What Owners Say
"The Forester accelerates smoothly and brakes straight. The CVT transmission is fantastic. The all wheel drive system works flawlessly. I cannot say anything bad about this vehicle."
John M., NM (2014 Subaru Forester)"Nice acceleration and smooth handling"
Bruce S., TX (2014 Subaru Forester)"It is a turbo. The acceleration is excellent with no downshift noise. (CVT transmission) Handles very well, grips the road and cornering well. AWD provides a sense of added safety. Use in the snow occasionally."
Mike K., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Love the view, large front windows. Great auto for shorter folks. Easy entry and exiting. Love my Forester."
Lou W., ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"drives well but my Mercedes is steadier at high speeds. Thenavigation system shows the route but dies not want to talkd to me. Frud\strating"
Dan T., WY (2014 Subaru Forester)"I was driving in the fast lane at about 65 MPH, when a car stopped in a left turn lane, right next to my lane, suddenly pulled out in front of me (about 25 to 30 feet); I quickly turned right and then a quick left into the next lane. The Subaru reacted perfectly and I donĆ¢ā¬ā¢t think any car I have owned in the past would have done it without a rollover into the ditch. My wife was with me and could not believe what what had just happened. The vision out of this car is better than any vehicle IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve ever driven as well. My wife is only 5 ft. Tall and she too really loves this car. On trips or longer highway driving, we usually get about 37 MPG."
Donald V., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Not as comfortable as the Outback"
Anonymous, MT (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handles great! Gas pedal is a bit touchy starting out."
Edward V., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"I have taken this vehicle on very difficult back country terrain and it performed like a champ. Slickrock wet and dry, Mancos shale in the wet - nothing deters it."
Leslie S., MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"Predictability in handling Adequate acceleration in all situations"
John E., BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"CVT transmission is xtremely good at matching vehicle load and terrain to engine pms. After fifty years of driving standard shift vehicles I was aprehensive about going to an automatic but Subaru has nailed the engine/load/speed response. Excellent!"
John C., MA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handles very well and good acceleration"
Gene T., TN (2014 Subaru Forester)"It can get up to highway speed effectively. No hesitation. Safe feeling when I am using an on ramp in Atlanta, for instance. Vision around the car is outstanding. I feel very safe when driving."
Denver N., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good pick up, excellent in the snow."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"One of the few vehicles with a stick shift left. I wish more had this feature."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is jerky and slow. Braking isn't great. I experience a lot of lean on cornering. Not at all fun to drive."
Anonymous, PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"I like the acceleration"
Anonymous, NJ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great pickup"
Mary P., VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excelleration is great. Handles the snow like a dream. I feel very safe in this car."
Anonymous, WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"Same engine as Outback but shorter wheel base and overall less weight makes it feel more nimble on the road."
Len S., IL (2014 Subaru Forester)"The vehicle doesn't seem as stable as previously owned Subarus during poor weather conditions."
Michael C., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Fantastic on snowy roads and rough roads."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling is fine, and for a non-turbo, acceleration is adequate, but I would go forca turbo next time."
Anonymous, IN (2014 Subaru Forester)"great car for city driving...handles well and easy to maneuver"
Anonymous, AK (2014 Subaru Forester)"Touchy accelerator; can't start smoothly without a great deal of concentration."
Anonymous, OR (2014 Subaru Forester)"Don't expect a lot when you step on the gas. That said, for secure driving in snow and bad weather the Forester is terrific. The AWD is simple and good."
Anonymous, CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"I like the CVT transmission"
Anonymous, CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration is very sensitive and when stopped and begin to accelerate, it lurches forward. This can be very dangerous."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Often difficult to accelerate smoothly. The accelerator pedal probably tied to computer rather than mechanical linkage."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Turbo model: accelerates and handles as well as my prior 2010 Mercedes-Benz, so I sold that as there was no need for both."
