An update of the 2003-2005 model, the 2006-2007 Accord combines sportiness and all-around capability. Both the base four-cylinder and the optional V6 are refined, quick, and relatively economical. The ride is nicely firm and handling is nimble. The front seats are comfortable and the interior is well finished. Electronic stability control became standard on V6-equipped versions. Road noise is our biggest complaint.

Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Anonymous, NJ (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The 2007 Honda Accord routinely requires brake and rotor replacement every 10,000 - 12,000 with normal driving. The dealer told us this was "normal""

Dave L., CA (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Our dealer service said that the premature brake wear and rotors and calipers going out of round was a common problem on 2003-2007 Accords. They replaced all the front brake components, which was expensive, but it solved the problem and the grabbing"

Michael V., TN (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"I had to change rotors and brake pads a few times and I am not hard on brakes at all - most of my driving is highway. The handbrake also seized up even though I make sure to use it regularly. I'm not happy with the brakes on my Honda"

"brakes in hte accord had to be replaced 3 times in 50000 miles"

C P., NC (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"From purchase, had problems with rotor warping, or so I was told by Honda. They turned the rotor twice but it kept vibrating at higher speeds when I braked. I finally got online and read about it in car chat rooms. Turned out Honda was using cheap brake pads that easily melted and stuck to the rotor (something like that, I'm not mechanical). Solution was to pump the brakes instead of holding them down. Altho there is still a little vibration at higher speeds when I brake, it seems to be much better."

Leah K., CA (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Front brake calipers tend to lock in place because of road salt and snow then brakes wear unevenly and much faster. They go from OK to dangerous, noisy, and metal on metal very fast."

James D., NY (2007 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)
Pulsation or vibration

"The pulsation and vibration is always related tothe rotors; it disappears when the rotors are resurfaced."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The issue was caused by uneven wear of the disk. Had to replace front right disk well before the normal expected lifespan."

"The rotors had to be replaced, but this is normal wear and tear. I have over 170000 miles on the car. I expected that this could happen"

Alexandria G., CT (2007 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

Regina D., NJ (2007 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)

"The car is prone to warp its rotors. This is the second time we've replaced the rear rotors and first time for the front ones"

Don H., CA (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The Rotors wear away too fast - which also includes the pads and calipers get stuck"

Anonymous, ON (2007 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"My mech. said the rotors needed to be ground to make them even in order to bring about smooth contact with the brake pads thus giving a smooth braking power."

Robert A., CA (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Normal replacement."

Anonymous, OR (2007 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)

"Rotor had to be shaved a few months after purchase. This happened several times. Finally had to replace it. Then it happened again. Honda never could explain it. But reading many online car chat rooms, I learned that Honda was putting cheap brake pads on that were actually melting onto the rotor. It wasn't warping. The brakes were sticking to it and making the surface uneven."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The rotors have had to be worked on several times - always due to warping. They have now been replaced twice - the second time with rotors that are guaranteed to not warp (about 15 months ago) and they are already starting to gently pulse when the brakes are applied."

Anonymous, CA (2007 Honda Accord SE 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"they seem to need replacing a lot. maybe due to winter salt?"

Anonymous, MI (2007 Honda Accord SE 3.0-L V6)

"My auto technician recommended upgraded rotor and pads and they improved the brakes and the rotors should not have to be replaced for a third time."

Randal S., VA (2007 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)

"the rotors have warped prematurely since the car was new. I had them replaced with better rotors, but the problem persists. The rotors have to be turned every 10-15 thousand miles due to annoying vibration. This has not been an issue on any other car I've owned, but was an issue on my 1986 Accord."

Suspension

Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension.

What Owners Say

Alignment

"See my previous comments"

David O., PA (2007 Honda Accord SE 3.0-L V6)

"Honda does not have an adjustment for caster. the car was beyond the recommended limits so an after market part had to be purchased and installed to adjust alignment to specs. Evidently a problem with many new autos"

"Routine alignment check showed rear wheel misalignment. The were no obvious symptoms"

Anonymous, MO (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Had trouble maintaining alignment, turned out to be both control rods & stabilizer bar needed replacement. OK since then."

Walter S., VA (2007 Honda Accord LX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"Needed a camber kit installed on rear wheels due to limitation of rear camber adjustment."

Steven D., FL (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The car had 100000plus miles so the shocks and struts were overdue for replacement so no big issue here. The alignment has always been an issue. The transmission was also a problem and needed to be replaced at 50000 miles which I thought was a bit premature. Dealer would not replace under warranty."

George S., CA (2007 Honda Accord EX 3.0-L V6)
Ball joints

"It was very loud and squeaky. The shop replaced the driver's side ball joint, and a year later did it all again"

Michael P., ON (2007 Honda Accord EX 2.4-L 4 Cyl)

"The steering started creaking and then started to stiffen, requiring more force to turn the wheel. When I took it to the Honda dealer for repair, the left front wheel broke from the chassis as the mechanic drove the car into the garage. I had to get both ball joints in the front replaced. This could have been a serious crash had it happened while I was driving."

Speakers

"I've been driving with a recurring issue with my center console where my radio will completely cut out with no volume output. I suspect that it is an electrical/wiring issue that is preventing any audio output from the speakers. This issue has been ongoing for the last 4 years I have owned this vehicle, and I originally had it shipped to a repair shop in Buffalo to get it repaired. It came back working fine, but after a few months it cut out again. Every now and again it comes back on and works without issue for a few months, and then decides to quit for 6 months or so. I'm too cheap to have it fixed again, but driving without music for a majority of the year is the most irritating factor to live with. Otherwise it has been a very reliable and comfortable vehicle for its age."
