"It's very peppy. It shifts smoothly. It's turning radius is OK, but not great. The auto-downshift on long downgrades takes some getting used to. It is probably saving my brakes, but my wife doesn't like it. Handling on routine around-town and highway driving is pleasant. We have not had any emergency maneuvers yet -- not even an emergency full-braking stop (with anti-lock kicking in). We hope it's good, but we don't know."

"This truck replace a 2001 Chevy 3500. The ride in the 3500 was way too stiff when not hauling a heavy load. The 2500HD is much more pleasant -- downright comfortable -- for taking a long trip without a load. It's quiet, comfortable, and we got 19 MPG on the road, exceeding the performance of our 2004 Ford F150's 15 MPG."

I think most of the price increases are driven by mandated systems (safety equipment, economy compliance) and marginally-useful Internet-connected gadgets that contribute little to the function of a truck (carrying and towing loads)."
