What Owners Say
"I gave never had a vehicle that handles this good. I love the way it handles and the acceleration is great."
Anonymous, IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Got the Kardon Harmon system option and the sound is fantastic!"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Forester - fully loaded with three adults, two very fat cats & luggage for all - climbs WNC mountain roads like a mountain goat! Unlike 4 cyn Honda Accord which struggles under same circumstance - Handling is firm and secure."
Alice W., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Drives extremely well; very good acceleration; Eyesight system is a must-have."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Excellent in snow, icy roads, rain. CVT transmission better than any automatic transmission I've used before. Handling is sure and precise. Acelleration is good."
Anonymous, NH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good power, agility, quiet, great sight lines"
Anonymous, KS (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration OK. Driving with eyesight on (lane departure) on the highway can be a little bit of a battle. The detection system pushes the steering away from the lane striping and at higher speeds presents a moderate control issue."
Anonymous, AZ (2018 Subaru Forester)"The safest most secure car I've ever driven. I am a skier so I drive in bad weather...snow, sleet, rain and the Forester never makes me feel unsafe"
Robin B., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Has good road feel - responsiveness to steering is well controlled. Good acceleration when needed. Comfortable ride - a great car for long driving trips"
Clyde P., AZ (2018 Subaru Forester)"Just got it but acceleration and handling are good"
Anonymous, IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"it has unexpected good acceleration. being all wheel drive it handles considerably well."
J S., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handling, acceleration, and control. The additional horse power/torque makes it much more enjoyable to drive."

Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is very good for a 4 cylinder."
Peter C., HI (2018 Subaru Forester)"I recently teamed with another driver in her 2018 Subaru Forester Premium trim on a road trip from Phoenix to Longview, WA. We toured 4 major national parks in Arizona. The car handled all the roads superbly and got an impressive 32.7 mpg over the entire 2500 mile journey."
Anonymous, WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very comfortable and easy driving. Step on the pedal and go. Slow down on the pedal and it slows down. The driver wheel turns easily."
Anonymous, SC (2018 Subaru Forester)"It is my wife’s new car and she is enamored with every feature in the car. She is a walking billboard for her Forester."
Anonymous, DC (2018 Subaru Forester)"I love the acceleration and handling on my Forester! Quick pickup, easy to handle, and the safety features that keep me in my lane, and keep me appropriately distanced from other cars while using cruise control are especially pleasing."
Phyllis S., IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Seats are hard and ride is rough. Everything is great except that the roads and streets I use are in bad shape and one can feel every little bump on the road."
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Lively acceleration. Great handling. Smooth ride. Not so good -- slight pause when pressing gas pedal. Visibility great."
D L., MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"I prefer a manual transmission. That’s why I traded up from the 2012 to the 2018. Subaru is discontinuing the manual. The “feel‿ of the new shifter is much better."
Anonymous, ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great acceleration when I need it because of 250 hp turbo. Test drive of Honda CR-V disappointing by comparison. I bought the 2018 Forester, rather than waiting for the 2019 redesigned model because turbo will no longer be available."
Harry S., MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"The 2.5L engine has plenty of power, the suspension is good and the handling is great."
Scott S., NE (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car must be driven with both hands. It is easy to jerk the wheels with one hand. During acceleration the gas pedal feels sticky."
Larry J., TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good acceleration and good driving. Low road noise."
Anonymous, MN (2018 Subaru Forester)"This is my first all wheel drive vechile. You absolutely feel secure on the road in all driving conditions."
Anonymous, AL (2018 Subaru Forester)"so far, the car handles well and drives easily. Safety features enhance driving."
Luella K., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is good handling is good. I don’t like tha CVT Transmission shifting"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration when you need it and solid handling"
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"when you need to accelerate fast it has the power to do so. when you need to brake fast it does it without skidding, with great control"
Deborah F., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"has all the acceleration i need for fast merges, uphill. so smooth, handles a dream very responsive and sticks tight to the road. love the blind spot monitoring, lane assistance, backup camera, emergency breaking. I am 64 with a stiff neck and partially deaf so all these electronics are a real help to feeling more secure on the road. Make me love the car MUCH more than any I have ever bought."
Frank M., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is adequate for freeway entry. Higher engine revs when accelerating than my 2014 Forester."
William M., NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"The lane change and stopping control system. Its on all the time at my desire but comes active at the wrong time sometimes, such as two lane driving on local roads. During a rain storm it was not operational."
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"It has all the power I need for urgent acceleration but still has good mileage. there is a wonderful low gear for snowy situations.."
Richard S., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Adaptive cruise control is a great innovation, makes driving much safer. Lane departure sensing not as good as I'd hoped because its ability to identity lane striping is not good."
Anonymous, TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Safety, acceleration, lane warning, speed control with car length auto adjustment, sunroof"
Dan E., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration OK. Handling great."