Eric L., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Very good handling and visibility especially for an SUV"
Anonymous, VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is good with quick response and the car handles very nicely especially in rain and snow conditions. Turning radious is great."
Milton H., TX (2014 Subaru Forester)"Wimpy. Slow to accelerate. Boring to drive. Engine is too small for the vehicle. It should be able to do more including towing more."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good acceleration and handling, enjoy driving."
L R., UT (2014 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration on the Forester is excellent. The handling is similar to that of a larger sports car."
Anonymous, IN (2014 Subaru Forester)"It is very stable on the road, in all weather conditions. Off-road it is very grippy; as long as I have clearance it will go just about anywhere."
Mark F., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Quick acceleration ,"
Nina A., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Quicik acceleration and all wheel drive works great"
Richard C., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Runs great, good fuel milage. A little noisey in the cabin at highway speeds."
David B., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Needs broader spectrum of gear ratios on the cvt to allow for highway speeds on US interstate system,"
Don O., TN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling is very good for a SUV and the Forester works great off road, providing good clearance and traction. The CVT takes some getting used to, but works well. I especially like being able to set a throttle position, which establishes engine RPM and thus rate of acceleration, and letting the vehicle accelerate at that fixed RPM. Acceleration with the normally-aspirated 2.5 L 4-banger is anemic compared to my 2.0 L turbo Sonata, but adequate for normal use. It would be nice if the cruise control would let you communicate a maximum desirable RPM so it would not wind up the engine so much climbing hills."
Anonymous, ID (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is adequate. Handling is very good and is responsive. The size of the vehicle is perfect for my use, i.e. city driving. It is perfect In parking ramps."
Anonymous, MN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great performance while driving in snow or pacific northwest roads"
Anonymous, OR (2014 Subaru Forester)"I test drove multiple, 4 cylinder, small SUV models. The Subaru stood out because of its ability to accelerate up hills, and for its secure handling."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It does not hug the road while cornering the where are you I would like it to"
Anonymous, BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"A dead zone in transmission engagement when accelerating from a stop or after coasting at a slow speed. Causes an unnecessary Jerk instead of smooth acceleration"
Anonymous, VT (2014 Subaru Forester)"slow transmission changes from reverse to forward."
Anonymous, AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Ease of parking; ease of entry & exit; handling off-road & during inclement weather."
Anonymous, TX (2014 Subaru Forester)"the 2.0 XT model has a good combination of quite peppy performance and passing ability on two lane roads with better fuel mileage than any other car in its class. Handling is adequate given its ground clearance."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"4 wheel drive is awesome"
Anonymous, GA (2014 Subaru Forester)"all when drive handling"
Anonymous, BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration getting on freeways is very fast. I find the Gorester to be easy to handle. Others who have driven my car have remarked on the ease of use and the smooth ride."
Judith M., GA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It is acceptable for acceleration but I wishb it was faster to respond and I really like the style."
Peggie C., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"For an SUV, my Forester accelerates and handles like a sports car. It's so much fun to drive! Buying the turbo option was definitely a good move for me."
Robert B., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"turbo model gives excellent acceleration and response. I'm told the turbo will not be provided in the 2019 models."
Anonymous, TX (2014 Subaru Forester)"Poor acceleration when CVT is cold. Tranny locks down so you canĆ¢ā¬ā¢t accelerate at a normal rate."
Gary W., CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"It has good acceleration to get on to freeways and to get use passing lanes etc."
Anonymous, TX (2014 Subaru Forester)"I often go fishing and need to drive down some rough trails and logging roads. I have a lot of faith in my Forester to get me back out. I don't have to suffer the gas penalty of a truck to do this."
