Nespresso Essenza Mini
Nespresso Essenza Mini

    Nespresso Essenza Mini

CR's take: When all you need is a cup of joe to take out the door, the Nespresso Essenza Mini is perfect. It earns high marks for first-cup speed, repeat-cup speed, and cup-size consistency, as well as a brewing-range rating of Excellent, which means you have plenty of control over the strength of your coffee. The easy-to-use Essenza Mini can brew three different types of coffee—lungo, espresso, and ristretto—depending on the capsules you buy.

      Midea CyclonBlade High...

CR's take: A personal blender like the top-performing Midea CyclonBlade can help mom fuel her day with a delicious energy-boosting smoothie including all of the ingredients she likes and none of the stuff everyone else in the family insists on. The Midea scores high marks in our icy drinks test, which gauges how well the blender mixes up piña coladas (something else mom may enjoy after a busy day). Blenders that do well for icy drinks also do well for smoothies.

      Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm)
      Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm)

        Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm)

CR's take: Multitasking moms may appreciate that the Samsung Galaxy gets top marks for its step-counting and heart-rate-tracking abilities. And its display is easy to read in bright and low light. The watch can connect to WiFi and has a built-in GPS tracker. Just a heads-up that it can be tough to measure your heart rate in real time, especially when you’re moving. It takes about 9 seconds to get a reading.

        La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Melt-in Sunscreen Milk
        La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60...

          La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60...

CR's take: Help mom protect her skin while she's out and about with this top-performing lotion sunscreen.  La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 is very lightweight and quick to be absorbed into skin. It has a very slight plasticky scent (think beach ball) that's sometimes associated with fragrance-free products.

          Cannondale CAAD MIPS
          Cannondale CAAD MIPS

            Cannondale CAAD MIPS

CR's take: Keep mom safe while she's out cruising on two wheels. The Cannondale CAAD MIPS is a full-featured helmet that gets top marks for impact absorption, and it comes with bells and whistles: reflective features to make nighttime riding safer, a dial to quickly adjust the fit, and Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) technology

            Ring Video Doorbell 88RG000FC100
            Ring Video Doorbell 88RG000FC100

              Ring Video Doorbell 88RG000FC100

CR's take: Parents can easily keep an eye on things when away with a video doorbell. If you live in a home without a hardwired doorbell, the Ring Video Doorbell is a great option because it runs on a built-in rechargeable battery. It also costs less than half the price of some competing models. It comes with voice control via Amazon Alexa, zones that can be monitored, and alerts. With an optional subscription to the Ring Protect Plan, you’ll get a rolling 60 days of motion-triggered video clips.

Hamilton Beach Temp Tracker 33866 6 Qt.
              Hamilton Beach Temp Tracker 33866...

                Hamilton Beach Temp Tracker 33866...

CR's take: Make those meals cook themselves while mom is out living her life. This 6-quart Hamilton Beach slow-cooker is one of the least expensive of the programmable models we tested. It beat the Crock-Pot, long synonymous with slow cookers, in our tests. The Hamilton Beach is the only model to earn an Excellent rating in our high-setting tests, telling you it’s the fastest in its category. Program this cooker for up to 24 hours; the auto-warm option lasts for 24 hours, too. The owner’s manual includes tips on using the temperature probe and hold-temp mode to cook meat and fish using the sous vide method (placing food in a sealed bag and slowly cooking it in a warm bath of water).

                Eufy 11S
                Eufy 11S

                  Eufy 11S

CR's take: You have better things to do when you're home than clean up. So why not program a robotic vacuum to work while you're out of the house? The Eufy RoboVac 11S earns a Very Good rating in our carpet cleaning test and does even better on bare floors. While it’s not the most efficient cleaner—and testers noted that it sometimes scatters debris—it does the job, operates quietly (like many robotic vacuums), and has a cliff sensor to keep it from tumbling down stairs.

                  JBL Endurance DIVE
                  JBL Endurance DIVE

                    JBL Endurance DIVE

CR’s take: Perfect for your next family vacation or for rocking out on the regular, the JBL Endurance DIVE is designed for use not just on land but also in the water. According to JBL, it's suitable for swimming and is rated to survive a dunk in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. Additional features include a built-in MP3 player, technology that automatically powers the headphones on and off as you put them on or remove them, and a short collar that sits close to the neck and may help keep them secure in the water. The sound quality is dependable, and for around $90, the Endurance DIVE headphones are a decent choice for critical listeners.

                    Apple iPad Mini 4 (128GB)
                    Apple iPad Mini 4 (128GB)

                      Apple iPad Mini 4 (128GB)

CR’s take: Whether keeping the kids entertained in the car or binge-watching "Outlander," a good tablet can help busy parents stay connected on the go. The iPad Mini 4 gets high marks for performance and display quality, as well as for customer satisfaction and reliability. Our testers liked the sharp 7.9-inch display, which is bright enough for viewing outdoors. The wide viewing angle makes it easy to see content from the sides without the image washing out. That's useful when two or three people are crowding around the screen. Battery life isn't too shabby either: You'll get nearly 10 hours of web browsing and nearly 12 of playing video. A large ecosystem of high-quality iOS apps add to the appeal. Added bonus? The iPad Mini 5 (which we haven't tested yet) is just now hitting stores, so you should be able to find a good deal on the iPad Mini 4.

                      Brooklinen Luxe Core
                      Brooklinen Luxe Core

                        Brooklinen Luxe Core

CR's take: And when the working day is done, give mom the gift of a great night's sleep. This Brooklinen set (a bit of a splurge at $150) will fit a 14-inch mattress (or one that's not as deep). Our testers note that these sheets don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we tested. They earn a Very Good rating for both fit and shrinkage, which means though they do tend to get smaller during washes, they don’t deform all that much over time. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side based on our sensory test.