Albert S., NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good power...but the accelerator is too sensitive and requires too little foot effort. Unwanted rapid acceleration can occur."
Anonymous, OR (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is amazing. The vehicle feels like it wants to run full out every time you touch the accelerator - and this is a very good thing!"
Anonymous, LA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It's a good value and it performs well. Most all features operate OK."
Anonymous, MO (2018 Subaru Forester)"for a 4 cylinder SUV, acceleration is better than expected. For an SUV, handling is also better than expected."
Richard M., ID (2018 Subaru Forester)"Electric power steering is responsive and cvt keeps power output up in unobtrusive, small (down)shifting increments when negotiating positive grades."
Anonymous, CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Love the cruise that slows vehicle down and reminds you when over the line."
Pat W., TN (2018 Subaru Forester)"On our trip to our daughters' college orientation, over 4 hours away we were driving on divided highways for almost all of the trip. The car was loaded with three of us plus two Labrador retrievers. The car handled the hills and mountains we drove through and over, in rain and in the sunlight, and was a pleasure to drive. Driving this car is a pleasure."
Geoffrey H., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Lurching and jerking transmission problems when accelerating in 5 - 25 mph range not solved. Dealer tells me that it is common for CVT transmissions but other cars that I have driven that have CVT do not have that problem. Am taking issue directly to Subaru headquarters for resolution."
Larry T., IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"The found acceleration and handling to be respectable which says a lot because my regular car is a BMW 530i. The driver visibility is better than others in its class"
James B., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Quick response on acceleration, power at passing speeds"
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration; especially happy with the notifications re lane controls, back up cameras etc."
William W., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The CVT is so smooth and seamless compared to other CVT's I've driven. Acceleration feels peppier than I expected. The handling is excellent with the full time AWD. It is nimble and planted."
Terry C., MB (2018 Subaru Forester)"Four wheel drive has a tendency to plough straight ahead rather than follow the road.............but I assume that's charactoristic of four wheel drive."
Norbert M., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration and handling are a delight. Slight lag at first accelerating, but then really takes off. Maneuvering is very good."
Patrick B., VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Awesome"
Anonymous, TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"We bought this vehicle last week. The full time all wheel drive was the deciding factor in making this purchase."
Anonymous, AB (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration with the 2.0l turbo is excellent!"
Anonymous, IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"part of driving is safety. The insight system provides very valuable info about warnings , lane maintenance, etc"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Really like performance and acceleration, and impressive mpg. Alsothesafety featureswith lane departure, adaptive cruise control, and blind side monitor."
Anonymous, NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Seems a bit sluggish. Great handling. Planted."
Darby G., MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"The safety features - eyesight, backup camera"
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"The safety system that maintains selected car-length behind car ahead while using cruise control is fantastic."
Pauline S., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"CRISP CLEAN HANDLING, DOING 80 MPH FEELS LIKE I AM SAILING ALONG."
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Best handling in snow and ice that I've had"
Bradley L., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"More than adequate for the driving I do."
E C., MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"The assisted driving feature on the XT is an incredible safety feature that significantly adds to enjoyment of driving."
John G., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very quick, powerful acceleration. Excellent AWD handling."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Worst vehicle I have ever owned. When accelerating from a stop the car jumps and surges and it feels like driving over mini speed bumps. Have had it back to the dealer 2 times and it is going back again in 3 days for the same problem. They don't know what is wrong just keep resetting the computer."
Richard A., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is touchy and takes some time getting used to. Quick pick up though. Handling is very responsive."
Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"The lack of frontal parking assist is just a stupid omission on a car designed for safety and marketed as ideal for senior drivers. The rear sensors and camera are fine, but unlike the Rav4, there is nothing covering the forward view. This is enough of an issue to prevent us from renewing the lease or purchasing a Subaru in the future."
D S., CT (2018 Subaru Forester)"The electronics are much improved on the 2018 (a major factor in moving me to buy the 2018 and trading in the 2014.) The Forrester has always been the best in the snow, the safety systems should make this even better."
F S., BC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Better acceleration. Only appreciated the acceleration after driving rentals on vacation."
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"acceleration and handing are good"
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"I had the 2015 Forester Premium and this new car feels bulkier and steering wheel is a little stiff. Possibly still needs a break-in period though."
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"Sluggish acceleration. Engine seems to misfire/hesitate. Holds road well. Ride is jittery."
Edmund M., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"There is a definite pause using the CVT when you shift into drive from any other gear. In fact you can actually roll backwards on a hill until it fully engages. Subaru says it is normal; but I really don't like this and I consider it dangerous."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very peppy and fun to drive."
Anonymous, GA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great road view, good acceleration and handling in curves, some of the CVT lag in accelerating is gone."
