Infiniti's flagship is among our top-rated luxury sedans. Handling is agile and the interior is nicely finished. Performance is strong, and fuel economy has improved, even with the power increase. But the engine can sound a bit raspy when revved high. A wide variety of electronic safety technologies is available, though the features range from useful to simply annoying.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"The car handles like a much smaller lighter vehicle. It generally has a great blend of sportiness and luxury."

Kenneth K., CA (2011 Infiniti M)

"Drives better than German rivals. Fast out of the gate. Handles turns and responds quickly."

Anonymous, OH (2011 Infiniti M)

"Very responsive engine and transmission. Love the smoothness and torque from a naturally aspirated V6!"

Robert B., HI (2011 Infiniti M)

"Great"

Marshall W., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"My car has nearly 120,000 miles so I need to get my struts replaced. There is also some squeaking from the chassis during breaking (not from the brakes). Other than that, this car is a lot of fun to drive hard. It accelerates well (but only when it is in SPORT mode), brakes quickly, and turns i rapidly. With the rear-biased AWD system, you can push the tail to the outside with a quick stab of the throttle mid-turn and the car complies. Keep in mind that this is a two-ton midsize luxury sedan so it won't move as quickly as a smaller vehicle like a 3 series, C-class, Lexus IS or even an Infiniti Q50. But it's fun for what it is."

Aleksey D., KY (2011 Infiniti M)

"The M goes fast, looks good and has a great sounding exhaust system. Great value."

Thomas L., PA (2011 Infiniti M)

"one of the best car i had since i have it ,there was not need for any repair, acceleration is amazing, fast to pass a car, handling is great , i will keep this car till it fall in piece"

Thierri F., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"The car has a lot of power, but accelerates quietly. The handling is firm."

Anonymous, NJ (2011 Infiniti M)

"It hesitates before acceleration kicks in."

James M., CA (2011 Infiniti M)

"great acceleration and great handling!"

Anonymous, CA (2011 Infiniti M)

"The car has several options for engine acceleration I usually use economy and there is adequate acceleration when needed. The ride is very soft and quiet."

Don H., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"Love my V8 it appears they have or might discontinue, that would be a shame! Love the power!"

Anonymous, GA (2011 Infiniti M)

"A fairly large family sedan, this car has nice accelration and drives with a more sporty feel of a smaller car."

Anonymous, FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"Super acceleration and driving characteristics love the car"

Anonymous, MD (2011 Infiniti M)

"Great on curves. It's M56S. Tons of power."

James R., WI (2011 Infiniti M)

"Strong acceleration up hills, with a good balance of handling stiffness vs ride compliance. Great for sitting in traffic or hustling through the twisties."

Robert B., HI (2011 Infiniti M)

"Nothing bad to report. Drives and handles great.."

Anonymous, NY (2011 Infiniti M)

"It is not as powerful as it had been. for the gas consumption, the power is unacceptable. I think the transmission may be going bad and for 96,000 miles there should not be any transmission problems. I think that quality on Infiniti has declined from my previous Infiniti. I guess Nissan learned from Renault."

IRA H., CO (2011 Infiniti M)

"NA motor has great response, but forget ECO MODE this v6 is a little thirstier than the competition. Steering is light, but direct, especially for having AS tires on the NON-S model. On-center feel is a little vague, but the effort and feedback increases steadily as the car turns harder communicating grip and the feel of the road. This is truly an underrated car for driving among your normal german options."

BO J., AL (2011 Infiniti M)

"Has great pick up and go when needed! GREAT handling."

Anonymous, GA (2011 Infiniti M)

"Not the best acceleration, but adequate"

GEORGE R., MD (2011 Infiniti M)

"It's excellent in all regards EXCEPT the large turning radius makes it hard to park."

Anonymous, VA (2011 Infiniti M)

"This is the best all around vehicle that I have ever pwned"

F R., NC (2011 Infiniti M)

"I have the M37x. This car is quick! Acceleration is outstanding and handling is superb. Could be quieter inside - depending on road surface, car can be noisy. Bose audio system is good, but not nearly as good as Alpine system in my RAM 1500. Overall, a very good automobile."

