Travel Gear

Trtl Travel Pillow

Trtl Travel Pillow

The Trtl Travel Pillow certainly stands out with its unique design. Unlike the U-shaped microbead or memory foam pillows, this one looks like a scarf. The supportive plastic frame inside the fabric has the contour of a neck. To use it, you extend the pillow, wrap it around your neck, and hold it in place with the fastening tape inside.

So is it supportive? Yes, but it has its flaws. While it’s easy to use and supports your head and neck, it needs to be repositioned if you want to change the direction your head is leaning. It’s better for people who don’t move much while sleeping, because it can get annoying having to reposition the pillow every time your head leans in a different direction.

Travelon Anti-Theft Greenlander Sling Bag

Travelon Anti-Theft Greenlander Sling Bag

With a built-in anti-theft security system, this compact sling bag can be a saving grace for those traveling with valuables. “This bag has a slash-resistant mesh barrier in front, sides, and bottom body panels, plus a slash-resistant strap. And the RFID-blocking organizer on the front locking zippered pocket is perfectly sized for a phone,” says Anne McAlpin, author of “Pack It Up: The Essential Guide to Smart Travel.” RFID, or radio frequency identification, prevents skimming theft, which can occur when illegally installed devices capture personal data like PINs for ATMs.

Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer and Styler

Revlon One-Step Volumizer Hair Dryer and Styler

The Revlon One-Step Volumizer is beloved for a reason: It just works. One tester shared this pro tip to achieve the best results: Keep tension on the hair and work in smaller sections. Otherwise, you may end up with a head full of frizz. At 28 percent off, this is a steal.

Tymo Ring Straightening Comb

Tymo Ring Straightening Comb

In our at-home evaluations, this straightening comb worked best for testers with curly hair. It has five temperature settings, an auto shutoff feature, and is extremely lightweight. One tester especially liked that it could straighten the hair right at the root better than the Drybar Straightening Brush it was tested against. Even better, this straightener is $2 less than the lowest price we’ve seen.

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools hair styling tools are a common sight at hair salons, and for good reason. Our evaluators found that this flat iron heated up fast and was easy to use. It has variable heat settings to give users more control, and the plates are slightly longer than most straighteners, a feature that could be useful for styling longer hair. It’s important to note that the temperature consistency isn’t reliable and could vary by as much as 20 degrees from the set temperature during use. It has a 2-hour window before it automatically shuts off, so you’ll want to remember to unplug it after every use.

Even though this is technically more than $50, we’re including it here because it’s discounted by 52 percent—a huge bargain.

StackedSkincare Professional Dermaplaning Tool

 StackedSkincare Professional Dermaplaning Tool

This reusable dermaplaning tool was comfortable for our evaluators to hold, with a textured aluminum handle and a straight shape. “Something about the base on this tool felt substantial, and directly or indirectly, it made the entire experience feel very sophisticated and professional,” said one evaluator. It was effective at removing peach fuzz and stray hairs around the brows.

Loving Tan Platinum Mousse

 Loving Tan Platinum Mousse

One of our evaluators called this tanner her number-one favorite, hands-down. “I knew I had found my match. The application was easy, and the product went on smoothly. OMG … Loving Tan is perfection,” she said. It’s slightly fragranced and is best for deep skin tones. Stock up for summer with this 25 percent discount.

Kitchen

The Chefman RJ38-2T air fryer is a small, easy-to-use, basic model with a digital display and a reminder to shake your food for even crispness. After making chicken nuggets and fries in this air fryer, we found it easy to clean. It’s also whisper-quiet. We’ve seen this air fryer dip to this sale price before, but at under $40, it’s a steal given its performance in our tests.

Ogednac Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set

Ogednac Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set

The Ogednac Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder Set is less powerful than many of the other grinders we tried, with a 20-second lag between starting the mill and dispensing the product. The grind is very smooth, and the finest setting creates fine powder. It’s also quiet and easy to handle, especially for kids. And the LED lights show how charged the battery is and illuminate where the salt and pepper landed. But it’s hard to clean because the reservoir doesn’t detach from the mill.

