Hyundai Tucson vs. Nissan Rogue Compact SUV Face-Off
These two popular models are highly competitive in their segment
Both the Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Rogue underwent significant redesigns within the past few years that transformed them from dowdy, middle-of-the-road compact SUVs into serious contenders in the class.
The Tucson, like the similar Kia Sportage (redesigned for 2023), was improved across the board and is now more competitive in the compact SUV class. Like a number of Hyundai’s other new vehicles, it’s available with a conventional gas engine as well as with a hybrid powertrain.
The redesigned Rogue arrived in 2021, a year before the Tucson, but Nissan gave it an all-new engine in 2022—a turbocharged three-cylinder mated to the existing continuously variable transmission (CVT). Like the Hyundai, Nissan’s redesign transformed the Rogue.
These two models are very popular with Consumer Reports members and are among the more frequently searched SUVs on CR.org.
