Grills
The Coleman Roadtrip is a favorite among campers and tailgaters, and different iterations (including the 285 model here) tend to do quite well in our tests. What’s nice about this configuration is that it includes legs with built-in wheels—many portable grills are built to use on a tabletop. This is among the best prices we’ve ever seen on this model—it’s about $70 less than the Prime Day day one price of $315.
The price for the Weber Genesis E-325s has jumped $100 since last week, so you may want to hold off on buying one to see if it dips again. This is a midsized gas grill with three main burners that perform very well in our tests, from evenness and temperature range to convenience. It’s definitely the most substantial of the grills here, and is well-suited to cook for a larger crowd. It receives solid marks for indirect cooking, plus Weber has stellar owner satisfaction and reliability scores.
Grill Accessories
Cave Tools BBQ Kebab Skewers
These flat skewers are a great choice for your grilling needs this year. Unlike round skewers, they keep even really tender foods (like scallops) from spinning, making it easy to turn each kebab. Right now, you can get them for a hefty discount.
Slow 'N Sear Deluxe Charcoal Grill Basket
This basket lets you keep all your lit charcoal on one side of the grill, so you can crisp a chicken leg or sear a steak on the side the coals are on, then move it to the side without the coals to cook through without burning. Price shown is for the 18-inch model.
Cuisinart CGS-W13 Grill Kit
This kit is exactly what you want if you’re grilling on the go, like at a park or on a beach. It has all the essential tools and comes in a nice case, which makes it easy to transport. This sale price is only $1 more than the lowest price we’ve seen in recent times.
Meat Thermometers
ThermoPro’s SmartBT Meat Thermometer TP920 is one of the lower-priced leave-in two-probe wireless thermometers we’ve tested. It sends instant temperature readings to your smartphone via Bluetooth, offering excellent response time and accuracy. The easy-to-use app estimates the remaining cooking time for nearly all cuts and varieties of meat based on guidelines from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This has dropped $9 since Wednesday.
The ThermoPro TP19H instant-read meat thermometer offers temperature readings with a single stowable probe. There’s a built-in LED and rotation lock for the display, and a magnetic backing allows you to store it on your refrigerator between meals. Perfect for checking meats, this simple thermometer delivers reliably accurate readings within seconds. We found the model to be highly accurate in our tests, too. The price is a few dollars less than the most recent low.
Gear for the Great Outdoors
Yeti Hopper Flip 8 Soft Cooler
Whether it’s a trip to the beach or an overnight at a campsite, a small cooler you can easily tote along is a no-brainer. The Yeti Hopper Flip 8 was the top performer in our lab tests, thoroughly chilling eight cans and ice for hours. The semi-soft cooler is claimed to be leakproof and has a heavy-duty zipper that can handle your most extreme outdoor adventures, but it can be tough to open and close. It has a long shoulder strap that makes carrying it easier, although it weighs almost 3 pounds when empty.
Sun Ninja Beach Canopy
The Sun Ninja Beach Canopy has a unique shape that gives us Salvador Dali vibes. Among the canopies we tested, it offered the most consistent shade and held its own in the wind. The poles didn’t tilt, and the canopy simply swayed with the breeze, but this didn’t affect shade coverage. It’s available in several sizes and starts around $60 (the price shown above is for the largest size).
Pizza Ovens
Gyber Fremont 29-Inch Wood-Fired Pizza Oven
If you’re looking for a wood-burning pizza oven that doesn’t cost too much, this model could be a good option. It was recently closer to $135, so this isn’t quite the best price, but it is still being sold at a nice discount. It’s not the most refined outdoor oven we’ve tried, but at this price, it is among the cheapest, and it definitely made delicious pies in our evaluation.
Everdure Kiln 2 Burner Propane Pizza Oven
The Everdure Kiln pizza oven is the priciest outdoor pizza oven we evaluated, but at this price (which is a whopping $400 off the MSRP), it’s a steal. Powered by electricity (plug-in or battery) it simply requires a push-start to rotate your pizza for an even cook. As with all pizza ovens, you’ll need some practice to get great results, but this model has tons of bells and whistles and is currently available at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
BakerStone Pizza Oven Attachment
Who says you have to drop hundreds on a trendy freestanding pizza oven to make a perfect pie? If you own a grill, all you need is an attachment like this one from BakerStone. Throw it right onto the grates of your grill. The grill provides the heat. While we didn’t try this grill-compatible model, we did try the BakerStone with a dedicated gas burner and found we got great results.