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"It is very responsive. It moves when you need it to snd stops when you need it to. It feels steady on all roads."
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is adequate and always have the feeling of being in control."
R A., TN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good road feel and handling. Solid. More than adequate power with standard engine."
Tom M., WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Powerful engine helps when towing my fishing boat."
Ken J., KY (2018 Subaru Forester)"CVT transmission is amazing, fuel sipping on the highway and yet very good acceleration when needed."
David N., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"excellent drive train, i.e., engine, transmission, all-wheel drive system, good fuel economy given the size of the vehicle"
Anonymous, ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very easy to use speed control. Very responsive"
Anonymous, MT (2018 Subaru Forester)"smooth on the highway"
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"We purchased the XT Turbo because we travel to the Rocky Mountains for vacations. The XT handles the mountain passes with ease. Highly recommend the turbo!"
Don S., NE (2018 Subaru Forester)"First time owning or driving vehicle with CVT transmission. Hesitation when starting out. Sometimes uneven acceleration also. Handling is great although we have NOT driven in snow yet. Brakes seem to be softer and more effort to stop quickly. Much different than our previous CIVIC. AWD and CVT we have never had before. Takes some time getting used to."
Anonymous, NE (2018 Subaru Forester)"Electronic monitor turning control disconcerting."
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The acceleration is jerky, not smooth. It still has good acceleration, but it will take getting us to."
Terry H., MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Subaru's Boxer engine is well know and well respected. But the CVT that Subaru put into the Forester returns a poor driving experience. I expect that the CVT will be reliable. While driving, the CVT returns twitchy acceleration and noticeable bands of torque. It noticeably detracts from the driving experience."
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is quick and jumpy. Handling is decent but more like a bigger car/small truck."
Anonymous, NM (2018 Subaru Forester)"Sometimes there is a pause before it accelerates especially when just starting out"
Anonymous, BC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handles well, but the acceleration has grown a little bouncy or stuttered over the past few months."
Matthew M., HI (2018 Subaru Forester)"It has excellent acceleration. I can confidently pass other vehicles on 2-lane roads."
Kevin C., KS (2018 Subaru Forester)"For a 4cyclinder the pick up is outstanding and the handling of the SUV is also excellent very firm and stable."
Rick H., MO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Has plenty of power for accelerating except when using the air conditioner. The transmission is jerky when going uphill both in cruise control or using gas pedal. Dealer applied a software fix from Subaru but it only reduced the jerking and did not eliminate it."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"We wanted a mountain car and this fits the bill: good clearance for dirt/rocky roads, great acceleration up steep mountain highways, surefooted in deep snow and on ice, responsive handling, and it's fun to drive."
Anonymous, OK (2018 Subaru Forester)"The 4 cylinder turbo is excellent. I drive in Atlanta and this handles great - even in bad weather."
Anonymous, GA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Often great acceleration. Sometimes not so good. Handling is just okay all the time."
Sidney G., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"it is awesome in rainy weather"
Susan M., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Does everything I needed to."
Anonymous, AL (2018 Subaru Forester)"I love the easy handling. Wish it had more pick-up on the mountain, though."
Lou C., VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"very peppy from a standing stop and has better than expected highway mileage if cruise control is used, so as to avoid too rapid acceleration"
Anonymous, NS (2018 Subaru Forester)"I have the 2.0 turbocharged 4. Acceleration superb 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds handling sure"
Leslie B., VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Car sticks to the road incredible well...live in Pittsburgh and this car handles the hills fantastically"
James C., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Just what I expected. No complaints."
Anonymous, TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"I bought the 'Touring XT' for the power and quality. My Forester is a wonder to drive. It has power, comfort and 'EyeSight' is great for Interstate Highway drives."
Douglas S., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The accelerator is very touchy, but I have gotten used to controlling it. Pickup is more than satisfactory. Handling is excellent."
M R., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Having the turbo boost comes in handy - especially when overtaking. Given its size and weight, the Forester handles acceleration and cornering surprisingly well."
Christopher W., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Accelerates well, and the safety features ( out of lane beep & automatic braking when too close to cars) also the cruise control adjusts automatically to cars when they slow down."
Judy R., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Tends to have more understeering than i am used to. The accelerator is very touchy. You step on the accelerator and the car lurches forward."
Anonymous, HI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Drives smoothly, handles well. I have only had it a month so haven't had too much experience yet, but much more of a pleasure to drive than my 2010 Civic. My prior car was a hybrid and had no acceleration and slowed down with the AC on going up hill. I am not experiencing that with this car but of course gas mileage is half. Since I am not now driving that many miles I felt I no longer needed a hybrid."
Carole U., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Safety features like lane navigation and cruise control anticipation of vehicle ahead"
Denise C., AZ (2018 Subaru Forester)"new safety features, rear automatic warning and breaking, adaptive cruise control, lane system departure work well"
David P., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It handles curves without the body roll feel. I can accelerate instead of braking."
