Re-activateAlthough it's rolling out later than originally thought, the Boxee Box settop box from D-Link can now stream instant movies from Netflix. The streaming service, which costs $8 per month if you're not already a Netflix unlimited subscriber, joins Vudu, which was launched on Boxee last month.
The news was reported on the Boxee blog. To enable Netflix streaming, you'll need to update the device's software (to version 1.0.4.17443). It should update automatically, but if it doesn't you can can manually check for the update by going to Settings>> System>> Update. According to the blog, Boxee gets the new Netflix user interface rather than the one you see when accessing the service from a computer.
We recently checked out several of the new set-top boxes, and concluded that the Boxee had an unfinished feel. But with the addition of both Netflix and Vudu, we'll have to revisit the Boxee platform and see how it compares to competitive streaming options such as Apple TV, the Logitech Revue, and the Roku XDS.