Stephen R., NB (2014 Subaru Forester)"The car turns into a lemon at 100,000 miles. Major rotor repair followed by a very serious computer issue. The CVT system broke. It was a such a known problem that Subaru offered to fix them for free up to 100,000 miles or July 31. Ours broke at 110,000 and initially just a few days before July 31, but dealer failed to recognize it. It truly and permanently broke a few days AFTER July 31. We are now on the hook for >$1K to fix it. Braking is unreliable in winter. It's too smart and tends to just not stop on ice when simpler cars would. Slow to shift from reverse to drive. Often lurches when it goes from 1st to 2nd. It looks like that may be the CVT."
Anonymous, OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great secure handling, Great traction, smooth and firm ride, love the CVT transition, secure breaking"
David V., VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"The all wheel drive system is perfect for northern New York state."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is good and handling is good to exceilent."
Andrew F., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"See priorcomments."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Much improved from our 2012 Subaru Forester"
Anonymous, CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"All around this vehicle exceeds in all the ride comfort dependable and service"
Gary S., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"It has good handling with fine acceleration but sometimes surges and loses power"
Ernest D., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Power and handling very good"
Bruce F., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration and handling are both quite satisfactory. Not powerful but meets our modest needs."
Michael D., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"good acceleration and handling"
Steve C., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Car handles very well, accelerates well"
Herbert F., SC (2014 Subaru Forester)"Smooth acceleration with CVT transmission with no shifting sounds or learches."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It accelerates very well from a stop. It rides well on the highway."
Mark C., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"This is one of its strongest attributes. I feel so comfortable driving this car as compared to others I've driven. Acceleration feels like it knows what its doing and handling likewise."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is good, but handling tends to be too quick because of short wheel base"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"All wheel drive is as good as the Audi system - and much better than all other AWD systems. Staying on the road in the winter is my top safety priority."
Anonymous, MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"This is a truly horrible, overpriced car. The engine/transmission jerks & hesitates under light acceleration and there's an excessive and unsafe delay when shifting from Reverse to Drive & vice-versa. Dealer has tried several "tweaks," without success. In light of all the Consumer Reports reviews & articles plastered throughout their showrooms, it's fairly obvious that Subaru is paying off (aka, bribing) CU to publish all these glowing reviews and ratings."
Charles S., NJ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Love the eyesight system used in adaptive cruise control. Good acceleration and easy handling."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"Lots of acceleration when ever needed. Handling a little touchy but easy."
Connie S., BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"One of the worst vehicles I have owned (out of 15) on these two characteristics. The acceleration is extremely uneven. It is too quick off the line (even with little throttle) and then too slow as it accelerates. It is as if they are trying to make up for slow overall acceleration with a quick 0-25 time (even if you don't or can't use it, due to traffic conditions). I have adjusted to it, but it is a problem for a new driver or occasional driver (primarily drives anther family car)."
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"The 2014 has increased acceleration over my previous Subaru, and it provides all the power that I require. Ride is very well controlled and steady."
Anonymous, NC (2014 Subaru Forester)"Poor acceleration, could have a more powerful motor. Noisy cubicle."
Anonymous, QC (2014 Subaru Forester)"very good acceleration and good pick-up on the interstate."
Anonymous, SC (2014 Subaru Forester)"It has a smooth and compliant ride."
Anonymous, PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Perhaps a bit too much acceleration. I really have to watch the speed when on the interstate. I have to use the Cruise Control to keep speed within legal limits."
Louise T., FL (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great acceleration. Handling in curves somewhat sloppy."
Anonymous, CT (2014 Subaru Forester)"This AWD has good handling and traction in snow."
Anonymous, QC (2014 Subaru Forester)"I have the turbo. Fantastic acceleration. Very nimble,"
Anonymous, ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"I'm not sure how I feel about the acceleration curve that you get. When you press the pedal, it definitely give the car a big goose to power, more than the amount you moved the pedal."
Ron H., VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Our Forester is reliable, responsive, and comfortable on extended journeys. Fuel economy is outstanding and comfort is very satisfying. The adaptive cruise control manages vehicle speed and interval distance on long drives which is very satisfying."