Anonymous, MI (2018 Subaru Forester)"The vehicle acceleration is adequate, but not noteworthy. Vehicle handling feels very secure in rain and wet conditions. Braking feels firm and under control."
Jerry K., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handling is excellent. Feels more like driving a car than an SUV type vehicle. Feels like I'm in full control at all times. The turbo has excellent and rapid acceleration when needed. Great to drive."
James B., TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Initially I was put off by the Eyesight. Specifically the lane departure alerts. However I accepted the Eyesight option to get another I wanted. and I learned to turn off the lane departure alerts. I find the blindspot warnings and rear-backing warnings ARE helpful. With all the gadgetry on it they could have included Nissan's Gridlock option. THat looks useful."
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"For a 4 cyl the Forester has very good exceleration and handles great."
Charles K., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"The all wheel drive is a true all wheel drive with power applied to all four wheels rather than opposite corners. Snow and ice are absolutely no problem."
Wallace M., OR (2018 Subaru Forester)"The Eyesight system is fantastic. I really appreciate the adaptive cruise control when we take long trips across the country. The Forester handles very well, and easily makes tight turns, very responsive."
Jeffrey H., WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handles well. Acceleration adequate for me."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Terrific handling and reverse video, good turning radius"
Anonymous, MN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Most small SUVs have evolved more towards automobiles than larger SUVs. They seem more more adapted to commuting to and from work, or heading home from the grocery store on a bad weather day than carrying a fishing rod or shotgun down a gravel road. The steering, handling, suspension, etc. on the Forester remain more like a true SUV than a passenger vehicle. In other words, the Forester seems more at home on a quick hunting or fishing (recreational) trip than other competitive small SUVs."
Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very good drive Very secure"
Anonymous, WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"I preferred the driving of the old 2007 Forester as it was more natural and peppier while the 2018 seems to have more control than I do because of the Eyesight."
Robert B., ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration. Very good handling"
Lee S., WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration stumbles a bit at first start in morning, runs great thereafter."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"terrific acceleration, easy handling, safety systems are fantastic (e.g., telling when out of lane, when obstructions are in front or advancing on either side ), great car for beltway driving and local traffic (e.g. signal that car in front has moved). Appreciate thoughtful design."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The intelligent cruise control is wonderful in traffic where speed changes are constant, in that I don't have to constantly hit the brake to slow down for traffic. I feel safer and more confident in my safety."
Allan R., CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Driving the XT is a dream. 0 to 60 goes by in a flash, especially when utilizing the two sport modes that Subaru offers. Flipping the "S#" makes the XT fire off like a rocket in a way that never fails to put a smile on my face. Even from a practicality standpoint, the normal "S" sport mode makes the car come to life. Merging on the highway or accelerating to make a safe lane transition is effortless. In terms of handling, I have noticed some body lean when taking sharp turns. I've learned to plant my left foot to stabilize myself in those situations, so my body stays firmly in place. Steering is responsive, and I always feel as though my movement with the wheel accurately translates to my movement on the road."
Patrick B., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"We really like the Eyesight Safety Features. I think it has saved us from having an accident that would have been our fault"
James C., TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Backing up is very easy because of large back window. Acceleration is a little slow."
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"It accelerates well; it feels solid; it turns well; it is quiet!"
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"I live in a very rural area and travel frequently to cities. This car handles well on two lane dirt roads in poor condition or during mud, snow, and ice as well as on interstate highways."
Anonymous, NM (2018 Subaru Forester)"styling ,interior style, spacious windows,"
Anonymous, MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"I think the acceleration is ok and the HWY MPG is great at 33mpg. most of my driving is around town and averages 22mpg. Textured roads make for a noisy ride, but the drive train makes very little noise. The car is easy to park and has lots of room. The stick shift works well. I like the reverse detent feature. I think the steering is to quick: I let my daughter drive it and when she went to make a right turn, she almost turned into the right curb. It's a little 'twitchy' at hwy speeds."
Ron S., OR (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is slow and sluggish. When braking for a stop the engine will resit the braking at certain speeds"
Robert C., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"A hesitation when acceration is only thing I do not like. Everything else is fantastic, seat comfort, all around view, Driving experience, handling and plenty of room,in back seat"
Roy F., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"This is an XT version. It is quick, agile, goes where you want yet always seems effortless without any fuss. I've never come close to pushing the limits. A very balanced and composed vehicle the creates confidence."
Daniel K., NE (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great handling feels like it sticks to the road! And has a nice firm but forgiving firm ride over bumps."
Gregg P., OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Surprisingly good acceleration for a mini-van. Handling is not great, but it is a mini-van after all."
Chuck K., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The car is very responsive to all of my demands."
