What Owners Say
"This car can keep up cruising speed with any gas hog if need be."
R C., AZ (2015 Toyota Prius)"about the same as previous models"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"10,000 between oil change. 56 miles per gallon (I'm a conservative driver). Comfort with a quiet ride. Good handling."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Good acceleration for a hybrid and feels planted to the road ."
Timothy L., NC (2015 Toyota Prius)"Both are great as is gas mileage"
Kenneth C., MI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Excellent."
Anonymous, LA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Low power, skinny and noisy tires provide poor handling and ride."
Anonymous, IN (2015 Toyota Prius)"Poor acceleration. Otherwise, handles well."
CLAIRE M., MD (2015 Toyota Prius)"We previously had a 2005 Prius, and the new 2015 Prius handles MUCH better, accelerates MUCH faster. I am very impressed... and its way faster than many other compact gas cars that I have driven."
Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I like the "Power" button, which assists with acceleration/ power onto highways... nice extra boost"
MARY M., NY (2015 Toyota Prius)"It is no more or less fun to drive than any other compact. Acceleration is typical for a small car, and it is noisy. But it's my wife's car...."
N C., KS (2015 Toyota Prius)"This is my third Prius and the slowest. It accelerates begrudgingly. Whassup with that?!"
JEAN S., SC (2015 Toyota Prius)"One issue--design in the back of the Prius has a bar effectively cutting the view in half, but I've gotten used to it."
Anonymous, AZ (2015 Toyota Prius)"Seat uncomfortable"
Anonymous, NV (2015 Toyota Prius)"Excellent in all areas."
JOHN R., OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"The electronic stability control saved my bacon coming through a late October snowstorm heading east on the interstate near Albuquerque, NM. I was going too fast and the back end began to come around and I realized I was about to go into a spin. I got a sinking feeling knowing my goose my be cooked, but then the car unexpectedly straightened itself and I was fine. I only realized later that the ESC had saved me. WHEW!"
DONALD M., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"As I said, acceleration and handling are very good. I can ignore the good mileage and drive it almost like a sports car, with spurts of acceleration, and quick direction changes. It turns on a dime - very good turn ratio. Has no trouble keeping to 75-80 mph up hills, on cruise control, with really good mileage on highways."
Anonymous, NM (2015 Toyota Prius)"It is boring to drive--like my grandpa's car. I hate, hate, hate the set back of the front end, where the wheels are set back quite a bit from the front bumper. That makes it very cumbersome to park. I also hate the visibility. I always end up parking this car crookedly because I cannot see where I am in the space, and the body comes up too high for me to see clearly out of the Windows, and there are absolutely no straight lines inside that I can use as reference points. Sucks. But all the"
Anonymous, VA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I knew this going into the purchase, but the car lacks power. And, when the accelerator is depressed for either acceleration or hill climbing, MPG dramatically drops."
STEVEN A., NC (2015 Toyota Prius)"mpg"
MARVIN K., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"very comfortable ride just not quick off the line"
Anonymous, MD (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handling is very good for the type of vehicle. Electronic stability control(s) and whatnot keep vehicle feeling very secure when accident avoidance is necessary. Acceleration is OK for 90% of city conditions, but truly is abysmal overall. With that said, it is a hybrid vehicle, not a sports sedan/hatch."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Lacks power"
R D., MT (2015 Toyota Prius)"This is a very good car - driver's seat does not adjust, so better for taller people or a thick cushion to allow vision over top of the dash - that was revised in newer models ."
CHERYL R., MI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Sluggish acceleration. Handles fine."
KENNETH J., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Visibility to the rear is not as good as I would like. I.E. The rear pillar is in my vision when passing."
CAROLE B., NJ (2015 Toyota Prius)"This car has a power surge button that is used when merging onto the expressway. It works great! No problem getting up to road speed."
Anonymous, AZ (2015 Toyota Prius)"Rear visibility is affected by crossbar in the hatchback."
Anonymous, OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"slow to accelerate..have to get used to it but it is okay"
DAVID B., TX (2015 Toyota Prius)"The MPGs is lower than expected. And the acceleration is lower than my 2009 Prius with 122k miles."
JOHN T., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"The constant velocity transmission takes a bit of getting used to - there are no 'gears'. Acceleration is slow initially, but you learn to really romp on the accelerator to get going from a stop, to go up a hill or pull into traffic. Suspention is a bit choppy, but not uncomfortable."
