The Sienna is one of the quietest and most comfortable minivans available, but it's also one of the smallest in terms of interior room. With a smooth, refined and responsive powertrain, it's still an excellent choice when interior spaciousness isn't a high priority.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

Driving Experience

Includes acceleration and handling

What Owners Say

"It is a dependable, reliable automobile. I depend upon it to start in all kinds of weather. rides nicely. No major problems with it."

WILLIAM P., MA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The acceleration has always been topnotch in this car and it maneuvers very well. It has not been great in gas mileage as it has aged, but I'm reluctant to get another car because it has been so reliable."

ELISA G., TX (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Smooth quite"

BILL O., IL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"235000 miles and I had the valve cover seals replaced, two timing belts, changed the spark plugs two times. All this is to be expected in normal ownership. Interior trim is secure and has held up well. Three batteries."

DANIEL A., SC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Knew when I bought it that it could have used a 4 or 5 speed forward transmission and a little higher engine HP. The Honda Odyssey had those but was more expensive."

Anonymous, CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Smooth easy ride with ideal gearing. Spirited performance but has good fuel consumption on highway."

ROGER K., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"With the V-6 there is always plenty of power. Easy to handle in all traffic conditions."

Alan Y., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Reliability"

Anonymous, CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Firm but comfortable ride. Quiet engine and low road noise. Good performance and the automatic gearing is ideal. Love the manual electric control out of high gear. Delivers surprisingly good fuel consumption on highway. Quite reliable although the automatic drive was repaired."

Roger K., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The 3.0 six-cylinder engine has admirable performance and average gas mileage, especially on the average between in-town driving vs. freeway. Gets out of its own way well when merging with traffic on the freeway. All in all, a good performance for mileage compromise."

Anonymous, CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Good acceleration for a van, breaking seems to be OK, and handling is fine for a van"

Bill D., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Ride is form but very smooth over the bumps . Maintains good performance and roadholding even when fully loaded. I prefer this model over later model Siennas"

Roger K., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"It's always been a pleasure to driver this car! Accelation and handling is still great, as well as visibility, driver and passenger comfort, even with a full load. I no longer pull a trailer with this car (we now have an old Toyota truck for that), but it did an awesome job while we did (up to 2000 lbs.)."

Archie G., ID (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Very responsive and stable"

Jerry M., NC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

Comfort

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"very comfortable seats"

Anonymous, AZ (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Still a very confortable ride. I have spinal stenosis and I fell better after riding in the car for 30 min that i felt when I got in."

Anonymous, FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Stats have held up. Very comfortable and quiet for long drives."

KAREN C., OR (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"this van is to be 16 years old and the AC will freeze you. Seats and controls are ultra comfortable. Relatively quiet ride and good handling for a van."

BILL D., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The climate control is great, and the seats the most comfortable of any car I've owned."

Anonymous, WA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The seats and the ride are better than the 2013 Camry Hybrid."

Anonymous, CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"These seats are very comfortable and make traveling much easier with my lower back problems."

Anonymous, MO (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Driver's seat is very comfortable and the seat height is the perfect height for easy entering and exiting. A/C is a bit slow to cool but does a competent job. When the rear A/C is activated the cooling is much faster. The ride is great. Tire wear is perfect. Solid on the road."

DANIEL A., SC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"We like the vehicle's cargo capacity and ability to remove seats and secure cargo in the vehicle and on the roof. We find street noise to be bothersome."

Anonymous, FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Good. Comfortable seating, big legroom and headroom. Quiet and smooth driving. The third row cannot be flaten for larger cargo space. The turning radii is too big. The rear view is cut by triangular rear windows."

Anonymous, NV (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Easy for older people to get into and out of. Very comfortable."

Anonymous, VA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Comfortable for long trips with good storage. Hard to get out second and third row seats."

Anonymous, FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"good support and adjustability makes long trips more comfortable"

Anonymous, TN (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Rear seats difficult to adjust or remove. Mounts on rear springs failed and had to be replaced two years ago. It generally rides well. On long distances the setting for longer rides stresses the lower back."

Anonymous, OH (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Love the removable seats. Provides amazing versility , comfort for six people, super large interior. Ur neat and functional exterior. Better than the later Sienna's in my view. More than adequate performance, flat comfortable ride , great on long trips."

Roger K., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Seats are nice, noise is not above I expect, ride is very nice."

Iulian S., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Very comfortable supportive seats even after 16 years. Lacks lumbar adjystment."

Richard S., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Comfortable seats, easy to maneuver and very reliable."

Andreas B., AB (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Rides smoothly on city streets and highway. Seats are comfortable on long trips."

Ben M., PA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Great car for driving an adult car pool skiing. My passengers always comment on how smooth the ride is and how comfortable the seats are (captain's seats)."