Gayle L., OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car has the best steering I've ever seen. This car turns on a dime."
Scott W., IA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good Handling. Bad The steering wheel locks and (3) times I could not start the auto until I pulled hard left on the steering wheel. It took from 10 min to 30 mins to start the auto."
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Steering lacks responsiveness on tight corners, especially going down hill at 70 miles per hour. Planning on getting rid of the car because of it."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"safety features are excellent; handles nicely"
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Visibility is excellent."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is good and as expected for this price range, engine size, and body style. Turning radius is acceptable and that makes parking not a chore. Handling is good to excellent and that goes for all weather conditions."
Anonymous, CT (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handling is very good for its size. Acceleration is no more than OK, sometimes stutters a bit when starting from a full stop. Once it gets going, acceleration is fine."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"GREAT drive...feel very safe in the car"
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Eyesight safety and cruise control features are most welcome."
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"Throttle pedal is sluggish to respond. Software programming does let engine rev down quickly, so shifting gears with manual transmission the engine tends to race when clutch is pressed"
Anonymous, CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very smooth acceleration and good feel of the road"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"There is a delay in the switch from Reverse-Drive (and vice versa). The dealer said this was due to the "mechanical" method of changing from reverse to drive. When parallel parking, this delay makes it more difficult to quickly perform the task (a daily necessity for those of us who do not have driveways/garages). We might not have purchased the car due to this issue."
Anonymous, MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"great engine 2.0x"
Bruce-Erin W., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car is like a swiss army knife {does everything} : It is fast, economical, comfortable, good room for a compact SUV and AWD to boot. My only concern is the driver assists, they work in the summer but I feel they will be useless in the snow covered roads of winter. The automatic braking may even slide me off the road."
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The safety features are great, like getting out of lane alarm, etc."
Anonymous, MT (2018 Subaru Forester)"I love the quick and powerful acieration that the turbo engine provides"
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"I greatly enjoy the cruise control system in my Subaru. Most of my driving is on country highways and freeways. I can set the controls and follow other vehicles at a distance I set and my car will speed up or slow down or stop as the vehicle in front of does."
Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Engine is a bit loud when accelerating but responsive. Handling is more nimble than I thought it would be."
Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handles well, but I find the "touchy" and non-linear response of the accelerator at low speed a nuance and occasionally unsafe as "jumps" forward. After gain speed, acceleration is fine."
Anonymous, TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration. Great turning radius. Very smooth AWD."
Anonymous, AK (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good visibility / acceleratiom."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Wonderful acceleration and handling."
Frank S., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Base 2.5 l engine hits the right balance between performance/economy. CVT with 6 sets and paddle shift is great on steep and twisty mountain roads."
Rita F., BC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Turbo makes it very responsive and fun to drive"
Philips M., VT (2018 Subaru Forester)"Turbo provides amazing acceleration, and the words that best describe handling are 'crisp' and 'nimble'; a truly excellent car to drive."
A P., AB (2018 Subaru Forester)"The Subaru drives well, although it seems the acceleration is slightly slow."
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"It balks when accelerating from a dead stop."
Julie A., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Bad: CVT slippage at low speeds, <35mph, when the system is cold. It feels as if the engine has a slight miss under mild acceleration, but this well-known phenomenon is attributed to CVT slippage by Subaru. Supposedly, it is harmless, but it certainly detracts from an otherwise excellent driving experience. I did not experience this with Nissan CVT's ten years ago. Toyota is using a hybrid CVT in their Corolla Sport, 1st gear is a conventional automatic gear, probably to avoid this same situation."
Donald C., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Still good acceleration, comfortable and handles well."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great acceleration; handling crisp."
P L., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Overall we're very happy with the acceleration, and the handling is great, especially with the features like lane-keeping assist. Our first year has been a really good experience."
Robert B., OR (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very nimble and fund to drive. Responsiveness is excellent"
Steve H., UT (2018 Subaru Forester)"The CVT transmission is great for MPG but for shifting, it is horrible, takes way too long from R to D or D to R, price one has to pay for better gas mileage."
Steve H., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"Turbo Bad is High octane"
Luc B., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Quick acceleration & firm handling."
Stan F., NH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great acceleration. Doesn’t bog down when going up hills, especially in mountain driving. Love the smooth transmission. No down shifting."
Anonymous, WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Touch gas pedal for acceleration."
Anonymous, WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Smooth acceleration when passing or at a full stop."
Anonymous, WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"The other day, during a torrential downpour, the Eyesight safety system shut down. I was terrified that I'd touched something and broken it. However, after I'd gone a little farther and the rain slacked off, the system started up. After I called the dealership, the manager explained that the cameras had been overwhelmed by the heavy rain. He told me that he's had his system stop when the early morning sun hits the cameras the wrong way. I had not seen anything in the manual that warns the customer about this scary happening."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The CVT is not as smooth as I would like but it's ok."
