I have to take my foot off the accelerator to allow the transmission to reduce to allow my speed to increase. Too much attention diverted when I have to watch for traffic and animals."

It takes too much pedal input to get the car to go then if you let up because of a turn or because the car in front isn't a jack rabbit then you have to let off the gas. The transmission then upshifts (lower cvt ratio) and then the car WILL NOT accelerate. I can be unsafe at times. When I complain at the dealership they just say "that is the way it is with a CVT. Well... my father in law has a 2005 Ford Freestyle with a similar transmission and it isn't this way."

"The problem lies in the inconsistent gas pedal. We've been told this is part of the "drive by wire" system. However, the gas pedal does not respond smoothly when starting or backing up. You learn to use a very light touch to avoid surging, but sometimes the vehicle won't move with that level of pressure and more pressure is needed, leading to moving more quickly than expected."
