What Owners Say
"Several areas on my black car have faded and look white"
Anonymous, CA (2000 Honda Accord EX 2.3-L 4 Cyl)"Very LARGE fading spots all over the car. No peeling noted"
Dixie S., MD (2000 Honda Accord)"Paint just falling off"
Stephen S., CA (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"Paint on roof faded and chalked. Repainted this year"
Anonymous, FL (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"Clear coat has peeled in various parts of the car. This has been an ongoing issue with the car"
Anonymous, IL (2000 Honda Accord EX 2.3-L 4 Cyl)"The paint on the horizontal surfaces of the car (hood, roof, trunk) has completely oxidized. First the clear coat peeled and flaked, then the black pigment. There are large patches that have peeled down to the primer. It's a shame really. The car runs great (aside from a recently developed transmission leak), but it's an eyesore. I can't justify the cost of a paint job on a 17 year old, high mileage car, so I'll be replacing it soon---most likely not with another Honda"
Chris T., IL (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"The paint job is horrific and we notice the same on other dark color Honda from this time frame. The paint continues to corrode so that what was once a shiney black car is now mostly matte with white areas mainly on the front hood, roof and trunk. Also rust around the tire well"
Anonymous, NJ (2000 Honda Accord 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"The clear coat began to disintegrate about 3 years ago. It gets worse every year. the first 8 years I had the car I had to park it outside. Now I keep it in garage and get a wax job at car wash once a month. It doesn't seem to prevent the clear coat from getting worse. The only part the clear coat is OK is the trunk lid which had been repainted about 10 years ago"
Anonymous, OR (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"My Accord is actually a 1999 Model. The paint which had paint protection began peeling from the outer layers and fading about 4-5 years ago"
Anonymous, OH (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"You said it. The roof of the car has paint blotches and it's growing. I contacted Honda but was told it was not on recall. It's been like this for over a year"
Anonymous, BC (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"I bought my 2000 Honda Accord in 2000. It was brand new and the color silver. First mistake because it never looks clean. Since I didn't have it garaged until it was ten years old, the paint began fading really fast and rust started popping up everywhere, esp in the under-carriage area. Had to replace all the brake lines, just about everything under the car. And it just went down from there. But the interior held up really, really well, but it does fog up in the winter months, no matter what I do. Everything around the doors need to be replaced; they're all cracked. The trunk's hood is not aligned properly, so it gets really dirty in the area. If it was worth it, I would get it re-painted in a different color, but it's engine components are starting to break down one by one and I'd rather get a new car. But I haven't had a car payment in over 10 years, it has very low mileage, and would last forever if it would stop breaking down!"
Anonymous, NC (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.3-L 4 Cyl)"Paint faded on bumper"
Anonymous, VA (2000 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"after 10 years, 'rubber' trim of front windshield no longer completely flat where meets roof line and front passenger window hand washed/waxed for first 15 years then, had to start taking to Car Wash, which is when noticed paint peeled from side-view mirror arms"
Anonymous, CA (2000 Honda Accord SE Unsure)"I guess that the amount of rust and pain issues is probably not that unusual for a care with this many miles. It's just that the car is such a great vehicle in most other regards, it is disappointing that Honda still struggles with the rust/paint is"
Anonymous, NY (2000 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)"The paint is faded and blotchy all over the car. I was told by Honda that this was a problem that they knew about. Not sure if this has ever been fixed in later model years"

Anonymous, WA (2000 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Paint was significantly faded when we bought this car. We had a cheap paint job done on all upward facing surfaces"
Jeff W., TX (2000 Honda Accord LX)"The paint almost completely faded off in under eight years. I've seen many other dark green Accords on the road with this problem"
Alison H., CA (2000 Honda Accord 3.0-L V6)"fading and chalking since the car is always parked outside"
Anonymous, CA (2000 Honda Accord LX 3.0-L V6)"It is black and once it started fading, chalking, it went fast and looks ugly. May make the care safer since it would be hard to believe this car's driver wasn't dead broke. But the engine is still excellent"
David R., CA (2000 Honda Accord LX 3.0-L V6)"Cracking peeling Clear Coat paint issue that was identified with Honda using inferior paint suppliers"
Anonymous, TX (2000 Honda Accord DX 2.3-L 4 Cyl)"I parked my car under a pine tree. I believe the sap caused the protective coating on the hood to deteriorate so that the paint is now starting to peel. I do take the car to a car wash"
Patricia B., CT (2000 Honda Accord LX 3.0-L V6)"Clear coat started fading, pealing and chipping about 7 years ago. Looks like crap, totally devalues the car. I am told that the only fix is an $1,800 total repaint"
John W., CA (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"For the first 9 yrs, I had to park outside; the past 6 yrs, I have been able to park in garage. The clear coat began to deteriorate in the past 2 years, but looks like it really began earlier in out of the way spots. It would cost too much to repaint"
Anonymous, OR (2000 Honda Accord 3.0-L V6)"The paint is fading, chalking, cracking, and peeling in areas that have not been previously repainted - the top, the hood, the driver side door and front panel, driver side mirror. I love my car, but it is embarrassing to have others see how it looks"
Anonymous, GA (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"clear cost has been peeling since the car was several years old, very disappointing quality"
Anonymous, NJ (2000 Honda Accord DX 2.3-L 4 Cyl)"Even though paid for paint protection, spots developed in paint. After 6 months of effort, got the dealer and insurance co. to honor the paint warranty. However, the pint is now deteriorating again"

C C., CA (2000 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Honda is painted Argentine Green and paint is peeling and has developed alligator look all over the roof. My auto service tells me dark colored cars do this. Customers should become aware of this or take off the market"

Bruce H., PA (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Awful on the top of the car-- green paint chipping and peeling. No offer to fix by Honda"
Anonymous, IL (2000 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Black car. The paint on all the horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, trunk) has completely oxidised. The clear coat bubbled off, then the paint wore away. It has worn down to primer"
Chris T., IL (2000 Honda Accord LX 3.0-L V6)"paint peeling on front pvc bumper panels"
Anonymous, AB (2000 Honda Accord 3.0-L V6)"Paint is faded and chalking. A great looking old car looks horrible"
Anonymous, CT (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"the clearcoat separates from the paint, turning the car a crackly white over its base coat"
Matthew H., CA (2000 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Our 2nd car is a 1995 Accord SW, not a 2000. But you provided no way to indicate that"
Anonymous, AL (2000 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Over the past several years the shine off the car has come off to where the car looks matte mainly on the front and rear hood and also on the roof of the car. There is also a lot of white areas (on a black car) and some rust around the wheel areas"
Michelle W., NJ (2000 Honda Accord SE)"Paint faded, cracking,"

Bruce H., PA (2000 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)"Exterior paint on roof has faded to the point where if it were skin, it would look really diseased. I don't know the technical terms, but it's really spotty, with grey patches and patches of very light original color (emerald pearl)."
Anonymous, UT (2000 Honda Accord)"Original paint (Argentine green) had a silvery tone to it. I've been told by a Honda dealer that these silvery paints popular in that era are no longer used because the silver in the paint would melt and damage the paint. So paint is in bad shape. So far rust has no set it. The car is so old it's problematic to fork up the money for a paint job."
Nancy M., TN (2000 Honda Accord)"The paint is oxidizing on the trunk lid. Maybe because of being exposed to the salt air in Florida for 3 months a yearl"