ThermoPro’s SmartBT Meat Thermometer TP920 is one of the lower-priced leave-in two-probe wireless thermometers. It sends instant temperature readings to your smartphone via Bluetooth, offering excellent response time and accuracy. The easy-to-use app estimates the remaining cooking time for nearly all cuts and varieties of meat based on guidelines from the Department of Agriculture.

This thermometer is back to the lowest price we’ve seen during Prime Day.

Outdoors

Coleman Cooler Quad Chair

Coleman Cooler Quad Chair

Elevate your beach setup with a collapsible beach chair at a great price. This versatile option is also prime for going to barbecues, sporting events, camping trips, and a host of outdoor events. Take the Coleman out of its matching travel bag (which features a shoulder strap and feels lightweight when carrying it from the parking lot to the sand), unfold its accordion-like legs, give it a shake, and just like that, you have a sturdy outdoor chair with barely any effort. When you’re ready to leave, it collapses in seconds and slips back into the carrying bag with close to no effort.

The Coleman chair features two compartments—a double-zippered insulated pack that hangs down from the left armrest and holds four beverage cans, and a pouch with a mesh front on the right side of the chair, which is roomy enough to hold books. The right armrest has a built-in mesh cup holder that holds a Stanley cup, Hydro Flask, or other bottle.

Sleep Essentials

The Fern & Willow Down Alternative Pillows are filled with a plush down-alternative material and sold as a set of two. In our testing, they provided support for both side and back sleepers while maintaining their shape over time. The pillows feature a cooling gel fiber fill and a breathable cotton cover. These pillows have even dropped $5 since the start of Prime Day.

The Beckham Luxury Linens Hotel Collection Pillow has a 100-percent cotton cover and a 100-percent polyester gel-fiber filling. The pillow aced our test for breathability, so it should help keep you from feeling hot; it also scored top marks for resiliency, so it should maintain its shape over time.

The Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow is made of polyurethane foam and comes with a micro-polyamide and polyester cover. Despite this composition, testers found that the pillow excels in breathability. It is a great choice for side sleepers, but less ideal for back sleepers, according to our lab tests. Expect its firmness, height, and support to remain consistent with use.

This is slightly more than $50, but it’s so close, we’re including it on this list.

Brushed microfiber isn’t as breathable as cotton, but if synthetic fibers aren’t a hang-up, this Mellanni sheet set is a top-notch pick. It offers a softer feel than most cotton options and is pretty resistant to wrinkling. The one area where these bedsheets slightly miss the mark is in our fit test. Though the packaging claims “deep pockets,” this set is best suited for mattresses with a depth of 10 inches or less.

Bedsure Heated Flannel Blanket

Bedsure Heated Flannel Blanket

The Bedsure Electric Heated Flannel Blanket is thin but light. Though it’s cozy, it resembles an inexpensive fleece blanket you’d find at a grocery store. One side is striped flannel and the other is linty fleece. The flannel is not the best quality, but it does get hot. And it has the lightest wires of the blankets we evaluated. This is the price for a throw-sized blanket. Other sizes vary in price.

Yogasleep Dohm Uno Sound Machine

Yogasleep Dohm Uno Sound Machine

The Dohm Uno keeps things simple with a real fan that produces a single, soothing white noise sound. Testers praised its gentle hum for masking distractions and promoting sleep, though some found it almost too relaxing for work. Just note that the fan can cause vibrations on hard surfaces; this is easily fixed by placing it on a book or other soft surface.

JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock

JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock

The JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock has two independent alarms (so you can set them for different times depending on your routine), seven alarm tones (including “wind bells” and birds chirping), an FM radio, and a fall-asleep mode that simulates a sunset (though no white-noise option). It was relatively easy to set up and use. According to the manufacturer, it emits a maximum light intensity of 240 lux.