Anonymous, OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration with the turbo is outstanding for this type of vehicle. Handling is not great, but better than expected for the vehicle type. Better side bolsters on the seats would allow the driver more opportunity for enjoying the handling."
Anonymous, OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"I like the power steering feel and the occasional nudges it gives to steering. I have the 2 L turbo and like the acceleration when entering a freeway."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great value"
Michele J., MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"To my surprise, I like Subaru's version of a CVT transmission. It emulates a regular automatic with its preset ratios. I like the feeling of an engine rev'ing up through each gear, and the Subaru does that. It is nimble and handles quite well. In terms of acceleration, it is quick off the mark. But I do wish for more top-end power."
B H., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"stalled 3 times in 30 minuets in city traffic going app. 30 mph within the first 3 weeks of ownership. dealer found no cause. would not move from stop once after owning 5 months. service very expensive and occasionally has major service jobs that are mandatory. some costing nearly $500."
William F., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car is very “peppy‿, quick to respond to steering."
R K., MI (2018 Subaru Forester)"I have driven several different ones over a long period and this SUV has better acceleration and much better handling than the competition."
Anonymous, TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"Is a bit sluggish when accelerating. But feels very sure footed on wet roads."
Ann W., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"ACCELERATION HARD TO CONTROL AT START UP."
Ronald K., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Peppy, handles well."
Anonymous, NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"I find it irritating that it takes a moment for the transmission to engage when I move the selector - it's not instant."
Nigel T., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handling is great, cornering is perfect. Acceleration could be a little better: initial acceleration has noticeable hesitation."
Anonymous, CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"It is quiet, accelerates well. I occasionally get annoyed with the warning systems, especially the 'lane departure'. I live in an area with many curves in the roads, and lanes are not well marked, but the system still warns me."
Jay S., OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"window indicator of near by cars"
Susan H., DC (2018 Subaru Forester)"We got caught in a snow/ice storm last winter while on vacation. The Subaru's all wheel drive system was impressive, kicking in whenever we started to lose traction on curves and hills. We were very pleased (and relieved)."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The asymmetrical all wheel drive makes it handle very well, holds the road well, corners very well."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Great acceleration and easy handling"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very happy with the turbo power and new transmission."
Anonymous, SC (2018 Subaru Forester)"It's very good."

Michael K., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It has adequate power on highways and handles well."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It's an SUV, but handling in the 2018 Chevy Equinox was superior. The Forester gets great mileage, but acceleration is weak."
Anonymous, ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"Eyesight technology, eight position drivers seat comfort, visibility, acceleration at critical speeds."
Bill P., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"My only complaint is the pause between shifting into drive and the beginning of acceleration. I am not familiar with this in other cars I have driven with automatic transmission."
Larry O., DC (2018 Subaru Forester)"great acceleration with a 4 cylinder engine. Handles great with 4 wheel drive."
Anonymous, MO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very good acceleration and handling"
Anonymous, PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Accelerates easily, robust handling for its size and bulk"
David S., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Good: clear visions all around, good holding / handling and acceleration; rear view camera, eye-sight features, dual temp control, spacious & well designed cargo compartment. Bad: many knobs and switches are hard to memorise how they function, how to use, manual explanations not easy to follow; center panel storages poorly designed comparing with Honda or other brands; there should be option to hide/unhide screen apps e.g. starlink, pandora. etc; when not using them."
Francis W., ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car is so easy to drive. Seems to stick to the road."
Anonymous, NM (2018 Subaru Forester)"Turbocharger provides excellent acceleration."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"nice looking car and drives well"
Jan R., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"acceleration is excellent, but steering is too vague and too much hand motion is required to go straight. turning and curves are well handled."
Mark F., ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"We had heard the 2.5 normally aspirated engine was sluggish and that we would want for more power. We also had heard that the engine noise would be excessive going up hills or with merging with traffic etc. We've been much happier than we had expected to be in these 2 areas. As part of our regular driving routine, we have to navigate a very steep hill and then up an down many other hills on daily basis (not including regular trips to San Francisco and it's famous hills). It handles these with ease and gives a feeling of confidence. We do hear the engine but with this vehicles very quiet interior, it is not annoying at all. With respect to daily driving on freeways, the Forrester accelerates to freeway speeds and confidently moves with even the fastest of traffic. If I was to rate the engine performance on just off the line or passing cars with breakneck speed, this would be less than stellar, but more than adequate. We continue to be pleasantly surprised at how much this has not been an issue. We've already had our car on a trek to Lake Tahoe and it was silky, sure footed, and relaxing to drive."
David P., CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is ok but I am used to a turbo 4 cylinder car so it seems a little slower but still good enough. Handling is very good with a very tight turning circle"
Thomas B., OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Smooth and fun."