Nancy V., OH (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Seats comfortable for all day driving"

Jerry M., NC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"the seats are very comfortable; good adjustments on driver seat"

Hana P., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The seats in the Sienna are very comfortable. Considering that I have driven this vehicle across the U.S. three times, I would say that the seats are as comfortable as my recliner at home! Even the third row seats are comfortable, but they don't have much leg room. The ride is also comfortable, but there has always been an intermittent rattle in the second row seats. No one seems to know what causes it. When driving in a strong crosswind, the car responds to the wind and is difficult to control."

Luella C., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"For 17 years, this van has been THE BEST vehicle! Leather seats with front heaters still work well and in great shape with dogs. Power adjusts seats, windows, sunroof and everything still works perfectly. Seats seat 7 and all back seats fold down or can be taken out. Kids, road trips, real estate signs and gear, kayaks and bikes on racks. Easy to get in and out even for 90 yr old mom and tiny tots. Super ride on all road types, super in MN snow, quiet and comfy."

Roanne R., MN (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"We sound proofed this vehicle when we purchased it and it has lasted 17 years. Seats are still confortable. Ride is a bit rough due to age,"

Anonymous, IA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The seats are great except the drivers seat is cockeyed on the mountings. Toyota refused to fix it under warranty claiming they wouldn't fix it unless it actually broke. The electric movement did break finally, but after the warranty period. Been stuck in the same for/bw position for years."

John P., AZ (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Quiet ride, very surefooted in all conditions. Excellent driving position and comfortable on a long distance drive."

Roger K., BC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Quiet ride, seats are ok, not great"

Bill D., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"All the seats are very comfortable. We have the model with 4 captain seats. The back seats are easy to remove when need-be."

Alan Y., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

Value

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"It has been a great van."

JOHN H., TX (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Well, we bought it quite a while ago. I think it has been reliable for us. I like the features that come in newer models, but at the time I felt okay about the features and because of pits reliability and relatively low to average maintenance costs, I felt it was a value for a used car."

Anonymous, OR (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Comfortable, spacious, and surprisingly nimble (V-6). Only one repair since I purchased 10 years ago for just under Kelly, making it an excellent value."

ROBERT W., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"I bought this 2001 Toyota Sienna five years ago. It now has 206,000 miles on it and is still the most reliable car I have ever had. I have a wonderful mechanic who was amazed that I have not had to take the car to him at all for the last year. However, it is starting to show some minor oil leaks so I am taking it to him to check that out. I would buy another Sienna in a flash. A wonderful van."

ELISA G., TX (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Mechanically very reliable without major repair in the past 15 years."

Anonymous, NV (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"This car has lasted 190000 miles. It needs some emissions repair but still runs well"

Anonymous, FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"16 years old and 250500 miles. Changed spark plugs twice, changed the timing belt twice. What else is there to say."

Daniel A., SC (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"I have almost 150000 miles on my Toyota Sienna, and have had very few problems with it. I hope to get at least 200000 miles from this car. It doesn't have all the computerized bells and whistles, but I don't want them anyway. I get reasonable gas mileage, considering the 6 cylinder engine and the size and weight of the vehicle. I've driven this car across the country twice, and I couldn't ask for a more comfortable car to drive long distances."

Luella J., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"car has been extremely reliable; no major repairs. Warranty service has been very good also."

Anonymous, IL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Over 100,000 miles and 15 years - great value!"

Nancy V., OH (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Great value. Van lasted a long time. Took entire basketball team to Las Vegas three times!"

Anonymous, CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"The minivan is still going strong. Comfortable ride. Air conditioner needs to be replaced and one of electric doors doesn’t work but other than that it’s fine."

Anonymous, WY (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"This has been a great vehicle for our family. Many long trips. Only one large repair. Regular maintenance is the key."

Alan Y., CA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"We got the fully loaded Sienna which was nice for a long time. But after about 5 years things started ceasing to function such as the rear most side wing windows. The doors constantly need to be reprogrammed, a lot of other small items, mostly electrical such as dash lights and entune screen,."

John P., AZ (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"This vehicle value speaks for itself as it is still in good running shape after 17 years and over 200000 miles."

Anonymous, IA (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"We expected a Toyota to last a long time and be relatively trouble free, and this car has greatly exceeded our expectations. After 18 years of ownership, I was tempted to sell it when we needed another vehicle (I'm a volunteer driver for a non-profit, drive seniors and disabled people to medical appointments), but after taking two 600+ mile trips, with teens in this car, we decided to keep it."

Archie G., ID (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"Very reliable with lots of space for kids and and hauling items"

Steven K., FL (2001 Toyota Sienna)

"17 years and EVERYTHING works. Replaced tires and breaks. A timing chain. The engine light went on 4 years ago. Dealer said it was catalytic converter and it might stop running. Well it still hasn't. 14 years without a car payment. The exterior has some dings that was my fault, but no rust! She has a name and I totally love her."
