Sound byte: Samsung Galaxy Player WiFi media player overview

Consumer Reports News: March 16, 2012 04:38 PM

If you're looking for a portable digital media player to enjoy your music and movies on the go, your choices aren't limited to just an Apple iPod--or an even pricier devices such as a smart phone. One excellent alternative: The Samsung Galaxy Player WiFi.

For the weekly Sound byte segment, Senior Electronics Editor Mike Gikas discussed with Dave Graveline's Into Tomorrow cast and audience how the Samsung media player was a worthy competitor to the popular Apple iPod Touch.

Like that top-rated competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Player WiFi has an excellent touch screen that makes it easy to control and play digital movie and music files. Its Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities give the player access to digital content and apps (such as and navigation aids) much like a smart phone as long as there's a wireless Internet hotspot nearby. And unlike a smart phone, there's no monthly fee to using the Samsung player.

Click here to listen to the Sound byte podcast on the Samsung Galaxy Player WiFi and check out Consumer Reports' free buying guide to MP3 players for more information on how to choose the right digital media player for your needs.
