This version of the F-250 Super Duty has many strong points. The Ford-built Powerstroke 6.4-liter turbodiesel V8 got the best fuel economy among the heavy-duty diesel trucks of its day, while providing plenty of towing and payload-hauling capability.

Cabin space is generous, with a large backseat and abundant storage. Nice features abound, including an optional tailgate step and built-in switches for accessories. But the truck also has several dynamic shortcomings. A stiff ride and a lack of agility are typical for the class. Stopping distances are long and the F-250's emergency handling has very low limits, even compared to other heavy-duty trucks. In fact, we do not recommended the F-250 because of its poor emergency handling capabilities.

"I believe the ECM was faulty and it was replaced."

Anonymous, NS (2015 Ford F-250 XLT 6.2-L V8)

"The vehicle has no DEF quantity indicator, ran out of DEF, the vehicle went into safe mode. The vehicle would only do 5 MPH had it towed to the dealership to reset code."

Julio R., NY (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

"The DEF tank has to be filled to the top of the filler tube in order for the power-down mode to reset."

Anonymous, WI (2015 Ford F-250 XL 6.7-L V8 diesel)

"Had to replace the emission control module"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 XLT 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Fuel injection system

"Fuel filters leaking from top of filter."

Anonymous, (2015 Ford F-250 XL 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Fuel pump

"The fuel filter developed a leak on the top of the filter."

Anonymous, SC (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

"waited over 2 months for oil/air separator to become available"

Robert B., AZ (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

In-car Electronics

CD or DVD players, radio, speakers, GPS, communication system (e.g., OnStar), display screen freezes or goes blank, phone pairing (e.g. Bluetooth), voice control commands, steering wheel controls, portable music device interface (e.g., iPod/MP3 player), backup or other camera/sensors.

What Owners Say

Backup or other camera/sensors

"Intermittent operation. Dealer fixed free of charge"

Christian M., CA (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.2-L V8)

"Back up camera intermittent. Found the cause was a connector to the emergency brake"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 XLT 6.2-L V8)

"It randomly either quits working altogether, or goes all static-ey. It is so random, it is difficult to get it into the dealership when it is acting up so they can diagnose it properly. They have tried fixing a wire on it, and at first thought it was fixed, then a couple days later it did it again"

Jesse K., AB (2015 Ford F-250 King Ranch 6.2-L V8)
Display screen goes blank

"Screen for backup camera periodically goes blank, but never at the Ford Dealership. It checks out OK for them then operates for a month or so and problem reappears. Very frustrating."

George P., AR (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.2-L V8)
Phone pairing (e.g., Bluetooth)

"The system will not automatically reconnect for playing audio over Bluetooth. If you use the voice commands, it will give you a rather long message explaining that it's going to reconnect, but if you just push the button to reconnect, it's much faster. The system will automatically reconnect for phone commands, but it should also do the same for audio"

Kevin G., TX (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

"sync had to be rebooted"

Anonymous, NJ (2015 Ford F-250 XL 6.2-L V8)
Radio

"Comes on by itself really loud"

Lewis H., TN (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.2-L V8)
Software update fixes

"Check engine light Came on and required service to correct the fuel control and exhaust control computer upgrades"

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 XLT 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Steering wheel controls

"When using the next/previous buttons to go to the next station, the system will often go the wrong direction. It seems to get them confused. Next is sometimes previous and vice versa."

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Voice control commands

"Voice commands are often not synced with the currently active media source when stopping and restarting the vehicle. For example, if I am using the satellite radio and stop the truck, when I next start it and use a command like channel 30, it will tell me that it doesn't understand. However, if I state the source first like Sirius channel 30 it will take the command. Afterward, it will understand channel 30 again. Seems like it should already know that I'm listening to Sirius if that's the currently active media source."

Anonymous, TX (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)

Body Integrity

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, loose or cracked seals and/or weather-stripping, air and water leaks.

Russel G., AZ (2015 Ford F-250 XLT 6.7-L V8 diesel)

"Super loud inside cab. Have to yell at bluetooth phone calls. Also, the infotainment system is super glitchy. The technology in our CHEVROLET Suburban is light years ahead of the Ford (even the new ford with apple play still is less intuitive than chevy's)"

David H., OK (2015 Ford F-250 Platinum 6.7-L V8 diesel)

Brakes

Antilock system (ABS), parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, rotors, pulsation or vibration, squeaking, brake failure or wear.

Anonymous, (2015 Ford F-250 Platinum 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Premature brake wear

"Approximately 50% of the time, the truck pulls hard to the left during somewhat hard brake application. Being intermittent, we have not been able to pinpoint the cause of the problem. So far the only indicator has been excessive fast wear to the front left pads and rotor."

Anonymous, CA (2015 Ford F-250 Lariat 6.7-L V8 diesel)
Squeaking

"squeaking noise when driving low speeds, under 10 mph. Dealership believes a sensor needs to be adjusted. the noise is very intermittent. I will hear the noise every 6-8 days"
