Kia Sorento 2008 4-door SUV
Trim Shown: Sport Utility
The Sorento is priced similarly to many small SUVs, even though it's larger than most of its competitors. The 3.8-liter V6 makes 262 hp, and a 3.3-liter engine is new in the LX trim for 2008. Acceleration with the 3.3-liter is quite spirited, the engine sounds relatively smooth, and fuel economy is a decent 17 mpg overall. The interior is fairly roomy, with good fit and finish. With its low-range gearing and ample ground clearance, the Sorento is competent off-road. The ride is still stiff and handling is clumsy, though stability control makes it ultimately secure. IIHS side-crash-test results are poor despite the standard curtain air bags.
