The left camera would fail intermittently and I took a picture of the screen when it had failed and gave a copy of it to my Ford service advisor. Based on the photo they replaced the camera under warranty. Note that the camera was working when I took it in for service but because I had "proof" that it was failing, they performed the work under warranty."

The service representative stated he would order the expensive part without checking my truck. After complaining to Ford Service, the dealer refunded $448 partial cost."

"Sorry, in that the Sync3 computer hasn't been replaced yet due to the Covid-19 issue. But currently the Sync3 system works fine at startup and Bluetooth connects to phone, but within 15 minutes to 45 minutes of driving the GPS fails completely, voice prompts and commands become very very slow and stuttered. Trying to change anything via the touchscreen becomes a dangerous exercise in frustration because of the extremely slow response and more time with eyes off the road. Also I've noticed that the phone gets very warm when the system fails. I don't understand that part but I'd say it could be quite dangerous if phone wasn't in shirt pocket to manually disable the attempts to connect to the Sync3 system."

Sunroof

"Panoramic moonroof would sometimes fail to close, and the rolling shade would make loud squeaking/creaking noises when closed or opened. Called Coconut Point Ford dealership for repair, was covered under warranty. They scheduled the appointment a month out. Brought in, said the specialist wasn't there but would fix it anyway. Issue recurred, but worse, moonroof popped out of the track on one side, mostly open. I live in an area where it rains near daily in the summer. I brought it to them and they took it back to look at, came back later that day and they said that there was no problem. They had popped it back in the track and I could see gobs of grease in the track. The next day it bound up again and wouldn't close. After many tries I ultimately was able to get it to close. Also, at this point it leaked every time it rained even if it was closed. I called them and they didn't want to make an appointment. I brought it in the following week and just sat in their office until they acknowledge me and shared with them videos, etc. and said, politely, if they didn't repair it this fourth time I would contact Ford corporate. They kept my truck almost 3 weeks. By this time it was just over the 36,000 mile warranty cutoff and I ended up being over $1,000 out of pocket for a repair that they initiated under warranty. They also said they negotiated with Ford corporate to give me this discounted rate and that I was very lucky. They ultimately replaced the motor, track, and some other bits. They gave the truck back to me with the trim all scratched and gaping in the middle dash area and the spring loaded door around my USB ports wouldn't close or open. There was a bunch of tape too. I brought it back again and they cleaned it up and put it back together correctly. At least they didn't argue with me about that or charge for it, but my trim has never been the same and there are scratches, uneven mating joints now. So about 6 months, six trips to the dealership, horrible treatment by their service advisors, over $1,000 out of pocket for what was initially a warranty item."

"I began noticing my garage smelled of gasoline one day. Around the same time, my truck would occasionally take longer than usual for the engine to turn over in order to start. At one point, the engine started sputtering and was barely able to start up and when it did the check engine light was on. I immediately took it to the dealership where they quickly noticed that there was fuel leaking somewhere from the engine and that the vehicle was definitely not safe to drive. I left the vehicle with them and they were able to determine it was some sort of gasket leak. They claimed it was something they had never seen before. "The Throttle Body has gone out 3 times at 20,000 miles, 67,000 miles and the last time at 87,000 miles. the engine stops and goes into safe mode ( a term Ford uses but far from safe) the engine runs, bur has no power and not enough power to pull to the side of the road and only coating power. The truck needs to be put into Park and brake on and restart the engine (if it starts) then proceed to only have it happen several more times. The throttle body then needs to be replaced to fix. Problem is that you don't know if it is fixed and it will happen again, just don't know when. Ford says this is not a safety issue, but when going through a large city pulling a camper and the truck quits in the middle of 5 lanes, it is a very big problem."

The Ford dealer diagnosed the problem as a failing Throttle Body (even though the warning said "Service AdvanceTrac" which I showed them as I took a picture of it with my phone. In any case, they replaced the Throttle Body (which was no longer on warranty) and the truck has been fine since. (I also bought an aftermarket Throttle Body which I keep in the truck just in case this happens again!)"

"A/C was not blowing cold air (only cool). Turned out that cabin temp sensor was indicating 15 degrees F so no compressor was needed (ambient was 80 degrees F). Had to replace entire evaporator housing since the temp sensor was not replaceable. Took 2 weeks for part to come in, then 2 days of vehicle in shop. Extended warranty covered entire cost plus rental vehicle."

"Intake maniflod gasket and then manaiflod had to be replaced, head gasket leak.I still smell anti-freez when I pull into the garage, nevers shows up on the floor. The anti-freeze is never low, but you can smell it, very strong in the summer."

"The antifreeze reservoir was constantly low. Vehicle was going through way too much antifreeze so I took it in to my local Ford dealership, they put the engine under a system pressure test to see if they could spot any leaks but didn't find any. They suggested it was my fault for over filling the reservoir and the system was leveling itself to accommodate. So they filled it to the appropriate level. However, the problem persisted so I brought it back and forced them to admit this wasn't normal and they did a longer term pressure test. After a few days under pressure they found leaks in the left turbo's cooling system. I took it to a different dealership who also confirmed the same issue and was able to fix the issue after ordering parts. The vehicle was under warranty, otherwise I would have had to pay a significant amount of money. I also suspect the fact that any issue was going to be under warranty was the reason the first dealership was reluctant to admit an issue in the first place."

"High speed engine cooling fan would remain on after engine shut off creating loud noticeable noise; also noted during driving creating noticeable hum inside cabin. Eventually, condition popped a wrench light on cluster and warning message to take to dealer for service. Dealer found relevant P-codes (DTCs) and diagnosed issue to faulty torque converter (attached to transmission). Resolution required complete replacement of the existing 6R80 transmission with new torque converter (4x4). Issue has not repeated since replacement."