Ross H., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"sails uncomfortably with sidewinds."
Anonymous, MD (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration, nimble handling and excellent visibility"
Anonymous, MD (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration and handling are reasonable, but we do not really explore the limits. We never take it over very rough terrain as we do not think it really sturdy enough."
Anonymous, UT (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good handling, especially in winter."
Anonymous, WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Forester handles well, but you have to remember the center of gravity is higher than a regular car. Accelaration is quite good. Visibility is excellent. Handling is very good. Live the Forester. AWD is of courae standard."
Thomas Z., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Accelerates easily and appropriately when needed. Handles very well in all cases."
Anonymous, CT (2014 Subaru Forester)"It accelerates as I need it to. I find it handles very well especially on back roads and what limited off-roading I do."
Thomas R., WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"all wheel drive all the time-safety-comfort-security-roominess and utility"
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great snow car. over 8" ground clearance"
M B., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"excellent handling great traction on slick roads very easy to steer good acceleration for 4 cylinder"
Anonymous, TN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration and handling"
Anonymous, AR (2014 Subaru Forester)"It takes some time to get used to the accelerator pedal: the vehicle has a tendency to jump forward from a standing start with only a slight touch of the pedal."
Anonymous, IL (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration so-so. CVT transmission seemingly takes forever to engage from reverse into drive. Especially when cold, engine sounds like it belongs in a tractor."
John L., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"It is very stable and very nimble - I love the way it responds on curvy roads. Also with the All-wheel drive it goes in any kind of weather. I have yet to meet a snow storm in Ohio where I could not go out to the store for bread and milk. Being a Subaru, it is not going to beat many cars off the line, but it has plenty of power to handle super-highway speeds and the excellent handling makes it great for road trips."
Lee N., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration and handling."
Richard W., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling in snowy conditions is exceptional. I lived high up a steep hill that had frequent snow, and the Forrester handled snow well, both going uphill (AWD+traction control) and downhill (ABS)."
Anonymous, BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"CVT disengages, allowing car to roll when shifting into reverse"
Terence L., NJ (2014 Subaru Forester)"AGAIN THIS SUV HAS ALL THE POWER TO PERFORM IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER AND THE VISABILITY OUT OF THE CAR IS GREAT."
Elaine B., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"On ice and hard packed snow (slippery conditions) the vehicle would experience increasing back and forth oscillations to a point of loss of control unless the vehicle was quickly slowed. Minimally stable at 30-35 mph below surrounding traffic. Driver has much experience driving in winter conditions!"
Anonymous, VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"I still drive m y 1998 Subaru Forester and I love that car & it is my basis of comparison. I don't like the modern big pig looking style of the 2014. It is to dam big to wash & dry. The top is to high & to wide to use the roof for tie down straps for hauling oversize items. All around visibility & access was perfect with my 1998 Forester. My 1998 has a fun manual transmission. I really like the way the "SNOWMOBILE" type transmission operates on the 2014 and keeps the engine rpm lower at a constant rpm under normal acceleration. The interior noise level is to loud when I compare it to my 2004 Acura MDX that I also still have."
D P., MN (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Forester is plenty quick with high visibility and a quite, comfortable ride. X mode make the best all-wheel drive system even better. Pressing that button got me out of being hopelessly stuck in eight inches of snow after a wrong turn onto a "seasonal road" in northern Michigan late one 14 degree night - up a hill. After that I swore I would always own a Subaru."
Anonymous, MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration between 0 and 5 mph is inconsistent in its acceleration and it constantly jerks."
Brian D., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration and handling is good. Noise in the cabin could be improved."
Charles H., FL (2014 Subaru Forester)"I find this car to be reliable and I find it responds well."
Teresa G., NM (2014 Subaru Forester)"This car handles fantastically both in wet and snow conditions. It also reacts quickly in emergency situations. I have nevere had a car that bounces back as quickly as this one does."