Personal Care

If you want an electric toothbrush that won’t cost an arm and a leg, the Sonicare 4100 is a good choice. This is the standard sale price that’s available more often than not, but it’s much cheaper than other options that rate just as highly in our tests. Although this toothbrush is on the simpler side when it comes to extra features, it still performs admirably when it comes to teeth cleaning and ease of use. It offers two cleaning modes, and it comes with two especially helpful features: a timer and a pressure sensor. It doesn’t offer any connectivity to an app.

Nektek Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager

Nektek Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager

This massager, made famous on TikTok, falls in the middle of the pack in terms of pricing, compared with the other models we evaluated. The reviewer found that the nodes pressed into their neck in an uncomfortable way, but two others who tried it loved it, so you might find the massager is just right or not right at all (but don’t worry—there’s a 30-day return window on Amazon). However, when it came to heat, this massager really shone. It reaches temperatures of 109° F. You can use this massager on various body parts, and it even comes with a car adapter, making it a boon for road trips.

Papillon Shiatsu Neck and Back Massage Pillow

Papillon Shiatsu Neck and Back Massage Pillow

The Papillon Shiatsu Neck and Back Massage Pillow is at the lowest price we’ve ever seen. It checks a lot of the boxes for being the perfect massager. It’s effective and lightweight. In fact, it’s the lightest of all the electric massagers we tried, according to our measurements. It’s also fairly inexpensive. You can use the massager on different body parts, such as your back, neck, shoulders, legs, and feet. It also offers a good amount of heat.

Pet Essentials

Furbo Camera

Furbo Camera

In evaluating the best pet cameras, the Furbo pet camera was our editors’ top choice, thanks to its aesthetically pleasing design and camera with a wide viewing angle. The ability to choose a voice prompt for the treat toss is a bonus. The device’s basic app features include live view, toss treats, talk to and hear your pet, and get barking alerts. The Nanny cam subscription includes cloud recording, advanced barking alert, Doggie Diary (a video summary of the day that you can choose to save to your device), activity alert, selfie alert, and person alert. And yes, you can still use the Furbo if you have a cat.

LeSure Cat Bed

LeSure Cat Bed

A comfortable bed for your pet that can add a fun pop of color to your space sounds like a win-win. CR writer Jodhaira Rodriguez recommends this cat bed, which her cat Frank “barely fits in (because he is a very big boy that I am way overfeeding), but I find him here every time I come home.”

WoofiGo Stainles Steel CaLitter Box

WoofiGo Stainles Steel CaLitter Box

Stainless steel litter boxes have grown popular recently, thanks largely to the nonstick material that is much easier to clean than other traditional litter boxes. I personally own a stainless box for my cats, and it really is a simpler process to get everything disinfected when I change out the litter. And our evaluator had a similar experience, saying it only took a few swipes with soap and water and a generous rinsing to get it shining like new again. The one thing I will say is the sound of your cats digging around is much different (and much louder) when they’re scratching metal versus plastic.

Earth Rated Max Absorbency Pee Pads

Earth Rated Max Absorbency Pee Pads

Earth Rated Max Absorbency Pee Pads were a top performer in water absorption, but they were not our top pick because they cost significantly more per pad and per 100 square inches than the other pee pads we tested. But if these are within your budget, you’ll probably love the four adhesive tabs on the back as much as our tester did. Because of this, they stay put, and they also hold up well in shredding tests.

And if you choose to autoship with Chewy, the discount brings that price down to $24 for the first order.

Home Products

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

Conair Turbo ExtremeSteam Steam & Press with Turbo GS59X

The Conair GS59X does a good job of evening out rumples in thin cotton dress shirts, but like most handheld steamers, it struggles with creases. It took about 12 minutes to steam a button-up shirt, and our tester couldn’t handle a more challenging linen one.  This steamer got solidly average scores in our lab tests across the board, including for steam power (16.62 grams per minute), heat time (1 minute), and run time (13 minutes). The tank is relatively easy to fill, and the steamer can operate vertically and horizontally.