PHIL S., OH (2015 Toyota Prius)"Gas mileage"
Anonymous, NY (2015 Toyota Prius)"Very good mileage, good acceleration and handling"
ROGER B., MI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Does not perform well on steep hills. Acceleration not great, but not a problem for me."
Anonymous, LA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Not as good as older model in terms of acceleration. inside console hump is somewhat inconvenient"
J C., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"poor acceleration Bluetooth sometimes doesn't connect"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The handling would be much improved if the back window was not obstructed by the horizontal bar in the middle."
Anonymous, MD (2015 Toyota Prius)"Smooth acceleration and very responsible steering"
JULIO R., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"a little smoother ride would be nice"
Anonymous, GA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Worst: It's VERY difficult to see out the back, even with backup camera, when backing up. I wish we'd gotten side-view rear cameras, too, but that was a lot more expensive. Also, it's hard to tell when parking if I got it in the space, between the lines, and straight. Acceleration is ho-hum, especially after I've been driving our Subaru Forester. And the parking brake is weird."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Lacks real acceleration and somewhat to maintain constant speed on varying terrain."
PHILIP L., VA (2015 Toyota Prius)"It handles poorly on slick and icy roads."
Anonymous, IN (2015 Toyota Prius)"The fuel economy you cannot beat. Excellent vehicle !"
CHARLES W., KY (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handling is fine, but the limited acceleration makes it less fun to drive than pretty much any non-hybrid/electric car I've driven."
JUSTIN S., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Large blind spots at all four corners and out the back window."
Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Prius)"handling ok, but does feel a bit mushy if pushed on corners. Type of tires critical to wet weather safety"
JEFFREY D., CT (2015 Toyota Prius)"we live in a mountain area. the acceleration on this vehicle is poor when attempting to climb a hill."
ARTHUR F., GA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Uses too much gas if you need to accelerate fast: Backup camera is still hard to see at certain times of he day: Front bumpers are much too low"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Funny. Has reputation for poor acceleration and handling, but it's capable of merging onto freeways more quickly than most people do and handles mountain roads just fine. It's no sports car, but it's very pleasant to drive"
MARK B., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Excellent for engine size. Like how it handles."
PRUDENCE G., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Ride is rather harsh and noisy. Not a good highway car."
Anonymous, MA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Because it is supposedly a "sports model" of the Prius (persona) it has a low wheelbase and a poor turning ratio. It is difficult to turn into a parking place, hard to maneuver getting into a parking place on the street, scrapes the bottom going into my garage, and can't turn in s u turn very well."
COLLEEN F., NC (2015 Toyota Prius)"acceleration is amazing for a 3000 pound vehicle. The little battery that runs the dash and starting of the car sometime is dead after 8 days when I am on vacation...nothing has been left on."
Anonymous, WA (2015 Toyota Prius)"My last 4 or 5 cars were 5 or 6 speed standards, and the transition to an automatic has been VERY hard. don't feel very comfortable driving in the winter(lack of control), and am finding that I need to ride MY brakes because drivers in front of me constantly tend to ride theirs, like down hills."
JOHN K., PA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Very Strong Vehicle! My dad hit a cow on the front right and literally drove the right tires off the ground. He didn't run off the road and no damage to the vehicle!"
IVAN T., OK (2015 Toyota Prius)"Visibility is not good to rear or sides because of body design. Turning circle is too large."
BILL L., IN (2015 Toyota Prius)"Volume knob does not work without cranking it excessively in either direction. Entire electrical system does NOT work reliably overall. Backup buzzer does not stay on. It NEVER has."
Carole B., AZ (2015 Toyota Prius)"some difficulty with traction in winter"
Anonymous, PA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration seems slower than in the 3 previous prius’ that we have owned"
Richard M., VA (2015 Toyota Prius)"very good acceleration more like a sports car."
Duane B., TX (2015 Toyota Prius)"efficient"
S M., OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration is outstanding; I have surprised other drivers off the starting line and when climbing hills. The handling is very predictable, with very little under- or oversteer."
Michael H., AL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Wife enjoys the CVT transmission. Car is comfortable."
