Once forbidden fruit for U.S.-living enthusiasts, the Subaru WRX is now in its third generation on these shores. Episode 46 of the “Talking Cars with Consumer Reports” video podcast discusses this latest turbocharged, all-wheel-drive wonder. While it certainly puts down the numbers on our test track, everyday livability leaves a lot to be desired. Clearly, it is debatable how much fun the WRX is when you’re not lapping a race course.

Sports cars were in the news last week with the introduction of a new Mazda MX-5 Miata. Details are sketchy, but the excitement of a new Miata isn’t lost on us.

Next we answer a few reader questions about how a test car could be possibly modified by changing its engine computer and why the Ford Transit Connect wasn’t housetrained.

Finally, we discuss the Ram 1500 diesel, now our top-rated pickup truck. Not only is the EcoDiesel’s 20 mpg overall impressive, but the Ram retains the refinement that makes this truck so pleasing.
