The Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.cpsc.gov) and Sharp Electronics Corp. have announced a recall of about 9,000 Sharp 32-inch LCD TVs. The neck of the stand holding the screen can break causing the TV to tip over, posing a risk of injury to the consumer.

The recall involves model LC-32SB28UT with the serial number (printed on the back of the unit) in the range below:

They were manufactured from March through April of this year, and were sold by major retail stores nationwide.
If you own one of these recalled TV, the CPSC advises that you immediately contact Sharp (www.sharpusa.com or 800-291-4289) for a free replacement stand neck support.
We've reported previously about the perils of tipping TVs. Between 2000 and 2006, there were 87 fatalities reported in the U.S. related to televisions falling and 95 percent of those fatally injured were children less than 10 years of age.
