The Accord remains a well-rounded family sedan but is falling behind some newer and better competition. High points include roomy accommodations front and rear, an excellent driving position, great driver visibility, and mostly simple controls. The standard powertrain, a 177-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder and five-speed automatic, is smooth and refined but not super quick. It gets 25 mpg overall for 2011. A responsive 271-hp V6 and a slick manual transmission are available. Tire grip and braking performance have fallen off a bit. Responsive handling and a supple, well-controlled ride remain, as does some pronounced road noise.