Cheryl J., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"There is a bad blind spot on the passenger side. The handling and acceleration are adequate. Breaking is good."
Anonymous, NY (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration is spongy at first but picks up to brisk but not rocket-like. The car handles well owing to its size, track and weight distribution. Tires make a big difference in handling - the OEM tires didn't handle as well as the ones I installed later, which were selected for their all season handling."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Toyota Prius)"acceleration is slow but is ok for me a senior driver. And handling is excellant."
Anonymous, NL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Good accelaration for a hybrid on highway."
Anonymous, LA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Very smooth transition from electric to ICE, good acceleration when needed"
Anonymous, HI (2015 Toyota Prius)"1. No DRL...I realize this is a no frills car but to not have a basic safety feature like DRL is irresponsible. 2. Headlights on high beam are ok... Low beams are weak.. totally inadequate 3. Difficult to see instruments during the day particularly those by gear shift"
Norman R., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The extra power button accelerates my car and it is so powerful while being shoot and easy"
Cheryl S., TX (2015 Toyota Prius)"This is my second Prius (I would have kept it, but my husband talked me into a new one). I've had many, many different autos over 40 years; the Prius is my favorite. Great MPG, fun to drive, accelerates fast when I need to, handles well."
Anonymous, TN (2015 Toyota Prius)"Slow on the response/pickup"
Anonymous, OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"It is very easy to turn...makes sharp turns when parking, etc."
R R., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The vehicle is noisy, acceleration and handling is fine otherwise"
Le S., DC (2015 Toyota Prius)"Has very good power driving in the Colorado mountains- maintains speed on steep grades."
Anonymous, CO (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handling on the road is outstanding. Also, the gas mileage and reliability are great."
Anonymous, AL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Surprisingly alert for a high mileage light car. Handles well, but I wouldn't want to be hit by another car or truck when driving it. So I restrict my use, when possible to driving around town."
Anonymous, SC (2015 Toyota Prius)"The ride is a bit rough at times and there is lots of road noise. I understand that the newer model years have independent rear suspension which probably helps with the ride issue."
Stu F., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Very poor acceleration. Handling is subpar."
Brian A., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I am comfortable with the way it handles - no problems. It accelerates well too."
Anonymous, NC (2015 Toyota Prius)"Excellent car, overall."
Anonymous, RI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Responds as needed in traffic, brakes quickly in close situations, corners well in tight U-turn situations."
Gail R., WA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The different modes (eco & pwr) have a notable difference in handling and acceleration. Eco feels more sluggish overall, but still handles well"
Chris R., IL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration has been much improved with the Power mode. Unfortunately, you have to push a button to get that option. That can be distracting."
Anonymous, NM (2015 Toyota Prius)"For a small engine, I find the acceleration sufficient to bring me to highway speeds on the ramps--this is when the engine noise is greatest. Although the rear visibility is compromised when driving by the window design, the back-up camera works well in a tight squeeze when parking."
Teresa L., OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"Headlights for night driving/excellent Handling/suspension very good with the Persona Series The Absolute Red color is noticeable Overall substantial "upgrades" from the 2006"
Robert S., WI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration is modest but very smooth due to the electric motor. Measured acceleration allows for the vehicle to remain in electric mode for up to 12 miles."
Damon H., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"it handles very well on the interstate. I expected it to so well in local traffic, not necessarily as well on highways. I'm happy"
Anonymous, GA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handles well, accelerates wonderfully which always delights me, brakes well."
Catherine G., NY (2015 Toyota Prius)"Driver vision is extremely impaired out rear, it is terrible and dangerous."
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"WE LIVE IN MOUNTAINS, SO WE DRIVE ON CURVY ROADS. THE PRIUS HUGS THE ROAD AND IS EASY TO MANEUVER."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Still am amazed at the acceleration & easy handling of this car. We went on a 4000mile trip this summer. Great mileage, no problems at all & very comfortable the whole time."
Peter K., TX (2015 Toyota Prius)"It is slow to accelerate."
Anonymous, MI (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handles well at all speeds and accelerates as needed."
