What Owners Say
"With 2 liter turbo, great acceleration, with competent steering and stopping performance"
Leland M., FL (2017 Kia Sportage)"Turbo is very quick."
James G., FL (2017 Kia Sportage)"acceleration is fantastic ( turbo model) very nimble for an SUV"
Shawn B., OH (2017 Kia Sportage)"For a 4cyl Turbo this car has unbelievable acceleration, handles like a sports car"
Fred E., TX (2017 Kia Sportage)"Acceleration is very good and it handles very well Have not yet experienced the all wheel drive feature in snow"
Anonymous, MA (2017 Kia Sportage)"Acceleration with the turbo is excellent."
Anonymous, WV (2017 Kia Sportage)"Great vehicle for driving around town and short trips for weekend drives."
Ron R., ON (2017 Kia Sportage)"Because of the turbo the 2.0L engine is amazing! The acceleration is really impressive if needed. The car handles very well."
William O., AZ (2017 Kia Sportage)"The "turbo" function is great for when you want to speed up fast, but, even when it's not on, it's difficult to control the rate of "take off." Passengers often have their head thrown back when accelerating. And, the engine completely died at 27K miles and is currently in the shop receiving a new engine."
Sharon A., WA (2017 Kia Sportage)"Extremely Well handling to the nth degree compared to the Ford Escape In the previous 7 years This vehicle HAS BALLS when acceleration."
Terry L., MN (2017 Kia Sportage)"I love the way this car accelerates. I never worry about merging onto a freeway. I find it very easy to drive."
Yvonne B., TX (2017 Kia Sportage)"We get better mileage around town and on road trips than specified by Kia. We consistently get 34 mpg on road trips, and 24 around town."
Anonymous, MO (2017 Kia Sportage)"It needed a new engine at 15,000 miles."
Terry W., CA (2017 Kia Sportage)"Very peppy for sm cylinder car. Positive steering response. Many safety signals for staying in middle of road and for vehicles approaching on drivers side."
Anonymous, VA (2017 Kia Sportage)"For a crossover SUV, the Sportage handles nimbly and has very decent acceleration on our SX trim with the higher powered engine. The downside is that fuel economy is not as great as some of the competition."
Anonymous, CA (2017 Kia Sportage)"Great styling- very good handling with turbo trim. Im very surprised at how good it is. Turbo mileage is not too good around town."
Rob B., NY (2017 Kia Sportage)"Very responsive to handling and acceleration feels like a 6 cylinder engine."
Michael V., AZ (2017 Kia Sportage)"2L turbo is peppy and handling is precise"
Don S., ON (2017 Kia Sportage)"There was a recall installation done on my car in March 2018,, but then one day there was suddenly a high idling problem and an engine warning light in July 2018. I took it in and they did the recall again and I'm not having that problem. I like all of the options for driving in my Sportage, particularly eco and regular which makes it drive like a V6. I still haven't tried the manual shifting - don't really care about that."
Anonymous, IL (2017 Kia Sportage)"handling and acceleration are very good"
Anonymous, NY (2017 Kia Sportage)"the turbo has no lag. if you hit the pedal , you accelerate very quickly"
Shawn B., OH (2017 Kia Sportage)"The Sportage Turbo is really fun to drive for the segment it's in, where most other consumer CUVs have sub 170hp and is further hampered by CVT, finding the 240hp direct injection engine is awesome."
Justin E., WA (2017 Kia Sportage)"good acceleration, including going up a hill, hill retention, does not roll back when stopping"
Robert H., AZ (2017 Kia Sportage)"Handles great in the snow"
Anonymous, MA (2017 Kia Sportage)"The power train provides surprising quickness and acceleration, firm and responsive steering, find the visibility to be quite good despite being seen as a negative in reviews, option lane change and lane drift warnings very reliable. Love it."
Dennis K., NY (2017 Kia Sportage)"Although basically a very utilitarian vehicle, it is also fun to drive and responds much like a sporty sedan."
Ronald C., NC (2017 Kia Sportage)"Very responsive once you get used to the excelerator."
Anonymous, NC (2017 Kia Sportage)"Acceleration better than satisfactory for driving on highways and roads here in Hawaii. Handling on curves (e.g., Hana Highway and going up Mt. Haleakala) is exceptionally good!"
Anonymous, HI (2017 Kia Sportage)"I could not believe the acceleration of this 4 cylinder turbo! On the test drive I was skeptical after the 8-cylinder BMW. Then the salesman told me to drive it like I just stole it! The get up & go was phenomenal!! I immediately said "I'll take it!" The turning radius is excellent as is the handling."
Cheryl N., FL (2017 Kia Sportage)"Good acceleration for a 4 cylinder and good handling."
Judith A., HI (2017 Kia Sportage)"Acceleration is great (2L turbo). This is the fastest accelerating vehicle I have owned. Handling is much better than expected for this type of vehicle."
Anonymous, MI (2017 Kia Sportage)"Peppy for a 4 cylinder- not afraid to blend into highway traffic"
Anonymous, MI (2017 Kia Sportage)"The gas mileage is the most disappointing about this car. Acceleration from a stop going up a hill is very poor. In this situation the car is most vulnerable for an accident."
Anonymous, CO (2017 Kia Sportage)"it handles just like my previous ford fusion 6cl :almost.very good acceleration"
Karl B., BC (2017 Kia Sportage)"Have turbo great pick acceleration and safety. Really handles well 4 accident avoidance"
Robert M., CO (2017 Kia Sportage)"very good acceleration with the turbo engine, handling is compliant with wide tires."
Michael B., NC (2017 Kia Sportage)"Great acceleration!!"
Una L., TN (2017 Kia Sportage)"240 horses provides great acceleration, but there is a split second lag while the turbo kicks in. Handling is very, very good. Tight turning circle is a plus. The ride is comfortable but not luxurious, it's a nice blend of sportiness and refinement. Not a boat."
THOMAS I., CA (2017 Kia Sportage)"Acceleration is lacking and pauses before accelerating"
KAY R., UT (2017 Kia Sportage)"Very good and very smooth acceleration, various settings available including ECO, and Sport mode for handling. Hugs the road very well, and is responsive."
MARIANNE L., FL (2017 Kia Sportage)"The turbo is very responsive. Passing is effortless."
Anonymous, AB (2017 Kia Sportage)
"My wife loves the sportiness of the drive, she likes to go into sport mode for acceleration and into economy on long drives- just is thrilled with this car"
Anonymous, NJ (2017 Kia Sportage)
