant steering correction and veering left and right into other lanes almost causing accidents. No pull to any one side but continuous steering correction needed to hold lane. Even when I drive at freeway speeds by not over steering and relaxing my grip it still wanders left and right - [ ] Has been in shop about several time for pulling they said it was bad tires but tire shop inspected the tires which were new when I purchased and nothing was wrong with tires. Another dealer said that it was the crowning in road."
