The Miata is a fun-to-drive, low-slung little roadster, with pinpoint handling, instant power delivery, and a crisp manual gearbox. Excellent fuel economy is an extra bonus. While it remains very tight, the cabin has grown a little more livable over the years. The ride is surprisingly tolerable, but cabin noise can grow wearying on long cruises.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

“The power retractable hard top is very convenient. Finding a comfortable seat position is easy. This Miata doesn't take curves as firmly as my 32 previous Miatas. Apparently my last one, 2000, had a stiffer suspension package.”

MICHAEL D., CA (2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata)

“Seats need more lumbar support. They're fine for short trips, but my back will be aching after a trip if an hour or more. Also, road noise is significant, particularly on certain types of asphalt. Noise level at highway speeds are high enough that stereo needs to be cranked up to hear it.”

RANDY F., CA (2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata)

“The interior is quite cramped for taller people”

PATRICK M., ON (2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

NA

What Owners Say

“Very fortunate to get a certified pre-owned Anniversary Model that had never been titled with only 800 miles (press vehicle)”

FRANK D., VA (2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata)

“Mine is the 25th Anniversary Edition - only 100 made for North America. As such I suspect it will hold its value and possibly even increase in value over the years.”

MICHAEL D., CA (2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata)

If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