Grant G., WI (2015 Toyota Prius)"gas mileage and comfort"
Anonymous, TN (2015 Toyota Prius)"horrible blindspots"
Phil L., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"good acceleration once up to speed, and great handling on straightaway and curves"
Joseph S., PA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The blind spot is unacceptable. The navigation does not know where I am. Camera shows object 1/2 on screen when car is about 2 1/5 ft. Away. Can’t wait to sell it"
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Strong and constant acceleration as needed and on hills and in curves. The back break which kicks the engine out of cruise control makes driving into and out of curves exceedingly smooth and provides passenger comfort as well as excellent driver control."
John R., OR (2015 Toyota Prius)"In all my previous cars, I could see the front of the car. This fact was a reference aid for over fifty years aid the front of the Prius can't be determined. This is a driving problem for parking and for following traffic, especially at traffic lights."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"The power increase from my 2006 is so great, I at time forget what it was like to drive that old car I had for 9 years."
Dafydd N., NV (2015 Toyota Prius)"Honest acceleration while it still sips gas"
Mark J., NV (2015 Toyota Prius)"Value; driving enjoyment; Bad - Hard to understand and use electronic panel; (dashboard)"
G O., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration is a tad slow, but knowing that, I dont push it too hard from a stop. I’m in no hurry."
Carmela S., MA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Surprising acceleration for a 4 cylinder.....thanks to the electric motor. Good for freeways in crowded cities."
Robert P., WA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Once you get used to CVT, the acceleration is quite satisfactory. The performance is good while MPG remain good too."
Anonymous, NV (2015 Toyota Prius)"I think it is excellent for handling day-to-day driving, but I am not sure about how its ability to handle driving in the mountains (e.g. Rockies)."
Anonymous, MN (2015 Toyota Prius)"Love the color, Miles traveled since 2/15 and spending $1,103.23 to date on gas, not comfortable to drive, Windows are difficult to see out of, cannot see over the hood, hard to park and judge your distance, GPS system do not like mapping, right rear view mirror does not show cars clearly, would never buy this make of car again."
Kathy B., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"easy to drive"
Brannon H., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I think the public largely believes a hybrid vehicle like the Prius might not have any acceleration or otherwise be a pain to drive. We have found it to be the exact opposite and enjoy the vehicle in totality."
Steven K., VA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Bit slow on initial acceleration, but accelerates well enough after that like when entering highways. Acceleration while moving is underrated. Solid ride and handles predictably. Drive 30 K plus per year and only complaint is driver's seat is marginally comfortable. Gas mileage and reliability are great. This is my third prius."
D G., MN (2015 Toyota Prius)"Driving a Prius does require some patience when accelerating into traffic. I find it responsive when needed for acceleration. Steering is just fine."
Anonymous, VT (2015 Toyota Prius)"Somewhat slow out of the gate but value and mileage make up for it"
Anonymous, FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration is good, considering the motor. Handlng is good but could be somewhat better"
Anonymous, MO (2015 Toyota Prius)"Handles pretty well considering what it is."
Anonymous, PA (2015 Toyota Prius)"Just a very comfortable and responsive car. I love it!"
Eunice R., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"For a small car it has peppy acceleration."

Natasha P., FL (2015 Toyota Prius)"it's not quick off the line but it's very comfortable ride"
Anonymous, MD (2015 Toyota Prius)"handling & braking"
James M., NH (2015 Toyota Prius)"Excellent mileage. Pass nearly all gas stations."
Anonymous, BC (2015 Toyota Prius)"It handles good, but when the windows are open in the back while accelerating it makes a mofing noise"
Art H., CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I was concerned about power for passing and entering a highway. This has proved to not be a problem at all. Handling has been steady and predictable."
Rudolph B., WI (2015 Toyota Prius)"It is what it is don’t expect high acceleration. You get excellent economy in a well built automobile."
Anonymous, CA (2015 Toyota Prius)"I feel very comfortable driving this car."
Anonymous, AZ (2015 Toyota Prius)"The acceleration is quick and quiet"
Anonymous, MO (2015 Toyota Prius)"Accelerates like a dream, great breaking system. Doesn’t feel any different than driving any non hybrids. All tho I have driven a hybrid since 2004."
Anonymous, TX (2015 Toyota Prius)"it handles well. good acceleration. fun to drive."
Anonymous, DE (2015 Toyota Prius)"Acceleration, braking, and handling are good (about as expected from CR reports). Road noise is on high side. Interior comfort is good. Hatchback allows extra cargo when needed."
