Owner Reports

Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Owner Satisfaction Owner Satisfaction To learn about satisfaction, CR has collected survey data from our annual survey on more than half a million vehicles. Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

"I have to replace the entire rear brake system every 3 years or so. Calipers, pistons, rotors and other hardware. CD player

"First the CD player quit working and then the radio went. It's too costly to get Honda replacements and after market would have to go into the cubby hole. The Honda dealer replaced a cable and the battery (both at my expense) but didn't solve the problem. I took it to an independent audio shop which said it was a defective Honda radio/sound system and was a problem with Honda's from these years. I paid over $500 to have a new sound system put in, and that fixed the problem. My frustration with the Honda dealership service shop was they said they had no idea what was wrong with the system, but when I went online to check, postings confirmed the independent audio dealer's assessment, that it was a sound system problem with Honda's from those years (cc 2004-2007 I believe). Interior lights

"It is the "Audio-HVAC Display is Dim or Dark" for which Honda USA did a Service Bulletin 04-027 on Feb 5, 2008. But 1) it did include only the 2003, 2004 and not the 2005 model year and 2) there isn't a similar Service Bulletin for Canada. The problem started in ~ 2015 and from 2016 I don't have radio functioning and more important I don't see the small lights for selecting the HVAC controls on nights especially in winter. To fix this problem at the Dealer I paid already $250 only to diagnose and probably will cost me $ 1500-2000 to solve it. Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, leaks.

What Owners Say

Catalytic converter

"Check engine light came on repeatedly following several repairs including V-Tech Solenoid, rack & pinion steering, power steering pump. Technician recommended that the catalytic converter be replaced. I read that the catalytic converter usually lasts for the life of the car and it was unusual to have to replace it. After replacing it the technician at this shop recommended that a tune up be performed. The catalytic converter issue occurred during a series of repairs to determine why the check engine light kept coming on following other repairs. It was later determined that the V-tech solenoid had to be replaced a second time with a Honda brand vs a generic. The engine sounds louder at idle now so more exhaust system work may need to be done. Maybe the catalytic converter did not need to be replaced is my thinking."

Other/unsure

"The car was brought to Honda for a recall related to the airbags. After return, the air bag light periodically comes on and stays on. I thought it might be due to weight of objects on passenger seat but that was not the cause. Brought back to Honda. Was told the problem was in the switch in the seat belt lock mechanism. Have not repaired. Still happens fairly frequently but can't isolate to the seat belt switch."

He finally suggested that the mechanic there cross connect the left and right airbags and see if the problem followed--it did. When connector on right bag was replaced the problem disappeared and has not come back.
