The fourth and final day of Amazon Prime Day brings a new wave of Lightning Deals—sudden, fleeting, and limited in quantity, these flash sales usually bring the steepest discounts of the year on hot products, with the caveat being that you need an Amazon Prime subscription to access them. Right now, we’re only seeing one product from CR’s evaluations on offer.
Lightning Deals don’t last long, and once you add one to your cart, you have 15 minutes to check out or you’ll lose the item. Once they run out of inventory, that’s it, so you may not even be able to come back and buy it later if it’s an especially coveted item.
With limited Lightning Deals to choose from, you may be looking for more options to shop. Consumer Reports has you covered. Our experts are tracking all the best deals on top-rated items during Amazon Prime Day. Head over to our Deals hub for the latest deals on everything from kitchen appliances and home products to outdoor needs, tech devices, and more.
We haven’t seen a deal on this Made In 10-Piece Clad set in a long time, so it’s worth considering if you’re looking for a full cookware set, especially one that’s free of PTFE (Teflon) and other harmful PFAS chemicals. This set aces our cooking evenness tests, in which we use a thermal imaging camera to look for cooler spots, as well as our speed of heating and food release tests. This set is on the pricier side, but one thing you can generally rely on when you pay more for cookware is handle sturdiness. In our tests, this model received a very good score for that measure.
The JBL Xtreme 3 is one hefty hunk of speaker, and now it’s back down to its best price. In any case, you might be surprised at how large it is when you see it in person. The Xtreme 3 sounds slightly better than its predecessor, too, although it’s very close in overall character. The model can play loud enough to fill a medium-sized to large room. The Xtreme 3 features an internal power bank that can charge other devices, and JBL says the speaker is both dustproof and water-resistant to 3 meters, but CR doesn’t test those claims.
Duxtop Prortable Induction Cooktop
A portable induction cooktop (or burner) is the perfect kitchen complement during the busy holiday cooking season. It gives you, well, an extra burner at a time when stove space is at a premium. In our tests, the Duxtop 9600LS was the single best burner we tried, simmering steadily and heating faster than some full-sized gas ranges. Like all induction cooktops, it works only with magnetic cookware like stainless steel or cast iron. If you want to make sure it’ll work with your favorite pan, stick a magnet on the pan bottom. If it sticks, the pan will work with this burner or any other induction appliance.
If you’re looking for an accurate smart bathroom scale you can rely on, the Renpho Smart Scale ES-CS20M could fit the bill, especially at this price. It received excellent scores in multiple tests, including consistency and accuracy. It connects to your devices via Bluetooth and features automatic weight tracking. The Renpho comes with a one-year warranty. This Renpho is among the top 10 smart scales in our ratings, making this a great time to buy a top-performing product.
If you want more control of your in-ground sprinkler system but don’t want to spend a ton, this system from Orbit could be the answer. Our smart home expert says that setup is a bit cumbersome and the app can be tricky to use, but once you get it up and running, it performs well and is reliable. This model is slightly different than the version we tested, but we expect it to perform similarly.
It earns a top rating in our tests for convenience because of its easy-to-use controls and weatherproof casing, plus it’s a cinch to connect to the internet. Its weather responsiveness isn’t quite as good as the competition’s because it uses more limited weather data, though it still beat out other models in our tests. It features manual controls with its LED screen as well as app and voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Assistant. This model works with up to 12 sprinkler zones; a six-zone version is also available.
Willow Go Wearable Breast Pump
The Willow Go wearable breast pump did well in CR’s evaluations. It has two modes (stimulation and expression) and nine suction levels, and it comes with 21- and 24-millimeter flanges. The pump also connects to a mobile app that can be used to control the pump and ask for expert advice.
This HelloBaby model is one of the lower-priced video monitors to earn CR’s recommendation. The device has its own display and handles the video feed locally, so it doesn’t have the privacy and security issues of internet-connected models. It lacks a night light, but that’s hardly a deal breaker.
It’s worth noting that we tested the 5" version, and the 6" screen is on sale for a better price, so you’re getting more screen for your buck.
