2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is recalled

Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 14,000 GLE and GLS SUVs because of concerns that the rear door window trim may detach. Fallen trim could be a road hazard and create a crash risk.

This recall affects only 2020 model-year vehicles.

The recall is expected to begin Dec. 3, 2019. Dealerships will be available to schedule a time when a mechanic can inspect the trim and properly secure it.

The Details

Vehicles recalled: 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE350, GLE350 4Matic, GLE450 4Matic, GLS450 4Matic, and GLS580 4Matic SUVs.

The problem: The rear door window trim may detach.

The fix: Dealerships will inspect and fasten the rear door window trim, as necessary, at no charge.

How to contact the manufacturer: Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 800-367-6372.

NHTSA campaign number: 19V709000.

Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: NHTSA’s website will tell you whether your vehicle has a recall that needs to be addressed.

If you plug your car’s 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) into NHTSA’s website and a recall doesn’t appear, it means your vehicle doesn’t currently have one. Because automakers issue recalls often, and for many older vehicles, we recommend checking back regularly.