Anonymous, MD (2014 Subaru Forester)"Surprisingly good acceleration for a four cylinder vehicle. Very tight turning radius."
Daniel F., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It handles very well stopping is excellent and acceleration is there when I need it"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is too abrupt from standing start, needs to be smoother. Acceleration is adequate. Basically handles well on road although bumpy roads are annoying (suspension too stiff?)."
Anonymous, MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"Reliable in all weather. Vehicle of choice for snow"
David P., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Forester is a little underpowered, but does handle acceptably in everyday driving."
William H., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"All wheel drive operates smoothly and is a necessary safety feature in the set and icy northwest."
Sharon A., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It has a lot of pep and can accelerate fast if needed."
Anonymous, CT (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Subaru lets you sit up a little higher than a regular sedan-style. Our Forester accelerates well and handles well in heavy rain, sleet and snow. We love it!"
Anonymous, WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"The driver's view of the road and surroundings is excellent. By using the 3 mirrors I avoid blind spots most of the time. I think the accelleration is adequate for passing or getting out of a tight spot. It turns a 360 degree circle very tightly in a small diameter circle. Parallel parking is easy."
Anonymous, ME (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling in snow and rain where there is diminished traction."
Anonymous, KY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Seats are comfortable. We frequently drive for 2 to 4 hours without stopping without fatigue."
Anonymous, NS (2014 Subaru Forester)"The maneuvering of the Subaru Forester is outstanding. The noise within the vehicle could be improved and the ride is too stiff."
Raymond B., AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent -- beyond excellent -- on icy and snow covered roads, even those with a significant slope!"
Elizabeth S., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is very good - no hesitation. Very good handling."
Karen E., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Quick acceleration with the turbo. X Drive handles through mud, sand, dirt with ease."
Anonymous, FL (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great front windshield vision. Much better than my Camrys front vision"
Anonymous, MA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handles well but acceleration could be faster I also learned it would not tow over 1500 lbs"
Anonymous, MN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration for the size of car. Handling is precise and stable."
Anonymous, OR (2014 Subaru Forester)"Very good acceleration, holds the road, steering wheel is responsive."
Anonymous, WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"The car handles and drives really well. Acceleration is inconsistent. When starting off slowly, it will really kick in. Other times it doesn't accelerate/change gears quick enough."
Greg S., BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"I do not like the CVT transmission. It pauses and jerks most times."
Robert T., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is very good for this vehicle, better than my lighter weight Civic. Handling is very responsive and nimble."
Robert C., NH (2014 Subaru Forester)"I found it acceleration was pretty good in the winter and handling quite well on the road. However, the road noise was bad on the highway."
Anonymous, AB (2014 Subaru Forester)"Absolutely fabulous in snow."
Ann A., NB (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good acceleration and all around visibility"
Dennis H., AB (2014 Subaru Forester)"reliability"
Anonymous, FL (2014 Subaru Forester)"With the standard CVT transmission shifting to a lower "gear" for engine braking has almost NO effect."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"I always feel in control no matter the conditions. Good acceleration. While some don't care for the cvt transmission I find it to be smoother operating than conventional transmissions yet very responsive. Also contributes to impressive fuel economy."
Jon K., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is only OK with the base engine. On the manual transmission, there is not much difference between 5th and 6th gear. Not only is fuel consumption higher than it could be, I have to make a point to skip 5th gear when either downshifting to accelerate, or up-shifting at a cruising speed."
Anonymous, WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"The continuous variable transmission causes a hesitation between shifting and moving that is disconcerting. It takes a few seconds to move after shifting into reverse or forward."
Laura M., WV (2014 Subaru Forester)"drives well"
Anonymous, NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"This car handles well but the accelerator pedal is much too sensitive.. If you touch the pedal lightly you take off like a rocket. I complained to the dealer, but was told there was nothing they could do about it"
E G., WA (2014 Subaru Forester)"very quick"
Anonymous, WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"The car is underpowered, not the first time you will have heard this. While I don't like CVT transmissions, the Forester's CVT works okay. It jusy needs more power."
