Sound quality: JBL's Xtreme 5 had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The bass has good impact and goes deep but is somewhat prominent and tubby. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat hazy and congested, a bit grainy and a touch nasal. Treble is fairly extended and is somewhat smeared and a bit sizzly. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience and is somewhat congested. The monophonic soundfield extends a bit above and to the sides of the speaker enclosure.
Volume:
Provides a decent volume level in a small to large size room.
