Printing The Epson EcoTank ET-1913 prints using inkjet technology, which sprays liquid ink onto the paper from a moving head. It has very good text quality, though not quite as good as the best printers. It's on the slow side for text, 5 pages took 36 seconds. Its color graphics printing is very good for reports, newsletters and web pages. It prints photos on glossy paper with below-par quality, putting it near the bottom rung among inkjet printers in photo quality. The capacity of the main paper tray is 100 sheets, a typical amount.
Scanning and Copying This is a single-function printer. It lacks a built-in scanner/copier.
Controls and Display The printer has no display screen.
Connectivity and Networking It can print documents via USB and WiFi.
Costs and Ink When this page was last updated, the printer's purchase price was about $160, low for a regular tank inkjet printer. This printer uses four tanks. When the ink runs low, you refill the tank. The ink is sold in bottles. The inks we used in testing were the Epson 522 BK, 522 C, 522 M, and 522 Y bottles—at the time, the prices were all $18 each.