William S., TN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Visibility in all directions particularly the back window. The cabin is dark inside at night with only red lights on the dash allowing me to concentrate on the outside with no distractions."
Anonymous, NH (2014 Subaru Forester)"The steering is really agile for an SUV, and the acceleration is quick. After driving a Volvo S40 that was great and handling and acceleration, I was surprised that the Forester was comparable."
Gary M., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good acceleration CVT sometimes jerky handling is just ok"
Robert K., PA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handles well for an inexpensive SUV Do not like inability to control gear selection in CVT Good cargo capacity Inability to read speedometer during daytime is annoying/dangerous Air conditioner rather weak"
Anonymous, OR (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling is middle of the road, but power is low for the vehicle. With 6 speed manual, need to downshift to 5th or 4th for even moderate hills."
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Quick and nimble. Great acceleration for 4-cylinder engine."

Steven C., WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"I have the turbo-charged XT model and it has the best acceleration, hands down, of any compact or mid-size SUV available. The 4wd system with Subaru's Dynamic Traction Control gives the best handling under adverse conditions of any 4wd on the market. I have driven over a million miles and have driven over 10 different 4wd vehicles. None come close to Subaru for handling."
Dean W., GA (2014 Subaru Forester)"My Forester is really good at acceleration and responds quickly to lane changes. It's size makes it very easy to negotiate small tight situations."
Janet P., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling is excellent"
Anonymous, AZ (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Forester has a very responsive steering system and surprising acceleration for a 4 cylinder engine."
Anonymous, IL (2014 Subaru Forester)"Love the visibility!!! Acceleration is just ok. ItĆ¢ā¬ā¢s way too noisy.....rattles"
Martin N., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Responds briskly, handles smoothly all types of roads."
Anonymous, OR (2014 Subaru Forester)"Accelerates very well but almost too well when on slower streets Handles well in maneuvering through traffic"

Michael B., MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration could be better especially upon initial portion of trip"
Anonymous, VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It has good pickup and does well on long drives"
George D., VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"There is NO better car in winter, esp. in the snow. I'm a ski patroller and we must be first up the Mountains Many other patrollers also drive Subarus (now) With 'I sight" the safety will be even better!"
F S., BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"The turbo takes the mountains like a hot knife through butter."
Pat M., CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"Nice handling of snow and ice. Enough power for normal drive and highway driving. Good turn radius."
Leonid M., MA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handling is very predictable, and, while it's no hot rod, it accelerates well when passing on two lanes, and has no trouble maintaining 80+ MPH speeds on interstates."
Philip H., ND (2014 Subaru Forester)"It really is as good in snow as advertised. In heavy, wet, west-coast snow, it ploughs right through it, even with the standard (i.e., not winter) tires."
Duncan D., BC (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration when already at highway speed is not responsive enough (for accident avoidance). There is a lag."
Anonymous, ON (2014 Subaru Forester)"handles well - great acceleration - fund to drive"
R P., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"secure handling in bad weather"
Ysela L., FL (2014 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration is just adequate, especially with the air conditioner running. Handling is good, sportier than I expected."
Robert E., MA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Inadequate power for the car"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Performs well in all driving conditions."
Anonymous, OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"It handles very good, acceleration is not good due to the 4 cylinder engine"
Jack F., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"It operates as I expect, and is very reliable."
Kathy-Fred G., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Great ride"
John M., CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"excellent."
D A., OH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent. Both my wife and I feel very comfortable driving this vehicle between 100 and 120km/hr, acceleration is great and keeps us out of trouble when passing, braking is symmetrical at speed. On gravel roads, the AWD gets us out of trouble on heavily gravelled sharpe turns (if we remember to accelerate rather than brake.) Great handling vehicle."
