10 Best Luxury SUVs for 2026, Tested by Consumer Reports
Many upscale SUVs and crossovers share their DNA with mainstream models. Our exclusive test data and member surveys reveal the premium SUVs our auto experts found truly justify their higher prices.
Luxury SUVs are often based on existing mainstream models. The Lexus TX, for example, is built on the same platform as the Toyota Grand Highlander. To create the Acura MDX, engineers start with the Honda Pilot’s platform.
The result is a vehicle with the same commanding view of the road, all-wheel-drive capability, and the passenger space of a mainstream crossover SUV, but wrapped in a more stylish body. The interior features premium leather and suede touchpoints, real wood or aluminum trim, and additional sound-dampening materials to further quiet the cabin. Higher-tier trim levels feature multiple digital displays, turbocharged high-performance engines, and panoramic glass roofs.
But even among these exclusive models, some perform better than their peers. To find out which models truly deliver, we analyzed our comprehensive road-test data and member surveys to rank the best luxury SUVs and crossovers based on their Consumer Reports Overall Score.
