Volvo is recalling 7,558 S60 vehicles from the 2012 model year because of a potential problem with the fuel pump which could lead to engine hesitation and stalling even if the fuel gauge indicated up to a quarter tank of gas. Under certain driving conditions this could lead to a crash.
The software for the fuel pump unit may not be compatible with all fuel pumps and components. This could result in an insufficient transfer of fuel in the pump unit. The recall affects cars made from November 18, 2010 through May 5 2011.
The safety recall is expected to start June 17. Volvo dealers will upgrade the engine control module software for free. For more information Volvo S60 owners can call 1-201-768-7300. Owners can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov.
When it comes to the Volvo's performance at our test track, the redesigned S60 saw big improvements to the ride and handling and has a variety of available safety features. In our latest tests, we declare the S60 perhaps the best Volvo vehicle we've seen yet.
