Adventure
Although not well-suited for serious trails and steep climbs, the Jetson Adventure is great on gravel roads and mild trails. CR’s testers find that the electric motor works well on smooth hills that aren’t too steep. Braking is inadequate on steep trails, but it works well on CR’s street course, which is less demanding. A wide range of gear selections makes unassisted hill climbs relatively easy. When it comes to electric assist, there’s a notable power lag—a consistent problem with cadence-sensing assist setups. As a result, the rider needs adequate distance to deal with delayed power delivery when pedaling begins, and an extra jolt of power after pedaling stops. The Adventure doesn’t work well on technical terrain—washouts, stumps, logs, dips, etc.—and its brakes aren’t adequate for steep hills. They have small rotors, and are cable-operated rather than hydraulic, meaning the cables will stretch over time, impacting braking performance. Also, the controls for the e-assist display are too small, making them difficult to see. Because the Adventure has a front derailleur, shifting is complicated, so it may be easier to deal with changes in hill pitch by leaving the bike in the same gear and adjusting the motor’s power to a higher level (rather than downshifting to increase the amount of work you could get out of pedaling). Fast pedaling can lead to outrunning motor power, which means the rider has to push the ponderous weight of the machine with leg power alone.

About

The Jetson Adventure electric mountain bike is, overall, a very good choice. This hub-drive bike has its electric motor located within the rear wheel's hub, which doesn't allow the e-assist to use the bike's mechanical gearing for more effective climbing, cruising, and getting through difficult terrain. It also has cable-pull disc brakes, which don't work as well as hydraulic disc brakes, especially on long downhills.