Anonymous, VT (2018 Subaru Forester)"This car replaced a 2011 Forester which was badly hail damaged. The progress with the transmission is awesome. The old one was truly abhorrent, but this new one is very smooth and responsive in comparison."
Anonymous, CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration sometime hesitates before taking off."
John L., NV (2018 Subaru Forester)"The turbo is absolutely worth the money"
Alan S., TX (2018 Subaru Forester)"For an all wheel drive car it accelerates and handles very well. Sharp turning does not make a “scrubbing sound‿ as with other all wheel drives. Also gets excellent gas mileage."
David U., OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"It is very responsive and easy to handle."
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"Easy to handle, tight turning radius, good acceleration when in gear."
Anonymous, WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Plenty of pep in this car. All wheel drive feels very secure."

Jay B., VT (2018 Subaru Forester)"The “eye‿ system is incedible! Could use more power."
Louis L., NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"It rides quietly, accelerates quickly & handles well overall. I bought mine, as a friend bought a new Forester 22 months ago."
Joan O., CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is very good in this model. All wheel drive provides excellent control while driving in various weather conditions."
Elizabeth N., NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"tHE DEALER DIDN'T HAVE A VEHICLE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION, but I bought one anyway (thinking, how could Subaru have a poor manual. The car has dismal acceleration and the six speed forces much more frequent shifts than previous manuals I've owned."
Norman M., IA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Drives well and good acceleration"
Anonymous, BC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration & handling are good for this type of vehicle. The "Eyesight" system is excellent particularly the intelligent cruise control and lane holding."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It's responsive and has excellent acceleration when needed. It also handles beautifully in terrible winter weather."
Anonymous, ME (2018 Subaru Forester)"The car feels like a tank! High engine noise. Seems to work very hard while accelerating."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Feels secure on the road. Great turning radius and the speed control with automatic distance control is wonderful"
John B., AR (2018 Subaru Forester)"The car has great pick up when you are trying to get in the line of traffic."
Alice B., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It is very easy to increase speed , i.e. merging on to highway. Feel very secure with handling needs. The best feature in the Forester is the vision. The seat adjustment for the driver's seat is wonderful plus I have never experienced a blind spot. Have only had my car for 1 month but, so far, I couldn't be happier.."
Eugene M., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"The 4-cylinder 2.5i engine has really impressive acceleration. Maybe the continuously variable transmission has something to do with it. I recently rented a 2018 VW Passat on a trip, and it felt sluggish in comparison. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is the sensitivity of the brakes. This isn't really a bad thing, but I thought I would get better at moderating the brake pedal to control this, yet they still seem grabby."
Catherine, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"visibility"
Anonymous, FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Between more play in the steering than I am used to and the active steering assist of the Star-Link system, I feel the vehicle is trying to drive me as much as I am trying to drive it."
Donald N., WI (2018 Subaru Forester)"Accelerates well from stop and handles easily!"
Holly H., AR (2018 Subaru Forester)"transmission behaves oddly"
Anonymous, NJ (2018 Subaru Forester)"It's a bit of a rough ride on bumpy roads, which are everywhere now. Also the CVT transmission can take some getting used to. It accelerates well, but it feels different than a regular automatic."
Anonymous, WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"There is a definite and persistent hesitation when putting it in to Drive. I haven't contacted Subaru yet as live several hours from a dealer. My fault that I haven't looked up Recalls but also have not recieved a notice."
Anonymous, BC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very responsive, lots of power when I accelerate."
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The car handles beautifully. Acceleration is fine. However, when switching from backing up to driving forward the car lurched when I apply pressure to the gas peddle. I have talked to another Subaru owner and she reports the same orioblem"
Anonymous, IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"I love the variable transmission. smooth and no sensation while changing of gears."
Anonymous, NH (2018 Subaru Forester)"Performance of the 2.0 DIT boxer engine is fantastic. Handling is very solid and it’s an excellent driving experience."

Anonymous, VT (2018 Subaru Forester)"excellent"
Anonymous, QC (2018 Subaru Forester)"handles very well, but acceleration from slow speed when merging on freeway is slow"
Anonymous, MI (2018 Subaru Forester)"I recently went on my first trip to the mountains since getting the Forester. It handled beautifully over two high passes and exceeded my expectations in mountain performance."
Becki S., CO (2018 Subaru Forester)"Handles well and love the safety features"
Robin B., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Does not have the handling or acceleration of my previous sedan"
Anonymous, CA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The driver's view is excellent and acceleration is adequate. We are seniors and the eyesight braking system, blind spot detection, and lane stray notification are great safety features."
Anonymous, MD (2018 Subaru Forester)"Acceleration is outstanding, handling is solid and feels controlled."
