With today’s unveiling of Apple TV+, the streaming video services market just got more competitive. 

Apple TV+ will launch Nov. 1 with original content featuring marquee talent, including Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Jason Momoa. And the $5-per-month price undercuts the $7-per-month Disney+ service, which will debut Nov. 12.

Apple is offering a one-week free trial, allowing you to kick the tires on the new service. And starting today, anyone buying a new iPhone, iPad, Mac computer, or Apple TV will get a free year of Apple TV+.

Based on the lineup of shows announced at today’s Apple press conference, Apple TV+ will have far less content than Disney+, because Disney is home to the “Star Wars” franchise and movies and/or TV shows from 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios, and Pixar.

But that comparison might not matter to people deciding whether to try these new services. “Given the relatively low pricing and the fact there’s no contract, a lot of consumers are going to go try both, jumping back and forth as the content assortment changes,” says Dan Rayburn, principal analyst at research firm Frost & Sullivan. “The churn on these services will be relatively high, and a good number of people may ultimately decide to get both.”

Apple TV is among the least expensive streaming options available. In addition to being cheaper than Disney+, Apple TV+ is also priced well below Netflix’s most popular Standard plan, which costs $13 per month. HBO Max, a new service from AT&T’s WarnerMedia division, is slated to hit early next year and is likely to cost around $15 per month.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple TV+ would debut with a few original series and then add more shows every month.

Among the shows that will be available at launch are “The Morning Show,” about a morning talk show, starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell; “See,” a post-apocalypse drama starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard; “For All Mankind,” a series that imagines what would have happened if the global space race had never ended; and “Dickinson,” a coming-of-age story from the perspective of Emily Dickinson.

Shows to debut later include a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s 1980s series “Amazing Stories”;  “Little Voice,” about an up-and-coming singer, from director J.J. Abrams and singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles; “Servant,” a psychological thriller from director M. Night Shyamalan; and a series of documentaries from Oprah Winfrey.

Apple already owns a few original shows, including “Planet of the Apps” and James Cordon’s “Carpool Karaoke: The Series,” which are currently available as part of an Apple Music subscription.

Apple has committed to spending $6 billion on original content for the service, according to a report in The Financial Times.

Earlier this year, the company said it would also launch Apple TV Channels, designed to make it easy for Apple TV users to subscribe to channels such as HBO and Showtime from a single app. The company didn’t discuss that service at today’s event.

Subscribers to Apple TV+ can watch the service on the Apple TV app, which comes preinstalled on many Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV devices. It’s also available on certain Samsung smart TVs and is reportedly coming to Amazon Fire TV and Roku streaming devices, and LG, Sony, and Vizio smart TVs, in the near future.

At today’s press event, Apple unveiled new iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, and said its new subscription game service, called Apple Arcade and coming Sept. 19, will also cost $5 per month.