ROBERT B., WA (2011 Infiniti M)

"I live in the mountains-extremely good handling and passing acceleration"

Anonymous, GA (2011 Infiniti M)

"the infinity M37 drives great. It accelerates and handles better than most cars of its size and weight."

JOHN S., CA (2011 Infiniti M)

"Transmission is strange."

JEFF C., NC (2011 Infiniti M)

"Good - very quick acceleration. 330HP."

MICHAEL S., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"Love the way it drives. Excellent comfort over the road."

GEORGE B., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Seat are ventilated which is nice but need to push more air through to make colder. The car has too much road and wind noise. The ride can be a bit unsettled."

Kenneth K., CA (2011 Infiniti M)

"The car is solid, and quiet"

Anonymous, NJ (2011 Infiniti M)

"Ride is awful, stiff, uncomfortable."

Anonymous, MD (2011 Infiniti M)

"Fast, responsive, smooth, easy to park good look and feel."

Anonymous, LA (2011 Infiniti M)

"This car is comfortable with low outside noise. The seats are comfortable for long trips"

Don H., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"this is a tall car and easy to get into the seats (SUV like); I find most cars seem to go for a low style stance. Seats are heated and cooled which is nice. Very quite and rides well on most roads."

John M., ON (2011 Infiniti M)

"Seat controls are pretty good with wide range of adjustment fore/aft, up/down, incline/decline, and lumbar support. Only wish you could adjust the vertical position of the lumbar support, but other than that it works well. The seat cushion bottoms are rather short, and I am only 5'10" tall. The seat leather is a little bit more slippery than I would like. There is a moderate amount of road noise while driving, but it is still better than a non-luxury car (i.e. Honda Accord or Mazda 6). It's not as quiet as a Lexus, but it's comparable to a BMW. The dashboard is absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful, flowing design and a large 8" touchscreen to navigate the infotainment system. The knobs and buttons are high-quality, feel good to the touch, and fall easily to the hand. Most functions have redundant controls."

Aleksey D., KY (2011 Infiniti M)

"good seats and headroom (I am 6'3")"

Anonymous, MA (2011 Infiniti M)

"Great seats and Bose stereo is powerful."

James R., WI (2011 Infiniti M)

"You sit higher than a lot of cars, the seats are very comfortable for long trips and it provides a quiet ride. Easy to listen to audio books while driving in a nice quiet setting."

George B., FL (2011 Infiniti M)

"Beautifully designed cabin with nice flowing lines and a luxurious feel. Seats are comfortable and the cooling feature will spoil you on a hot summer day."

Robert B., HI (2011 Infiniti M)

"Seats uncomfortable for road trips"

Anonymous, MN (2011 Infiniti M)

"the noise level when driving is higher than i would expect"

JOHN T., NJ (2011 Infiniti M)

"dislike all the road noise"

Anonymous, TX (2011 Infiniti M)

"This car handles and performs extremely well for a car of its size. We are a little disappointed that, particularly on some road surfaces, the level of noise is not under better control. If it was still 2011 I would buy this car again, but when we replace this car I will look closely at CR as I will need to look at the A6 and E class - even the CT6."

MURRAY C., MA (2011 Infiniti M)

"The ride is sporty and matches the acceleration, etc. but I find as I am getting older that a smoother ride would be preferable."

PAUL N., VT (2011 Infiniti M)

"Bluetooth phone sound quality is poor."

Anonymous, FL (2011 Infiniti M)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"This car cost more than ten thousand dollars less than comparable German luxury brands, and delivered superior reliability and performance. Only the handling fails to equal the German competition."

Scott B., MA (2011 Infiniti M)

Styling

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Great looking car, nice lines."

ROBERT G., AZ (2011 Infiniti M)

"too bland; does not stand out"

Anonymous, MD (2011 Infiniti M)

"In short...looks like a perched Panther on the outside and "modern antiquity" on the inside (a great thing in my opinion, especially when so many newer luxury vehicles look the tablet isle at Best Buy now)"

JEROME M., GA (2011 Infiniti M)

"Beautiful stylish vehicle"
