Climate System

Blower (fan) motor, A/C compressor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate control, refrigerant leakage, electrical failure.

What Owners Say

A/C compressor

"I had To replace it. Now they're saying the blower door needs to be replaced and they have to take the entire dash apart to fix the issue. Drivers side always blows hot air."

Anonymous, MI (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 5.3-L V8)

"The compressor blew a seal and had to be replaced."

Anonymous, CA (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Air conditioner had to be completely replaced at 40000 miles"

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Air conditioner did not work. Fortunately, repair covered under extended warranty in the summer of 2019. I was told I would've spent several thousand dollars to repair this had I not had the coverage."

Anonymous, ME (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Unsure Unsure)

"hole in line"

Michael D., WA (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"The housing cracked 3 miles out of warranty. No one was able to say why but it cost $1500.00 to repair"

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2-L V8)

"A/C compressor locked up. Replaced under warranty the same day"

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"a crack developed in the compressor which resulted in a complete failure of the A/C system. Resulted in an $1,100 repair cost"

J W., TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)

"Not sure if it was the compressor could have been condenser. The dealership said something about the clutch melting. I'm guessing compressor issue"

Anonymous, AR (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 WT 4.3-L V6)

"A/c compressor froze up causing belt to burn"

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 6.2-L V8)

"compressor broke down after 2 years of use. spent $1,500.00 to replace as it was not covered under warranty."

Ken H., FL (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)

"The compressor housing cracked and the AC quit working. it cost $1800 to fix because it was 5 miles out of warranty."

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 6.2-L V8)
Automatic climate control

"Heat or A/C actuators failed off & on. Driver side would receive desired cooling while passenger side would blow out hot air even when both auto temp settings were for the same."

Anonymous, AZ (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"as with last question"

Aaron O., ND (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3-L V8)

"Does not maintain an even temp when on auto. Have to continue to adjust while driving"

Leonard D., MT (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 5.3-L V8)

"A/C temp control issue. Vehicle has dual climate controls. Regardless of temp set for driver side, A/C would only output warm air on driver side. After 3 dealer service visits where hoses were replaced on condenser, service manager determined issue was the electronic climate control head under dash. After waiting 6 weeks for new control head, it was installed and the issue appears to be fixed (waiting for extended FL summer heat to be sure). All work and parts to date were covered under warrant"

Anonymous, FL (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Took 3 service calls to dealership to diagnose/fix/replace a blend door actuator. Last service call resulted in vehicle at dealership for 3 weeks. Dash had to be completely removed in order to remove plenum box for replacement of blend door actuator on backside of plenum box."

T L W., FL (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)
Blower (fan) motor

"loud blower after cabin filter changed. Dealer cannot find the cause"

William S., NC (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)
Condenser

"The condenser failed at a welded seam hidden from normal view. Service shop has seen a number of these failures in the Sam location. Paid for repair, GMC notified and noted it did nothing more to compensate for an apparent structural failure"

Anonymous, LA (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 5.3-L V8)

"It sprung a leak. Developed a crack at the fitting. Had to replace condenser."

Anonymous, CA (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Condenser cracked at mounting bracket leaking refrigerant. This is a known issue with many 2014-19 GM vehicles using the same part. Parts were not available anyplace except third party vendors that the dealership would not use because the repairs were to be done under my extended warranty. I complained to the Dealership, GM, and the WA Insurance commissioner. They finally agreed to buy one from 800 Radiators and warranty it as an OEM part. It took 5 weeks to get it back as I left it at the dealership as it was clear they had lots of other customers waiting for the same part. Very disappointed in GM as the part is subject to a service bulletin but I still had to pay the deductible under my extended warranty ($200)."

"The condenser developed a leak and allowed the refrigerant to escape."

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"In October of 2019 my air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. Took to a trusted repair shop I use and they said that the condenser was bad and it would cost $900.00 to fix. Mechanic told me that he has had several GMC trucks come into his shop with the same issue. He felt that GMC should consider doing a recall because the condenser should not go bad after only 4 years."

Anonymous, OH (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 6.2-L V8)

"leak in condenser, lost all refrigerant, about 3 months ago, replaced condenser and charged system in the last month."

Anonymous, LA (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Unsure 5.3-L V8)

"Condenser went out on vehicle last week. Was covered by the extended warranty purchased when the vehicle was purchased. Otherwise, cost would have been over $1000.00"

"While washing the truck paint peeled off the passenger door in two places. The affected areas are about 1/2" X 1" each. GMC maintains it was caused by road hazards (stones or sand striking the paint). I believe that while stones may cause a small chip the surrounding area should not peel"

Anonymous, TX (2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3-L V8)

"Differential had to be rebuilt twice. Both were covered under warranty but GM doesnt replace the parts and it seems like a problem that will keep occurring. First time they rebuilt it they had to also replace the whole right control arm with all linkages and brake lines (which they didnt cover under warranty for over 700$). I also noticed the control arm they replaced were steel and not aluminum which it had originally. Overall it seems like GM is aware of the 4x4 system issues but doesnt want to fix it by replacing parts. Instead wants to keep rebuilding it until warranty expires and make the customer pay."
