The Cherokee is old-fashioned and trucklike. It's a good off-road vehicle, but it's noisy and uncomfortable on pavement, where SUVs spend most of their time. Cornering is clumsy, though secure. The six-cylinder engine delivers plenty of power, but it's noisy and thirsty. Still, it's a better choice than the Four. Selectable full-time four-wheel drive is optional.

"The Jeep is now almost 18 years old. The seats are still comfortable, but I would prefer if the front seats could slide back farther. It has a fairly smooth ride, but with some bouncing over bumps - it's a jeep, so it's supposed to do that. Compared to other Jeeps I've been in, this is a very quiet and smooth ride. Still noisier than other vehicles, but expected for a Jeep."