Lisa L., QC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Relative to my previous car, a 1998 Subaru Forester, my 2018 Forester has better, though not stellar acceleration, given its four cylinder Boxer engine. Starting acceleration is good, but it thins out as speed increases. Because the 2018 model has a higher center of gravity than my old Forester, handling on corners, while still good, is diminished slightly in comparison. Road tracking (the car's tendency to stay centered in the lane at highway speeds without steering wheel correction) is currently a problem for my 2018 model. (It was never a problem with my 1998 Forester, which required very little steering correction at highway speeds on level roads; this made it a pleasure to drive.) The dealer has been negligent in dealing with this problem under warranty."
S G., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"XT model has a noticeable turbo lag from a standing start but great power once turbo winds up. There's no lag in power at highway speeds. Excellent handling on curvy roads. There's a little bit of over-steer at the initiation of a hard corner but it holds a line well once settled. Overall great handling for an AWD sport utility."
Anonymous, NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"The ride is much improver from the 2015 to the 2018 Forrester. Handling is smoother, and the acceleration is improved."
Jim D., ON (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very smooth and responsive acceleration. Lane assist feature is most helpful"
Kevin D., GA (2018 Subaru Forester)"ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL!!! Very Happy Feet! On a round trip from Boston to Wisconsin I went for over 250 miles without touching a pedal! SO old folks friendly!!! Lane minding is ok, but it depends on quality of lane markings which vary widely from state to state. The automation makes acceleration and handling smoother than I do on my own. My mind longs for the old MGB, but my body prefers the Forester."
Anonymous, MA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Excellent acceleration and handling, ease of entry and getting seated, and as I previously stated, the visibility is superior to all the other SUVs I test drove before deciding on the Forester."
Anonymous, VA (2018 Subaru Forester)"Transmission is smooth. Acceleration and handling very responsive."
Anonymous, AZ (2018 Subaru Forester)"Transmission is rough, pauses, and then lurches. Doesn’t shift down when it should Dealer says nothing is wrong, but hubby is very unhappy with it."
Anonymous, WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"handles great, smooth ride, feel very safe, depndable"
Jan T., FL (2018 Subaru Forester)"makes quite a bit of noise when it accellerates"
Barbara F., SC (2018 Subaru Forester)"Steering is "nudged" by the "eye-sight" system which can be annoying - especially when changing lanes on a high speed highway. The system restrains one's ability to change lanes quickly when necessary."
John S., PA (2018 Subaru Forester)"The lane departure system and the adaptive cruise control make handling much safer and better."
Bob M., MN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Delay in transmission engaging drive from park. Other than that it drives beautifully."
Jen D., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"safety features, active cruise, eyesight system"
Anonymous, NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"It has equipment that stops the "rollback" when stopping on a hill."
Cindi V., NE (2018 Subaru Forester)"CVT transmission is a gutless turd. A bore to drive. Can't lock in a low gear."
Anonymous, NC (2018 Subaru Forester)"The vehicle is very responsive. It has surprising agility and is ideal for city driving and easy parking."
James O., KS (2018 Subaru Forester)"The CVT transmission works extremely poorly in very cold weather (near zero). Other cars I could warm them up for 5 minutes and go. With this car the transmission doesn't shift right unless I warm it up for 20 to 30 minutes, and even then it shifts poorly for the first 30 minutes of driving."
Jeffrey S., IL (2018 Subaru Forester)"Crisp acceleration but touchy accelerator pedal at times. Handles well even when fully loaded and delivers excellent fuel economy. Controls are within easy reach. Really like how easy it is to get in and out of."
Anonymous, IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Very responsive acceleration and handling."
J D., NY (2018 Subaru Forester)"The handling is not as good as my Ford Mustang, but then I would not expect it to be. Performance-wise, it is adequate and I experience no hesitation driving the passes in southern Oregon. However, the CVT hesitates when first engaged from Neutral."
John R., WA (2018 Subaru Forester)"It has a very irritating hesitation when you shift the car into drive. It is true of all newer Subarus, including the Outback. I am not sure I would have bought the car if I had known this."
Kathleen F., CT (2018 Subaru Forester)"The car is only one week old. So far the outstanding performance of the safety systems is outstanding very complete and impressive in design and function."
Anonymous, OH (2018 Subaru Forester)"under gentle acceleration the CVT transmission is sometimes sort of jittery between 25-50mph."
Brandon L., IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Overall performance for the price"
Anonymous, NB (2018 Subaru Forester)"acceleration is just adequate Handling is good for a small SUV"
Anonymous, IN (2018 Subaru Forester)"Quick acceleration, handles crisply. Brakes are good. Love the Eyesight system"
Chester W., IN (2018 Subaru Forester)
"The CVT takes some getting used to. It shifts more like a standard automatic transmission as compared to Toyota Prius."
Blair C., NC (2018 Subaru Forester)