Anonymous, NS (2014 Subaru Forester)"Tight steering and responsive handling make this an enjoyable daily driver"
Anonymous, UT (2014 Subaru Forester)"I'm glad I got a Forester before they ruined the CVT by adding fake shifting. I blame CR for that -- those reviews complaining about "engine drone" probably influenced Subaru to ruin the transmission."
Anonymous, CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"Peak torque arrives late, about 3000 RPM, which is not good. The handling, for a boxy, high center of gravity SUV, it pretty good."
Anonymous, NH (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration feels like it's logarithmic - 800-2000 rpm in the first 0.25" of pedal depression which has caused me to lurch forward rather than move forward paced. Dangerous."
Raymon B., KY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Handles well in corners; the cvt is jerky when accelerating on an incline."
Anonymous, NS (2014 Subaru Forester)"good acceleration and responsive, reliable handling"
J D., MN (2014 Subaru Forester)"a little pokey but once in motion just fine"
Anonymous, CA (2014 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration is excellent for passing . The handling is firm. The ride was greatly improved when the factory equipped tires(toyo) were replaced with Michelin."
Vincent G., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"Meets my every need!"
R P., VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Good mpg, size is good which translates to nimble driving and good turning radiuses"
Anonymous, IL (2014 Subaru Forester)"I especially appreciate the extra ground clearance and all wheel drive when driving on more rugged roads when I go hiking."
Anonymous, NM (2014 Subaru Forester)"It is very responsive around town, but if you need to pass someone on a two lane highway you better pack a lunch, because itĆ¢ā¬ā¢s going to take a while."
John S., KS (2014 Subaru Forester)"I have no problems with anything regarding the handling or the acceleration all very good."
Robert C., WI (2014 Subaru Forester)"For an SUV this handels really well"
Anonymous, MA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration from a stop is great."

Anonymous, VA (2014 Subaru Forester)"Ease of turning ratio. Excellent handling and traction in winter weather."
Millie J., MI (2014 Subaru Forester)"Fun to drive, good acceleration and handling, mileage is good if I stay off the accelerator and don't use the cruise control (our area is hilly)."
Anonymous, TN (2014 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration and handling. I really enjoy driving this car!"
Robert Z., CO (2014 Subaru Forester)"I have the 2.5 liter non-turbo Touring model. My Forester is much more powerful than my previous car, which was a Honda Fit. But, what really impresses me about the Forester is its symmetrical all-wheel drive, X-Mode, and its Eye-Sight system is the confidence I have when venturing onto back-country roads, well away from the main highway. It has never let me down."

It applied the brakes before my wife could move her foot off the accelerator. Other than that, the adaptive cruise control has dramatically reduced the stress and fatigue on long trips and in heavy traffic. Handling is the best I've seen in a crossover or SUV. I love going off-road and flying around corners and letting the traction control eng"
ROBERT H., UT (2014 Subaru Forester)"The Forester handles quite well in day to day driving conditions, however the CVT transmission performs poorly on the highway. The lack of a lock-up torque converter sends the RPMs of the engine sky high with any headwind or the slightest incline. This will impact the otherwise good fuel economy of around 27 MPG to go down into the low 20s or worse. A rework of the trany is indicated!"

I like the CVT in the Forester and I think its very smooth and provides power when I need it. The car handles excellently for what is actually a fairly tall vehicle. Road noise could be better. I don't think its an engine noise problem, but general road noise."

I did buy snow tires for around $1,000 and that solved the problem, but I have driven AWDs and 4WDs for over 30 years and have never had to purchase snow tires before. ADAM K., NY (2014 Subaru Forester)"This small SUV handles as well as my former Legacy wagon which was smaller and lower to the ground. I have driven my husband''s 1998 Forester and found it a little top-heavy. I expected the same from this one, but perhaps due to its wider stance it takes curvy roads much like a smaller car.