Pressure Washers
The GPW2301 pressure washer from Greenworks is very effective at removing stains, it’s relatively quiet, and it comes with interchangeable nozzle tips. It’s easy to move and transport, and easy to use (you just plug it in), and it even comes with convenient hose storage. But it’s not a very powerful machine, and its hose is shorter than in most pressure washers we’ve tested. It’s offered at a modest discount right now.
Leaf Blowers
The Skil BL4713C-11 does a great job sweeping leaves, including those stragglers that get embedded in grass. For quicker, smaller jobs, this model should suffice. This price is the lowest we’ve seen in at least the last six months.
This corded, electric Black+Decker BEBL7000 is effective for smaller jobs, keeping in mind that you’ll be limited by the length of your extension cord. It can also be converted to a vacuum mode for collecting and mulching leaves into a bag, and the bag can be worn as a backpack. The price is the best we’ve seen at any point in recent memory.
Lawn Mower
For a competitive price, the spartan Ego LM2114 performs commendably, with a respectable run time of almost an hour on one battery. This 21-inch-wide push mower doesn’t have high wheels for better maneuvering and doesn’t include a second battery. The battery takes about an hour and a half to charge. It has a three-year warranty, which is fairly standard among the higher-rated battery push mowers in our ratings. The price is quite good—Amazon has it for about $130 less than competitors like Acme or Lowe’s.
Patio Umbrellas
Testers found the Sunnyglade Rectangular Offset Hanging Umbrella easy to adjust both in tilt and rotation. The patio umbrella can be rotated 360 degrees by stepping on a pedal and twisting the pole. The tilting mechanism allows for four levels of adjustment, all of which hold steady. The square canopy, which is removable, is vented and made of coated polyester. It comes in five colors: tan, bright blue, red, dark blue, and gray. The price is a really nice discount and about $55 less than the most recent low we’ve seen.
Solar Outdoor Lights
The Brightech Pro Solar Powered Outdoor String Lights are the best in class in our tests, with above-average marks for light duration and a top score for ease of use. Long and widely spaced, these lights provide flexibility. You can run the strand as is for more subtle lighting or double up the cord to concentrate more of the light in a tighter space. Each of its 12 separate Edison-style oval-shaped bulbs has 24 LEDs, resulting in exceptionally bright light. The lights can’t be manually charged, but they do have replaceable batteries and an on/off button to preserve power.
It’s hard to compete with the value offered by the Gigalumi Grid Solar Pathway Lights. Their cost is lower (on a per-light basis) than just about any other path light we’ve seen, and yet they earn solid marks for both light duration and ease of use. The lights cast a dimmer glow than the other products we tested. But that may not be a deal breaker if you’ve got supplemental lighting elsewhere or you’re using these strictly to create ambience. There’s a single setting, an on/off button, and a removable battery, but the lights can’t be charged or angled.
The JSOT Outdoor Solar Deck Lights were the only deck lights to earn top marks for light duration. Designed to be mounted to a stair riser or other solid surface and attached with screws, they emit a medium-bright light, and each light contains 3 LEDs. While the lights can’t be charged with a cable, they have an on/off switch, so you can turn them off to build up power if you’re concerned about their charge. Price shown is for a 6-pack of lights.
Outdoor Smart Security Camera
The latest Google Nest Cam (Battery) is a strong performer in our tests, offering terrific video quality, data security, and response time, and it works both indoors and outdoors. It’s also one of a few security cameras to give you monitoring zones, object recognition (of people, packages, animals, and vehicles), and three free hours of cloud video storage without a monthly subscription. The doorbell also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice and app control. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as facial recognition) require a Google Nest Aware subscription.
Chainsaws
This battery-powered model from Ego did well in our ratings for cutting and safety, though it lacks a kickback guard. (It does include a chain brake.) It’s also extremely easy to use and maneuver. Last week, this model was selling for just under $350 at several retailers.
This battery-powered chainsaw is among the best in our ratings. It effortlessly cuts through hardwood and is comfortable to operate during extended tasks. Thanks to a kickback guard and chain brake, it scored well for safety. It was also easy to use and very easy to maneuver, and it did a bit better for noise than most models.
