"The Jeep 3.0L EcoDiesel is a great engine - a lot of torque available at every speed thanks to the quick-shifting 8-speed transmission. Acceleration is instantaneous, without the typical step-down delay to rev the engine - very handy in traffic. Decent handling and surprisingly economical for a mid-size SUV: 23 MPG in neighborhood stop-n-go and 28+ MPG on the highway. I truly appreciate the diesel when towing. We bought an early 2014 model, which had issues at first, but once FCA figured out the DEF and exhaust system (installing a revised particulate-collector/catalytic-converter that moved the DEF injector location) it has run flawlessly for us. Our Overland-version has the transfer-case option, allowing it to be flat-towed behind a motorhome - a big plus for us."

I own a 1999 jeep Cherokee and it has had one or two minor repairs since new other than expected maintenance."

"We have recently had problems with the transmission. The dealership was not able to replicate the problem. At times the Jeep will not go out of park. This has happened 3 times in the last 3 months. So far turning the vehicle off and restarting after a few minutes has worked but not sure if and when we might become stranded because of this. We were told the problem is most likely a computer issue and the repair (if they were able to confirm) would cost over $2k. We plan to trade this vehicle in the near future."

"I purchased the 3.0L Turbo Diesel and it is a great engine. I can easily obtain 30mpg on the highway and 24mpg around town. I tow an 18' car trailer and my Corvette to events and I consistently get 21-22mpg when towing. The vehicle is comfortable and trouble free. I've even grown to like the Diesel clatter. We use this vehicle for all long distance travel. I'd buy it again."

"For a diesel this vehicle accelerates very well and brakes very well. The handling is terrific and I have towed a 3000-3500 pound enclosed trailer and there was no swaying the engine always had enough power and my fuel mileage was acceptable at 14-15 mpg."

"Quite a few recalls on the vehicle and time from notice of recall to having it fixed is significant - months to get the work done. One was over a year and waiting for one now that we were notified on back in January 2018. So then all you do is worry about the car. Cannot stop using the vehicle due to recall. So what is the alternative???? Overall we are very please with the vehicle despite the recalls. Always take it to the dealership to check safety on all recalls and make them aware we are concerned about the recall and driving the car until it is repaired. They all assure us the we are ok. This seems sketchy at best!"

"Rapid acceleration for getting on highways & freeways is great! I live in hilly country, so I love it's tight handling of curves. The feature I love most is when going down a steep hill, you can brake hard once, and it will hold that speed all the way down the hill."

"Acceleration with the 5.7 L V8 Hemi is extremely good. Very seldom need to use sport mode for acceleration. I drive on icy / snow covered roads extensively in the winter using snow tires. When the vehicle is in snow / ice mode it holds the road very well. In summer, handling is excellent. Only criticism is a slight engine vibration with "ECO" mode in traffic."

"In the last 12 months, several valve lifters failed and severe damage was done to the cam shaft and associated components. Under warranty, Jeep rebuilt the engine, replacing all the damaged components. Jeep was out of service for nearly a month. Since that time, the engine and transmission do NOT behave the same as new. "This vehicle is easy to get in and out of. The window sill is wide, padded and not too high, which makes it comfortable to rest my left arm. I looked at 95 vehicles - in my car-buying endeavor - and very few had comfortable window sill. The RIGHT armrest is comfortable too. Visibility at the 6:00 and 4:30 positions are good, especially if you lower the right-rear headrest (for the latter). Console and dash storage is pretty good. The visor slides well, making it a good blocker of the sun. Glove box is lighted and easy to access. Vented seats are a great feature on summer days. I really didn’t want the sunroof, but it came with the vented seats (all or nothing)."
