What Owners Say
"The best capable off road vehicle you can buy that still is fine on the highways."
Anonymous, CO (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"It has never accerlated very well. I have had the gas tank and fuel pump checked and the throttle body cleaned but nothing seems to help. Injector cleaner seems to help the best. I use it occassionally."
RUSSELL M., FL (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"It has great handling and easy to drive. It also accelerates very good."
Anonymous, SC (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"good pick up for a 16 yr old truck"
Anonymous, SC (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"It is hard to increase the speed."
Anonymous, FL (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Could use a bit more power but very satisfied with the way these trucks hold their value. This truck has 318k with the original clutch and still acts like it will go thousands of miles."
JAMES G., CO (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"It's extended cab not 4 dr. so it allows for 5 ft. bed which is more practical. Mechanically it was well maintained. I'm a Toyota man so I find the engine and trans are great shape so relatively speaking at 157000 miles it's low mileage."
Robert C., TX (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"With over 280k miles, it's still handling crazy off-roading with ease."
Anonymous, CO (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Longer wheel base gives a stable ride off road."
Anonymous, BC (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"The seats are too low and uncomfortable, the springs are Too weak, ant small load will spill over the road, one extra Leave will prevent this problem. This is not a model 2000, it is a 1999 model."
Elio F., GA (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"The turning radius is very poor."
Anonymous, FL (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Both are great."
Billl G., CA (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Acceleration and handling is not up to the standards of current vehicles. It has a small engine and acceleration is slow. Handling is kind of loose and sloppy."
Anonymous, MD (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Fair to middling with it’s 4 cyl engine"
Anonymous, UT (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"I purchased the extended cab truck and I believe it should have come with the larger 2.6 4 cyl. The 2.4 is a great engine but lacks power and doesn't get particularly good gas mileage. I think the engine is working harder than it should because of the size of the truck it's pulling."
James M., TN (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"This is a 1999, not a 2000, I stopped driving this truck at 53000 miles, and let others use it for all these years, this truck is indestructibly, even the original spare tire have never been used, as far as comfort is concerned, it is very uncomfortable to drive, But Toyota is too big to care about what car owners think about their products."
Elio F., GA (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"I travel mountain passes and sometimes have to remind myself to downshift. It's that responsive."
Keith W., CO (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Acceleration is not great, but it is about what one would expect in a small pickup.."
Anonymous, AZ (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Little underpowered"
Anonymous, CO (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"Acceleration and handling are both very good. When new, the steering was exceptionally responsive and is still very good. The same is true for acceleration"
Anonymous, OR (2000 Toyota Tacoma)"This is really a 1998 model but the survey did not allow me to go back that far. It is somewhat under powered and does not accelerate very rapidly. Not a real problem except when trying to pass and it detracts from the driving experience. But, then, I did not buy it to be a sports car."
Anonymous, MD (2000 Toyota Tacoma)
"The engine lost much power when the air-condition is on."
P B., OR (2000 Toyota Tacoma)