The Clear Rear Buttler Bidet offers dual nozzles and reliable cleaning power, which is impressive given the reasonable price. You can also count on easy setup: It comes preassembled and offers a guide for easy alignment with the back rim of your toilet. You can control the pressure of the water, but you can’t adjust the spray nozzles to point in different directions. The bidet also doesn’t easily flip up, as some models do, which can make regular cleaning of your toilet bowl and the surrounding area a bigger chore. This model doesn’t have a warm water option.

Swiffer PowerMop

The Swiffer PowerMop is a great all-in-one option for keeping floors clean. The cleaning solution is attached to the mop, allowing you to spray as you go. It uses single-use pads so you can just throw them away when you’re done (but there are plenty of reusable options out there, too). It works on most surfaces, and our testers were impressed with its ability to mop up liquids but found it struggled with dirt, pushing it around more than picking it up. But if you’ve got dirt covered with a broom or vacuum, the Swiffer PowerMop can be a great companion cleaner.

Tech

In the words of the Philosopher-King/Bombastic Rock God Meatloaf, two out of three ain’t bad. A great pair of headphones does three things: 1) fit well, 2) deliver effective noise-canceling, and 3) sound terrific. This Soundcore model hits the mark on the first two line items. Sound-wise? It’s not terrible, but it’s not great either. The bass is a little bloated, the midrange not as clear as you’d like it, while the high frequencies have a sizzle that’s okay on your breakfast bacon, but not ideal on your favorite music. But at this price, you can overlook those shortcomings, especially if you’re gifting the headphones to a friend or relative who’s less than picky, or using them for podcasts or a little easy listening.

The wireless Soundcore Space A40 earbuds showcase solid sound quality, as well as admirable noise reduction in our labs. And in our member surveys, the Soundcore brand receives favorable predicted reliability and owner satisfaction ratings. But what truly sets these buds apart is the below-$50 price, which makes them giftable and, if you’re inclined to misplace things, even abandonable without tears.

The Arlo Video Doorbell 2K is versatile: You can run it using the rechargeable battery or hardwire it to a home’s doorbell wiring for continuous power. Features include geofencing and voice/app control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Assistant. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as alerts for people, packages, animals, and vehicles) require an Arlo Secure subscription. This doorbell was already on sale for the lowest price we’ve ever seen, dropping below previous Prime Day sales, and now it’s dropped another $12 since the start of Prime Day.

The Ring Stick Up Cam (Battery) is an all-around great camera, and it’s currently available at the lowest price we’ve ever seen. It works both indoors and outdoors and gives you activity zones, voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, and alert schedules so that you can silence alerts at certain times of day. In our tests, this Ring camera receives strong scores for daytime video quality, response time, and data security. Cloud video storage and additional features (such as person detection) require a Ring Home subscription.

Label Makers

Phomemo M110 Label Maker

Phomemo M110 Label Maker

The Phomemo M110 is the bigger, bulkier version of the Phomemo D30, which we also evaluated and liked. The M110 offers a bit more flexibility with the size of the label you’re creating. It uses the same app, and has a wide variety of fonts, styles, and images, with quick creation and easy label cutting. Its size, compared with the smaller Phomemo, makes it a bit less portable, and its alignment isn’t as precise when it comes to cutting the label exactly on the cut line compared with other label printers. But it’s still a solid option.

Health

This thermometer earned top marks for accuracy, consistency, and ease of cleaning. It’s made to be used with disposable plastic probe caps, so there’s no need to worry about earwax sticking to the probe and reducing accuracy. It’s an in-ear-only thermometer, so it can’t be used for children younger than 6 months. In terms of features, this is the most basic of the three Braun ThermoScan thermometers we tested, but it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a less expensive option that gets the job done.

This Braun model doesn’t indicate whether you’ve positioned the probe correctly inside the ear. It stores only one previous temperature recording. There’s also no option to mute the thermometer’s beeps, and the display lacks backlighting, making it difficult to read in the dark.
